Hi everyone,
InDesign provides an option to export and import User Settings, providing users with a smooth and enhanced experience to restore their custom settings if needed. The feature is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.3.0.058)

Working to scale in InDesign is no different than working to scale in Photoshop. I do highway billboards in InDesign (38'x14' and similar sizes), and the process is easier and faster than doing the same thing in Photoshop. Besides, the document size limitation is built into Acrobat/Distiller/PDF, so it would be of no value to make InDesign's document size larger.
Don't work full scale on oversize grande format projects. You're wasting immense amounts of time for no added value.

This is a critically important item in long document/book publishing. When a draft layout is sent for proofing, corrections can be referenced by page and line number to make the correction cycle quick and accurate. I have even done these changes live while on a call with the client on a hot deadline. The current workaround is to set up line numbers on their own layer on the master pages, but this is a multi-step process and awkward by comparison.

Paste in Front is already available, except that it's called Paste in Place. KBSC is Ctl/Cmd-Alt/Opt-Shift-V.

Meanwhile, you could try using two frames on the master page, one for each variable.
The current problem with all text variables is that what's actually inserted in the frame is a single hidden character that references the text in the document, not the text itself. Being a single character, it can't have two character styles applied to diferent parts, nested styles don't apply, and GREP styles don't see text, just that hidden character. That's also why text variables can only sit on a single line, and if that is too long for the frame it gets squished.
I don't know what the engineering would have to be to change this behavior, but I'm guessing it's not trivial. For the moment, these problems are inherent in the basic architecture of the function. Hopefully, understanding the limitations might help with ideas for working around them.
