Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedThe file I'm trying to spellcheck now only works on Proximity and Hunspell is now broken (which it was already set to by default, and was previously suggested as a fix).
Prior to update Hunspell was trying to capitalise every word after a hyphen, eg. 'low-density' it suggested changing to 'low-Density' which was mildly irritating.
Post-update Hunspell is picking up almost every suffixed word, eg. the dictionary will have ‘introduce’ but not ‘introducing’/‘introduces’/‘introduced’.
Changing to Proximity it now seems to be checking normally, but I can't say I trust it now.

Hi,
This looks more like a feature modification request.
I am therefore moving this to the “Feature Request” section. Please keep adding your use-cases.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedI agree that once a group is moved it should then forget the original layers, or at least have preference to toggle on whether it does so or not.
Just lately, in the last update or so (CC 2019), I've noticed that if I group several objects on one single layer, then move that group to another layer and ungroup them, they will all return to the original layer. It can't be an intended consequence that ungrouping returns objects to a different layer even if they were all part of the same layer in the first place?
I wasn't previously aware of this feature but I've had to look it up to turn it off. Googling suggests it's been around since at least 2014, was it that I've never had it turned on and one of the latest updates now turns it on by default? Or has it always been on and now it's not working as expected/been "improved"?

Hi,
Please can you share some sample document with which the issue is happening at anasgupt@adobe.comThanks
Gemma supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedFurther to this post, the interactive PDF I thought was working ok is now no longer exporting with all the functions which have worked on previous exports but have stopped working as the document has been worked on. There is a button which should have the following actions:
Roll over: Show hidden button
Roll off: Hide hidden button
On release or tap: Got o URLGo to URL works. The appearance changes for Rollover and Click. The Show/Hide hidden button on Roll on/off doesn't. Opening it in Acrobat the hidden button is there, but the trigger events have not been included in the trigger button, only Go to URL is listed under Actions. I have to add the events to each button in Acrobat to make them work.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedThis does waste hours, previewed early on and spent a ridiculous amount of time assuming my files weren't set up correctly when it was InDesign the whole time.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedSame issue. I find quitting and restarting InDesign is never enough to bring them back/make them expand, always end up completely restarting my computer.

Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread…

To identify the cause of this issue, we started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2025(v20.0.0.095) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

Gemma supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedI've found quite dramatic examples of this happening. I can make changes to text and images in Normal View, then I switch to Preview and it is displaying the older layout/text of the page.
Sometimes this happens instantaneously but more more worryingly I have scrolled through a document and seen elements revert back to how they looked days again before several rounds of amends, except they aren't really there, they're just like ghost elements that when clicked on eventually refresh to what they should be. I don't even understand how the files are retaining such old previews of the pages.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

Adobe InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Gemma commentedI'm also crashing when trying to delete hyperlinks. The file is an update of a report so the original was created in an older version of InDesign now saved in 2018. Not having issues with URLs but the contents of the report had links to pages within the document which are now wrong. Initially I was just going to delete them all and start again but it crashed several times. I've narrowed it down to 4 I can't delete without crashing, also can't delete the text box they're in without crashing. I seem to be able to update them to the correct pages but not over keen on leaving something I know can crash the document in there.

Same issue, seems to happen at random and hard to spot unless regularly switching between normal and preview.
