An error occurred while saving the comment Vladan commentedAs I have already wrote in: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38987725-split-column-doesn-t-work-correctly
.... this option doesn't works good even in Id 2019. When text splited is at the bottom of the page the split to columns is lost and to fix that you must manually close the box of the text on each page ...The text splitted into columns should maintain this feature wherever its position is on the page, so even if it is at the bottom of the page

Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Vladan commentedAs Niki wrote, I also confirm that the option split column doesn't works when the text splited is at the bottom of the page.
The split columns in that cases is lost and to fix that you must manually close the text frame. An error occurred while saving the comment Vladan commentedHello Amaarora,
thank you for your support.
I emailed to you a sample file in InDesign 2019 where text has been splitted in two column.
One another very important thing:
this option doesn't works good even in Id 2019. When text splited is at the bottom of the page the split to columns is lost and to fix that you must manually close the box of the text on each page.
Thank you in advance

Since you are using a Single-Column Text Frame, please see if unchecking the option “Span Footnotes Across Columns” in the Layout tab of Footnote Options dialog helps you overcome this issue.

An error occurred while saving the comment Vladan commentedHi Ravi,
thank you for your answer.
In this case unchecking the option "Span Footnotes Across Columns" could helps me overcome this issue but this is not the solution. The bug remains.
If I have a file with different layout pages with one columns and two or more columns and, for example, for editorial decision I may not uncheck this option, the bug is always there. An error occurred while saving the comment Vladan commentedHi Ravi,
thank you for your answer but I absolytley don't want to uncheck the option "allow split footnotes" across the pages.
The option "Allow Split Footnotes" is necessary for the all documents with many and large footnotes.
However, in previous versions of InDesign it has never occurred this type of bug.
In this cases as a workaround I enlarge the text box just a little and then I setting it as it was before.
Also this fact that after this operation the footnotes are fixed confirms that it is a bugVladan shared this idea ·
Here is one short video example how is harmful this bug
In the video you can clearly see that after the footnote number (2) the following footnotes is the number (5). So the footnotes number (3) and number (4) have simply disappeared.
