An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedWould be more than great! Another benefit to this is that it would be much easier to split a paragraph, that now has to be indented, into more columns without the need of making adjustments to the par style!

An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedI voted for this feature request but would be better as a part of another request: 'Allow negative indentation!'

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

Adobe InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commented14.0.1 is crashing on me too very often. Crashes a few times a day. And even more beachballs, once every 5 min's or so, with all kinds of activities.

Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread…
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedFor me this helped:

Hello All,
Thank you for reporting the issue and allowing us some time to complete our investigation into the issue.
As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email and we could come up with the below mentioned findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For the majority of the users the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
3. We also found few cases where the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc. Please note that we have created separate threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created…
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedOpening Indesign: beachball and a 2-minute wait, 'preparing panels...' . Double clicking a text frame to select text: takes two seconds to activate the text tool Then, when text is selected, select another word: beachball. Switching from another app to Indesign: takes a couple seconds or more: beachball. Beachballs beachballs and stalls ... are you preparing to ditch Indesign also???
I'm on a Mac with latest version of everything and a 2015 iMac i7 with plenty of RAM and only a few inactive apps running. Deleted all Indesign stuff including preference folders and -files in libraries. Then completely reinstalled Indesin 2018. No plugins installed. All to no avail.
And what about commenting on these concerns by adobe staff? Where are you guys??

Hi,
This issue has been fixed in our latest release. Please update your InDesign and follow the steps mentioned in below link, for fixing this issue.
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/file-search-does-not-work.htmlAbove mentioned steps are required only once. So, that existing files are included inside search index.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedSeems to be fixed. Not only for CC 2018 but also 2017 and even CS 6 :-) So I suppose it's a fix in Adobe Creative Cloud App. But I'm happy

An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedI had this bug reported several times too in the last years (!!) but no respons from Adobe staff. But this is not uncommon unfortunately ...
Tom L supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedWhy no bug review from Adobe staff as of yet?
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom L commentedWhen having Indesign active, go to "File" > "Open". Then, type in the search field (right - top) (a part of) the name of the Indesign file you're sure it exists on your mac. Result: nothing found.
Then, go again to "File" > "Open", then FIRST choose "All documents" below the results window. Then, type in the search field (right - top) (a part of) the name of the Indesign file you're sure it exists on your mac. Result: All the files with the search word (in my case "vier") appear.

NOT RESOLVED
For me (Mac OS 10.14.2 (18C54)) and ID 2019 14.0.1 this bug still holds true! When I start ID, Cmd-O nor Cmd-N work. I have to firstly do this manually, after that it works as promised.
