Thank you everyone for your continued patience! Apple just released the macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update. This will fix the cursor issue with InDesign on macOS High Sierra. Please go to the App Store to update.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anne-Marie Concepcion commentedI've heard from Mac 10.13 public beta users that 10.13.1 (released as public beta yesterday) fixes the bug. https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/28/apple-macos-high-sierra-10-13-1-public-beta/

We have recently started development work on Convert PDF to INDD. Going forward, we will keep adding more functionality and refining it.
The feature is available as a Beta feature in InDesign 19.5 Beta version, available via the CCD app.
Note: For now, it is available only when InDesign's install language is English (North America or International).
Please provide us feedback on this Beta feature. Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anne-Marie Concepcion commented1) Sometimes you only have a PDF file to work with, and it needs to be heavily edited and updated; or it needs to have a full-fledge ID file created from it. Clients sometimes don't have the original file a designer did for them, only a PDF; or it was created from QXP or Publisher or CorelDraw, etc.
2) The entire thing, and optionally, some pages
3) Acrobat does an incredible job of converting PDFs to editable Word and Excel files. It's incomprehensible and a little embarrassing it can't export/convert to a program owned by the same company.

Thanks for making this request. In order to understand the use-case more better I have a few questions:
1. Whats the role of the different people working collaboratively on the same file. Are they always only designers or are other personas also involved.
2. What is the use-case here, some parts of this request suggest an Editorial collaboration whereas others suggest collaboration amongst different designers. I am trying to separate these 2 requests out.
3. What are the different kind of files (brochures, books, magazines etc) for which this is required.
4. Does it need to be a web based service, or having the user be able to collaborate on one shared file using InDesign or InCopy on the Desktop will work? What is the advantage you feel over a web-service over the desktop app?
5. How do you workaround this need today? What are the most important problems with…An error occurred while saving the comment Anne-Marie Concepcion commentedOnce again I'm dealing with a magazine client who moved to CC for Teams so they could all use the CC Files workspace for an InDesign/InCopy workflow, in lieu of a shared server. They are bitterly disappointed that this logical place to store live publication files doesn't work reliably with check-in/check-out etc. They're going to try GSuite next, which is what they're all using, no fileserver in site. They are totally cloud-based. The "Creative Cloud" name led them astray. I would love to see this rectified.

Sounds like this workflow is better suited for Wordsflow from Emsoftware. It allows all the features you're talking about and avoids all the problems you're running into, including losing formatting when updating editorial changes. Check it out.
