CC Files in InDesign not showing up
I shared files using CC Files for teams using my work account, and the sync with my account on my home computer in the user folder/creative cloud files, however they don't show up in the START workspace when I launch InDesign. How do I get these files to show up in the application?

The order of Arabic digits is reversed when changing their character direction
- Adobe InDesign CC 2017.1
- Create a textbox, type Arabic characters including some digits. Change character direction from 'Default' to 'Right to Left'.
- Arabic letters are RTL, but Arabic digits are written LTR; So when you change character direction to RTL, they should be in their right direction.
- Letters are RTL, but digits are reversed. The problem is that Arabic script is written RTL, but its digits' direction is LTR. Just like when you move caret and logically it moves in correct direction.

Hyperlinks
I use a lot of hyperlinks in a document which link to the individual products on our website for online ordering and stock levels.
The Hyperlink panel frequently corrupts - I lose the ‘traffic light’ link status indicator and location of the link (page No.) - meaning I have to remove InDesign and execute a clean install to get the feature back.

Variable Fonts in inDesign show different hinting results when compared to other environments
InDesign v20.3.1 x64, Windows 11
It appears that inDesign is maybe not able to correctly variate CVT values, causing unexpected hinting results. It seems as though CVT values that are used depend on the variable font’s default style/source. A possible way to recreate the issue: Compare the same variable font built in the same way but with a different default source set for each. If Hair (weight: 100) is set as the default, then it will appear in inDesign as if the Regular (weight: 400) is maybe using the CVT values of the Hair. This is shown in the first screenshot. It is not possible to recreate this issue in another environment such as Chrome. You would expect the choice of default style to not have any effect on the hinting result.
Also attached is a screenshot that looks at the difference between a static and variable version of a Windows font: Segoe UI. Although this example is less valuable as it does not show as stark of a visual difference as the first screenshot and the static and variable versions are not exact matches, it stands to show a difference in variable font hinting that I found difficult to recreate in other environments outside of inDesign, possibly alluding to inDesign doing something unique with how it handles hinting in variable fonts.
The screenshot examples use 18pt size text.

InDesign Strips Formatting When Pasting Text from Google Docs
Description:
When copying formatted text from Google Docs and pasting it directly into Adobe InDesign, all formatting (such as bold, italics, font size, and links) is lost. However, if the same text is first pasted into Microsoft Word or TextEdit, the formatting is preserved and can then be successfully pasted into InDesign. This suggests the issue is specific to InDesign’s handling of clipboard data from Google Docs. As a workaround, I currently have to use an intermediate application like Word, which slows down my workflow.Steps to Reproduce:
Copy any formatted text from Google Docs (e.g., bold, italic, links).
Paste directly into InDesign text frame.
Observe that all formatting is lost.
Paste the same text into Word or TextEdit — formatting is preserved.
Copy from Word/TextEdit and paste into InDesign — formatting is preserved.
Expected Result:
InDesign should retain formatting when pasting directly from Google Docs, just like it does when pasting from Word or TextEdit.Description:

New PC GPU zoom doesn't seem to centre the zoom on the cursor
New PC GPU zoom doesn't seem to centre the zoom on the cursor leading to not super useful behaviour (you have to zoom and then drag with the hand tool to get back to what you were originally trying to zoom into). It's very disorientating.

Better Text Box Controls
Could the in port and out port boxes be shifted slightly away from the bounding box corners? They’re currently positioned very close to the resize handles, which makes it harder to resize text frames — a much more frequent action than linking text.
While you're at it, please expand the interactive area around bounding box handles so the cursor stays in Scale mode slightly farther from the corners, reducing accidental switches to the Rotate tool when resizing objects.

Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Dear Adobe Team,
Can someone please explain why the Command + Space + drag-to-zoom behavior in InDesign was altered? This used to be a seamless, intuitive part of the workflow — one of those tiny things that made a big difference for power users.
Now, depending on the version or OS, it either doesn’t work, lags, or flat-out refuses to cooperate unless I perform keyboard yoga. This is not an improvement. This is disruption disguised as innovation.
I’m not asking for a new feature. I’m asking you to restore a basic function that worked perfectly well for decades. Was there truly a wave of users begging you to complicate the zoom tool?
Please bring back the classic Command + Space + drag zoom behavior. Some of us have muscle memory older than your interns.
Sincerely,
Kim Fowler

Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 crash when pasting certain string into text box with particular font
Hi, I’m a type designer and font delveloper (for more than 20 years) and have made a custom font (Latin) that makes extensive use of the Contextual Alternates feature (calt). Let's call the font FontXyz, it’s an OpenType CFF font (.otf).
These are the steps that always cause InDesign to crash
1: Text cursor is in an empty text box where my FontXyz is already set
2: Pasting the string “1234,-”
3: CrashI can prevent the crash by:
a: Putting my cursor in between two spaces and then pasting the string “1234,-”
b: Pasting the string without the “-”, thus pasting “1234,”The font has passed various validation tests (Fontbakery (even the “check-adobefonts” one), FontGoggles, Font Validator) and works without any issues in other MacOS apps (such as Microsoft Word, Pages, Figma and browsers).
The crash occurs in Adobe CC InDesign 2024 and 2025

PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
Adobe InDesign – PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
When exporting a document to PDF in Adobe InDesign, the software retains the page range from the previous export session and uses it as the default setting for the next export. This behavior can lead to unintentional partial exports if the user forgets to manually reset the page range to "All" before exporting a new document or version.
This issue disrupts workflow and increases the risk of delivering incomplete documents, particularly in environments with high output volume or multiple concurrent projects. It would be more efficient and user-friendly if InDesign automatically defaulted the page range to "All" for each new export operation, or at least provided an option in preferences to reset the range between exports.
We request Adobe to consider implementing this feature in a future update to improve usability and prevent accidental export errors.

[ID-4263586] Adobe InDesign 2025 text justify buttons issue
In the latest update of InDesign 2025 (as of writing this), there is a problem with the text justification buttons in the toolbar.
Previously, you could click these buttons and then just keep typing into your currently active text frame, which is what one would expect from previous versions of InDesign.
With the latest update, keyboard focus instead shifts over to these buttons, taking focus away from the text frame and your current text cursor position.
This is completely useless, and makes it more difficult than it should be to, say, change the justification at a certain line of text and then keep typing or navigating the text in the frame.Would appreciate a fix for this, as it is causing severe interruptions to my workflow, and the feature/bug benefits no one.

Aligning objects keeps button selected
When clicking align left edges / horizontal centres / vertical centres etc the button remains highlighted.
Then when trying to use the keyboard arrows to move the previously selected object - object does not move with the arrow key inputs.
This only happens on the top control panel rather than the separate align window.2 votes -
slow reaction
20.3.1 the version I just updated too (my bad! I should know by now not to update anything). Now, it takes a few seconds to recognize I've clicked on anything. I expect it would immediately acknowledge the click as it did before the update.

InDesign exports out incorrect pdf document when another InDesign file is open and detached from main panel
This is a weird bug that I just found. I'm using a Mac and have 3 monitors. The OS and all Adobe products are up to date. I am not using InDesign Beta. I have two separate InDesign files open and the second one is detached from the primary InDesign panel and on the other monitor. I have the primary document selected and go to File > Adobe PDF Presets > Press Quality and somehow InDesign will export out the other document that is not selected and on the other screen. I have recreated this twice with the same result. This only happens when I have another document open and detached onto the other monitor. The pdf will have the name of the file that it should be. However, its content will be the other file. Hope that makes sense.

pdf to indd conversion has no opt out
INDD version 20.3
Mac OS 15.4.1
Hardware: M1 Pro 32GB RAMThe beta feature that allows InDesign to convert PDFs does not belong in the core application. I've accidentally clicked on a PDF once or twice when trying to open my INDD doc and it takes forever for this thing to do the unwanted conversion. The cancel button does not work. I suspect it's communicating with the cloud to perform this operation, so the question is: Why is it built into Indesign? Can it not be placed in Express or Creative Cloud or somewhere else where it doesn't disrupt a person's workflow?
If a feature like this is going to be rolled out to all users of InDesign, regardless of their needs and wants, it should at least be easy to opt out. I'm not a UI expert, but my suggestion would be to add a menu item to the drop down in the Open dialog that lets users designate that only INDD files should be opened from there. That may not be the best suggestion, but the point is: always consider how annoying it can be to use software, and, when your designing new features, make sure you're not introducing another layer of annoyance to professionals who are just trying to get their work done.

[ID-4263189][CPU Mode][MAC]Selection of objects does not register immediately
I am trying to use the new 2025 version of InDesign - but it is really unusable. Running latest version (20.3) on Macos (15.4). Mac Studio with M2 Max CPU and 32 GB memory.
One major issue I am having is that when I select a text box, it will actually not select the box until I move the mouse again. I click the box and nothing happens. When I start moving the mouse - it suddenly gets selected. If I do not move the mouse - nothing is selected - until I move the mouse. This makes it impossible to use.
I've seen some tip on Document Font folder or Contextual Task Bar or Magnet app - but none of those are relevant for me.
InDesign 2024 version works fine and it does not have these issues.
I did a test on my Macbook Pro (Apple Silicon) - and no issue there - even using the same mouse as on the Mac Studio.
I see some posts that Adobe has fixed InDesign with latest update - but that is definitely not correct...
I uploaded a video to YouTube showing the issue. In the video one can see the pointer icon changing to the selection symbol when I actually click, but as you can see, the text box is not actually selected until I move the pointer.

Icon not showing in Windows File Explorer
InDesign v20.3 shows blank square in Windows File Explorer, instead of INDD Icon. Opens as expected in InDesign 2025.
I have already done icon cache rebuild, repair install, and reset file associations.
BTW The reason why it's important: InDesign icon isn't just cosmetic. It’s a visual anchor that helps you quickly pick .indd files out from folders full of images, PDFs, and links. Losing that icon seriously hurts workflow — especially in design-heavy environments with lots of asset types.
