De-Stick Alt Key After Zoom
When I press and hold the ALT key (Windows) to zoom with the mouse wheel, it doesn't release the way a sticky key should - once finished with mouse wheel zooming, I have to tap the Alt key a -second- time to release it. Not doing this results in the menu bar becoming active. Example: Press and hold Alt and zoom with the wheel. Finish zooming and release the sticky alt key. Now Tap the letter W to enter Preview mode ... but instead of Preview Mode, InDesign will drop down the --W--indow Menu, tapping W again then drops down the --W--orkspace menu etc. This is a workflow killer.
Adobe has other sticky keys that muscle memories remember (space bar, etc..) so to expect a) the user to remember that this tool behaves -different- and b) the user now has to add -additional- key strokes makes for a bad user interface experience.
Thanks in advance for fixing this

spelling
Hi, I just want you to reach out for me to the Developer team and Interface Design team of InDesign. Please tell them, that the spelling function on InDesign should undergo major improvements. It literally sucks. I've been using InDesign since 2007, and the web application, basically any, like Google, deepL, Grammarl, I think even OpenOffice... are much better. So in this matter, InDesign was never the first choice, more like the last.
-The first major problem it is very counter-intuitive to turn it on and make it work.
-the second, which describes the bug, I have changed my Spelling to German2006 multiple times and it continues in to correct spelling to French even though the whole interface is in English and was supposed to be English before.I am reaching out because I feel you need push to rethink the spelling on InDesign a bit. If I really want to make sure that my text has no spelling issues I go on google, deepL or Grammarly, etc.
I got used to working with an open browser application as mentioned, but It would be certainly helpful for the future if InDesign was more reliable in this point. Also, it would break down the working steps needed for a better workflow.Hi, I just want you to reach out for me to the Developer team and Interface Design team of InDesign. Using a variable font and exporting to PDF results in corrupted outlines in text
When using a variable font in InDesign v17.0.1 and exporting to PDF, the resulting file contains text with corrupted outlines. '.notdef' boxes get inserted into some glyphs as can be seen in the attached PDF.
This error also occurs in Illustrator.
When exporting to PDF using a non-Adobe application, no errors are seen.
Errors occur only when using variable version of the font an not the static versions.
Additional information and test fonts have been sent in an email to Josh Hadley.

InDesign 17.01: UI scaling range issue on high-DPI monitors
PROBLEM:
Since new UI scaling was invented in ID 17.01 all panels are displayed way too big and overlap in my resolution setup @ 2560x1440px and Windows OS scaling factor of 125%. The range is already at minimum. No work is possible anymore, I have to use ID 16.4 again and exchange via IDML. Please help!MY SETUP:
2x EIZO CS2730 27" monitor @ 2560x1440px
Windows display settings scaling factor: 125 % (needed, otherwise everything in the system is too small e. g. fonts, menus, explorer, browserPlease have a look at the two screenshots showing the InDesign environment at 125% Windows OS display size and at 100% "standard size".
SOLUTION:
I ask Adobe to extend the UI scaling range to more "stops" and make lower values accessible for high-DPI monitor setups with Windows OS scaling factors above 100%. Thank you!!PROBLEM:

Thumbnails in Pages Panel are blank even though pages have content (Id 17.0, Mac Big Sur)
The thumbnails displayed in the Pages Panel show up blank even though there is content in the pages themselves. See attached. This is most likely a bug.

Share for Review
After sending out a "Share for Review" in InDesign, I went back to the file after people made comments and when I go to the review, the only option is to create a new review. But if i go to my email notification and click on the link, I can see the review that way. I did not "save as" to the file.
3 votesOpen the Review panel (Window>Comments>Review) to see the comments made by the people with whom you had shared the document for review.

Display Performance Issues
InDesign 2022 is having issues with Display Performance that results in spinning wheels and instability.
The only way to scroll successfully without locking up is to adjust the Display Performance settings under Preferences. On all previous versions, I have always had my settings to High quality. Now, the only way to be able to use the program without issue is to change the Raster and Vector settings to Proxy instead of High.
I can continue working that way, but the result is that all my graphics are pixelated and grainy, making it near impossible to see what I am working with.
Is this an issue others are having with the new release?

Vector Objects changing size when page layout is duplicated
While using InDesign v17 I've encountered a bug where some small rectangular vector objects will get larger when a page is duplicated using the "Create Alternate Layout" feature in the "Pages" tab. This has also occurred when a page or layout is dragged and dropped to the "Create New Page" icon to create a duplicate in the "Pages" tab. Design elements should not change when a layout is duplicated, and this did not happen in previous versions.
This first appeared in an .idml file that was created in 2019, and carries over to new files based on that .idml. It does not seem to occur with .idml files made in 2020 or 2021

When I save out an IDML version of my INDD 2022 v17.0 file, the text boxes from my Master page are in a different location on every spread.
Also, when I tried opening my INDD file in an older version (INDD v1.64) nothing happened. My file did not appear in the window, so I couldn't "go back" to an older version of INDD.

Can't open some Indesign files in finder
Since the latest 2022 update certain Indesign files will not open via finder - either by double clicking the file icon or going command>O. The app doesn't even acknowledge your action, only workaround is by opening via the app which is an absolute pain. Absolutely ridiculous.

Alt text missing on hyperlinks after "Export as Interactive PDF"
I work primarily in InDesign and create accessible PDFs. During the design stage, I always add the alt text when creating hyperlinks or adding images, and export it as an interactive PDF.
As we know, after updating beyond InDesign version 16.1, the hyperlink alt text will not appear on the Link tag, but instead, it appears on the "Link - OBJR" (aka "Annotation") tag within the Link tag.
I work on long reports that usually have hundreds of hyperlinks and this is a big and very time-consuming problem for me, so I reverted back to v 16.1.
I've been ignoring the past several updates for InDesign, but my CC updated it to v 17 and v 16.1 is no longer available.
Is there an acceptable solution or workaround?
Can this be fixed in a future InDesign version???
The world is becoming more accessible and this bug is quite a big problem for designers like myself.

Linked EPS appears with jagged/rough edges even on High Quality Display
I've never seen this before, but linked vector EPS files aren't previewing properly in InDesign. The edges are super jagged when they should be smooth lines.
3 votesPlease mention the version of InDesign you’re seeing this issue with.
Also, if you could share a couple of sample EPS files, it would be great. Please send these to sharewithID@adobe.com—

Swipe Gestures not working
'Swipe Gestures to navigate within pages' used to work earlier in both mobile phones and laptops.
But recently when I tried, Swipe Gestures are not working at all.
Adobe clearly mentions that publish online supports smooth gesture controls : https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/publish-online.htmlPlease fix this ASAP.

Shift + Tab / Ctrl + Shift + Tab doesn't work properly with reordered Windows
Shift + Tab usually switches to the next open window/project. with Ctrl is switches to previous window.
That works so far.It doesn't work anymore though, as soon as you rearrange the order of the windows.
Say you have project A, Project B, Project C open, but you move the window from Project C between A and B
so now its: A, C, B
if I now want to switch from C to B I would click Shift + Tab. But instead to the obvious next Tab "project B" it switches STILL to A.
So Indesign constantly remembers the original order, no matter how you sort the tabs, which is kinda stupid. I think this should be fixed.
For instance this works as it should in Illustrator already.
Photoshop has the same Problem as Indesign.Shift + Tab usually switches to the next open window/project. with Ctrl is switches to previous window.
