  2. Indesign color separations preview does not work correctly

The preview goes haywire when I turn separations on and off in InDesign. See screengrabs. Is there a workaround? I have ben unable to find one so far - are Adobe just choosing to ignore this issue?

  3. InDesign leading changes not applying

Whenever I change the leading (line spacing) under Character styles, the document won't accept the changes. I tried saving, quitting the program, and reopening, but the problem persists. Doesn't matter whether I apply the style to a single line or multiple lines.

  4. Command-Tab doesn't switch to Indesign document

I use Command-Tab constantly on MacOS to switch between Indesign and other open apps on my system. In ID2019, when I use the shortcut to switch back to ID from another app, it no longer consistently brings the frontmost open ID document into focus. Instead what happens is the palettes will come in to view but the frontmost window of the app I'm switching from is still on top of the open ID file. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's very annoying. I am most often switching between ID and Acrobat Pro or Google Chrome…

  5. InDesign performance issue: Lags when selecting and moving items using wacom tablet

On a iMac with 32 GB RAM running under macOS 10.14.4 (18E226) InDesign v.14.0.2.324 with Wacom Intuos Pro tablet (6.3.24-1) in some documents cursor / items handling is unresponsive, lagging or too sensitive (click is registered when there was no click, dragging happens yet it wasn't been ignited).

  6. Index sorting does not care about language setting

    1. InDesign 14.0.1 x64
    2. Create a document.

Add an index reference for the word "Skrå".
Add an index reference for the word "Skrivare".
Add an index reference for the word "Överleva".
Add an index reference for the word "Ondska".

Go to index Sort Settings. Select Header Type Finnish/Swedish for the Roman script.

    Generate an index.

    Observe:
    Ondska is placed under O.
Överleva is placed under Ö. Which is at the end of the alphabet. This is as it should be, here in Sweden-land.

    However:
Skrivare is placed below Skrå. Despite å being placed last in the swedish alphabet. We have "å,…

  7. pasteboard

what have you done to the pasteboard??
why do I have to jump through hoops to see objects off my pages? I routinely put things there I might need and now I have to rework my layouts too see the pasteboard.

IF I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE PASTEBOARD, I HAVE PRESENTATION VIEW.

stop with the needless changes and do some real improvements, ents, like allowing me to select various points (from different strokes) and align them without moving all the strokes.

  8. Cannot save cross-reference format with delimiter set to "false"

When creating a cross-reference format to control the appearance of a cross reference, using the <fullPara delim="" includeDelim="false"/> format refuses to save the includeDelim="false" component in the format. It will save a value of "true" but after entering false and choosing save, upon editing the reference format, the includeDelim="false" property is gone.

  9. InDesign crashes on launch in "PlugPlugOwl.dll"

InDesign 2019 doesn't open after the first loading box on startup. I downloaded 2018, 2017 and 2015. 2015 is the only one that works at the moment but the others have the same issue.
My computers processor is Intel Pentium 1.5 GHz
    I've attached the crash report.

  10. table of contents bold italic

    1. Use a style for a header that converts text to bold face.

    2. Use that header style to have header text that includes some italics.

    3. In the Table of Contents pane, associate that header style with a style that is Regular type face.

    4. When updating the Table of Contents, the entry for that header will correctly have Bold text replaced with Regular text, but will leave Bold Italic text unchanged. It should replace Bold Italic text with Regular Italic text.

  11. Keyboard input problem

    Windows 10. ID 14.0.1
This is similar to the 'missing first character' issue many of us have seen in the past. What happens, randomly, your keyboard input doesn't quite work. You can try various shortcuts and they simply will not work. You have to create (or go into) a text box, type some text.. and THEN keyboard shortcuts will suddenly work again.
    Acrobat does the same thing.
Very annoying that when you think you've saved a file that it has NOT been saved.. you only find out when going to close a file that your 'ctrl S' did not work.

  12. GREP styles make UI drastically unresponsive in CC (while still fine in CS6)

    Indesign 14.0.1, german, win7

For comparison in Indesign CS6 create a fresh single-page standard document, DinA4. Create a large textframe with 2 columns on page, fill frame with blind text. Have some styles with GREP styles looking for charactercombinations... (I know GREP styles are computationally intense, that's not the point.)
Click and drag the the textframe with the mouse. The text gets greeked/switched off, the frame border is refreshed/re-drawn like 80 frames per second silky smooth WITH the grep styles. Save the document. Open that document in Indesign CC. Click and drag the frame - it's slow, like 2-5 frames…

We’ve seen this issue happen when you have the same Font already installed on your machine.

So you may try going to where your Fonts are installed on Windows machine – (Control panel > Fonts) and uninstall/remove the Fonts that you are unable to Sync from Adobe Fonts.

Hopefully, the problem should get resolved.

  15. Embedded PDF/AI images causes documents created from IDMLs to double in size

File size almost doubles when exporting an INDD document to IDML and then re-save it as an INDD if it has embedded PDF or AI images.

    Create a new InDesign document.
Place a PDF/AI image in it.
Embed the image in the InDesign file.
    Save the InDesign file.
Export the InDesign file to IDML.
Open the IDML and save it as an INDD document.

The resulting INDD document will have a file size of almost double the size of the original INDD document. This affects all versions of InDesign (CS6-CC2019) and embedded PDFs created in different applications (Illustrator, Acrobat, Preview).

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

  19. Crashes when Placing Docs from Microsoft Word

Since updating to CC2019 I am having constant crashes when placing from Microsoft Word.
The same documents were not an issue last week when using CC2018, both the same InDesign doc and word doc worked perfectly together.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this critical issue - I'm on a business critical deadline, failing to meet it quite literally means the closure of our business.

  20. PDF Comments not hiding

PDF Comment import does not hide comments on the layout after the Hide Comments on Layout button is pressed.

The following is the process I followed:
    - Displayed the PDF Comments pane in InDesign.
    - Imported comments from PDF's.
    - Selected the Hide Comments on Layout Button in the PDF Comments pane.
    * Comments are hidden from view.
    - Leave the InDesign window
    - Return to InDesign, and some of the comment boxes are shown, some are not shown, and some are partially shown (the box is cut in half).
    - Move cursor over the Show Comments on Layout button.…
