Indesign with overprint exporting as blank PDF
I've got a bunch of InDesign files from different artists that all have overprinted objects. I then place all of these into a master InDesign file and arrange them. However when exporting the PDF is blank.
If I place PDF's instead of InDesign files though, the final PDF will export fine. Any one know why this is?

Arabic Diacritic Stacking Broken in v21.2 – Kasra Always Attaches Under Shadda When Ligatures Enabled
Severity: Critical
InDesign Version: 21.2 x64
Language: Arabic (RTL)Bug Summary
Incorrect positioning of Arabic diacritics (Kasra + Shadda) when ligatures are enabled.
Input order of combining marks is ignored, breaking previous behavior (pre-v17).Environment
Text Direction: RTL
Language: Arabic
Font: KFGQPC Uthman Taha Naskh
Composer: World-Ready Composer
Ligatures: Enabled
Diacritic Positioning panel tested (no effect)
Description
In versions up to 17, manual input order of Arabic diacritics controlled stacking:
Kasra (U+0650) then Shadda (U+0651) → Kasra under base letter
Shadda then Kasra → Kasra under Shadda
In version 21.2 x64, InDesign enforces mark-to-mark positioning strictly.
Kasra always attaches under Shadda, regardless of input order. This removes manual typographic control required in professional Arabic publishing.
Not a Font Issue
Font tested: KFGQPC Uthman Taha Naskh
Works correctly in Microsoft Word
Word respects input order
Therefore issue originates from InDesign shaping engine, not the font
Workarounds Tested
1. Disable LigaturesResult: Kasra appears under base letter (correct)
Problem: Not viable for production — breaks Arabic typography and workflow in large documents (800+ pages)- Diacritic Positioning Panel
No effect on stacking behavior
- GREP + Baseline Shift
Only visual workaround — not a shaping fix
Additional Observation
If entering:
Kasra + Shadda + KasraThe Kasra appears under the base letter (duplicated), indicating partial internal support for alternate stacking.
Steps to Reproduce
Set paragraph direction to RTL
Use font: KFGQPC Uthman Taha Naskh
Enable Ligatures
Type a letter + Kasra + Shadda
Observe: Kasra appears under Shadda
Disable Ligatures
Observe: Kasra appears under base letter
Impact
Breaks classical Arabic typography control
Affects religious and academic publishing
Removes backward compatibility with previous versions
Forces manual verification in large documents
Request
Please investigate:
Interaction between ligatures and mark-to-mark positioning
Changes introduced after v17
Possibility of restoring manual diacritic stacking behavior
Or adding an option such as:
“Respect input order for Arabic diacritics”Immediate attention requested due to impact on professional Arabic publishing workflows

Mac OS Tahoe, INDD version 21.2 and can't place a jpg. That simple. Seems silly report. Files open, anc can't be modified, error here, error trying to close. But main problem, can't place a jpg.

Sharing for review results in an error. InDesign 21.2
When sharing for review, when I modify content and it updates, it takes longer than usual and eventually throws an error. This has happened three times already. Then I have to create a new review link. The downside is that if the document already has comments or corrections marked, I have to open the previous link.

Opens in old version after the latest automatic upgrade
When I double click on an InDesign file in a folder, why are my files trying to open in an older version of InDesign (2025), when I have the latest version installed? It wasn't happening before the latest version of InDesign 2026 was updated today, and I can't work out how to stop it happening in future, so that any file I click on opens in the latest version of InDesign, not an old one. I have specified that any *.indd file should open in the latest version, but that doesn't resolve the problem.

colour rendition
The colors in the pages tab reflect those in the jpgs imported into indesign. But these colours are not shown in the main part of the main part of the screen. These latter colours are less saturated and the white balance seems to be off, as if pushed to a cooler palette. The screen shots included below show this effect. When the application is first opened, the colours are OK for about a minute or so, and then they are altered as described.
This happens with both 2025 & 20236 versions, ie 20.5.2x64 & 21.2x64

Text outside of text frame (top of frame)
Version 21.2
I saw this error in earlier versions of InDesign, but it was later fixed. Now it appears to have returned. I copied text into a text frame and the intelligent text flow created additional pages and frames to fit the text. While scrolling through the document, I noticed that the text in some frames (fewer than 5%) is partially positioned above the top of the frame (see image). To fix this, I open the Text Frame Options, change the vertical justification, and then change it back to the original setting (Top). The frame then fits the text correctly.

InD closes itself 50% of time when I close my last open doc; very annoying
I'm using InD 2026 recent release (today is 2/10/26). About 50 percent of the time, when I close my last open document, InD will close itself entirely. I have to go through the hassle of reopening it to get back to work. Then, upon reopen, it says that the last doc I closed may be damaged. This doesn't fly when you've just laid out and saved a 300-page text book. Can this be fixed soonest?

Page Jumps When Deleting Items
When I delete an object, the page jumps. See examples...
This happens on my work PC and home PC; both separate accounts.

Text disappears.
Entire page of text disappears randomly. InDesign provided a temporary fix and then a more permanent one in the most recent update. Worked for awhile. Has started happening again. Have to use revert key to get back text and start over.

Severe UI Latency and Rendering Delays After Updating to Version 21.0 and Later (Windows 11 – Build 26200.7923)
Description:
After updating to Version 21.0 and all subsequent releases, the application exhibits significant UI latency and rendering delays. The user interface becomes intermittently unresponsive, with interactions (panel updates, tool changes, UI redraws, etc.) taking 30–40 seconds to visually update. This behavior occurs consistently across sessions.
Environment:OS: Windows 11 Pro — Build 26200.7923
Storage Tested: OneDrive-based project files and fully local NVMe SSD storage (no performance difference)
Systems Tested: Issue reproduced on two separate PCs with different hardware configurations
Application Versions Tested: 21.0 and all newer versionsObserved Behavior:
UI redraws and component updates are extremely slow (~30–40 seconds).
General interface interaction becomes sluggish or temporarily unresponsive.
No improvement when:Moving project files off OneDrive to a local NVMe drive
Restarting the application or OS
Clearing caches
Testing on a second machine with clean installationExpected Behavior:
Instant or near‑instant UI responsiveness similar to pre‑21.0 builds.
No dependency on storage location for UI performance.Impact:
This issue severely affects workflow efficiency—basic tasks become slow and cumbersome, significantly reducing productivity.
Additional Notes:
Based on testing, the problem appears to be directly related to changes introduced in Version 21.0 and later, and not environmental factors such as hardware, storage, or cloud syncing.
Regards,

AI alt text sould NOT be on by default
Gross decision to have this "feature" on by default. Good thing I didn't miss the popup on startup, I NEVER want any AI features at all ever, let alone to have to OPT OUT? Madness. Also ridiculous is the option to turn off the the "AI generated content" tag on this "feature" at all. Why would you allow that? I guess it's in line with all of the untagged AI on Adobe Stock lol.

Poor error messaging when PDF fails t oexport
Hi. I frequently export massive PDFs for event walls, things like that. Indesign crashes all the time doing this, and the error messages I get are the opposite of verbose. They just crash and say try again, no indication of the object or page causing the crash, let alone actual solution advice. This drives me absolutely nuts, it basically reads as indesign not being able to do what I have used it for for years for no reason. I can't be alone in this, the lack of any detail in these crash messages is awful for my productivity.

PDF Not updating on export
Adobe InDesign 21.2
I've been noticing when I export a pdf and override my last version that the changes do not update the new pdf version. I have to change the file name completely. I even deleted the file, re-exported, with the same name and it pulls the old PDF up!
I've used this process for awhile and it's suddenly not working.1 vote -

Any Indesign version after 20.5.1 will not export .pngs properly (grey boxes)
When I create a file which has images linked in it (such as a .png file) and then export the file as a .png file as I need, the placed image files export as grey boxes. This has been an ongoing issue every since the version 21 update. The only solution for me has been to go back to version 20.5.1. I keep hoping this will be fixed in the updates that have come out since, but it has not.

I'm able to select objects and edit them even though they're on hidden layers
The latest InDesign is very glitchy and unreliable, this is one of the main visible problems

Cloud Service - not finding files
New ID release is buggy as all getout. More things than I have time to catalog. However, #1 most critical... I've upload jpg files to the cloud server from Photoshop. I can see the file using my browser. Trying to find the image file and place it in an ID document it is nowhere to be found. Tried this dozens of times, same result. Other times try to fetch an ID document form the server and I just get he spinning wheel of death. Creating a new ID document and push it to the server and get the spinning wheel of death. Close ID, restart ID, sometime I can create and save just fine. Other times, spinning wheel of death. There is simply no way I can work with this. I am now resorting to saving all work on my local drive till you guys figure out what is going on.

Shadow in exported PNG
Shadow in Indesign are fine, but when I export as PNG it looks like the shadow has been moved. I've already tried to delete and re-create the object or copying everything into a new document but nothing works.
