Please add a “Left and Right Spacing” measurement to the “Underline” box. CC 2026 21.1
Please add a "Left and Right Spacing" measurement to the "Underline" box. There are issues with hyphens. With unhyphens, pressing the Enter key and spacebar takes a long time. The problem also occurs when making corrections to the text.

Object Menu, Arrange for Text blocks not working
InDesign version 21.0.2 x64
I have used Adobe InDesign since 1997 (first introduced to me at school while I was learning Quark), more full-time since 2002 (worked at a newspaper). I have always been able to use the Object menu to either move objects in front of or in back of others. This still seems to work in 2025 with actual objects, i.e., rectangles, ovals, etc. It no longer works as of today with text blocks. In my remote conversation with Manoj, the only workaround is to either type my text into a color block and reposition it, or perhaps shorten my other color block and add text on top of it. This happened after a recent Windows 11 update, but, the program worked as expected until this morning. That leads me to believe this was a deliberate change by Adobe. That's ridiculous, in my opinion. WHY would Adobe remove a key feature from InDesign's page layout function? Please return this function - it's important for those who spend much of their time doing page layouts for clients. Thank you.

Updated version 21.0.2 features not working
Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: 21.0.2, updated 12.01.2025
Steps to reproduce the issues: There are multiple issues occurring.
1. Open existing file, last saved on 11.03.2025.
2. App freezes when trying to use any function, e.g. copy/paste, duplicate page. Takes up a few minutes for any function to complete.
3. When trying to save the file, I have to save as a new file.
4. When exporting to PDF, does not Use InDesign Document Name as the Output File Name despite being selected. If selecting Range, only allows All Pages in dropdown. Does not export accessibility tags despite having both Create Tagged PDF and Use Structure for Tab Order are selected.Expected result: for the file to use the document name as the PDF file name, for it to be able to export only a range, and to have accessibility tags preserved in PDF.
Actual result:
1. Freeze and lag with each step of the process.
2. File will not export to PDF. Sometimes getting a Failure pop up but cannot identify any issue.
3. Have to choose option to open file with, but it does not save the file in the location I selected. I have to resave it in order to run Accessibility Checker.
4. No tags export with file even though everything is properly mapped in InDesign and exports made 11.3.25 retained the tags.Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)

incorrect shadow from a group of objects
If you add a shadow to a group consisting of several graphic objects and at least one text object, the shadow behaves unpredictably when you move the group. Despite the values set in the corresponding settings window, it may change direction, density, blur distance, etc.

resizing
I'm unfortunately using InDesign 2026.0.2. One of my coworkers had the brilliant idea to update on day 1 ...
I'm on Apple Silicon M1, with 2 monitors. Now, when I open up any document (I don't use application frame) it opens normal, as in any version before, size of 1 monitor, between upper task bar and macOS (26.1) dock. But as soon as you do anything, including opening a second file, the canvas expands way beyond the lower end and the right side of the monitor, making it impossible to work on the lower part of the last page of a document. The only way to avoid it, is to resize the canvas window as the first step after opening. Still opening a second file ruins that work around.
It's annoying, as InDesign was actually for me the only Adobe program that was made with usability in mind. Using and loving it (mostly ;)) since version 1.5. And now I'm spending more time closing and opening files than actually working on them.
Thanks for helping me with the problem.I'm unfortunately using InDesign 2026.0.2. One of my coworkers had the brilliant idea to update on day 1 ...

Drop Cap kerning and tweaking
Can the team look at users being able to kern and make further edits to Drop Caps, to fit better with body text rather than having to manually paste in an anchored object to get it to look the way we want?

share for review completely broken in ID and online
Share for review is completely useless and does not work in the latest release on osX Tahoe. I can see the comments from clients listed in the panel, however they are not marked in the document and when clicked on them it does not show you where. So i have to open the comments in a browser (and its buggy even there!!!) and locate the reviews manuall.y. Also, when i update documents (also in AI), i always get a red popup saying that the file update has failed (although it does not fail and the changes are updated). Anyway, a horribly broken feature right now and im losing my mind over it.

MathML Rendering Error
In InDesign v21.0, the updated Maths Expressions Panel automatically inserts mathvariant="normal" into the root <math> element after I edit an equation using the new panel. This behaviour does not occur until the equation is edited in version 21.0, but once it happens, the MathML rendering is altered incorrectly.
Issue Details
When I open and edit an existing MathML equation in the new Maths Expressions Panel (v21.0), InDesign injects mathvariant="normal" into the <math> tag upon saving.
This overrides the default MathML behaviour and forces all <mi> elements to render upright (normal) instead of italic.• Manually deleting the attribute does not help—InDesign re-adds it every time I save or update the equation.
• Choosing Italic under Typefaces Properties → Font Style further breaks MathML rules by causing <mn> and <mo> elements to become italic, which is incorrect.
• The issue appears to originate from the new Font Style feature introduced in v21.0.Impact
Once an equation is edited in version 21.0, its typography becomes incorrect. This affects mathematical accuracy, consistency, and the overall quality of my project’s typesetting.Requested Fix

GPU Accelerated Preview Issues on Windows 11
InDesign 2025 & 2026 (v21.0 & v20.5.1)
PC running Windows 11 Pro
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 16-Core Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
Display: ASUS ProArt PA279CRV @3840x2160
RAM: 64GB DDR5 @6000 MT/s
Storage: Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 2TBThere are mainly 3 issues, that have not improved with the new version:
Animated zoom is broken; it's laggy, and does not zoom in on the actual point of focus where you click with your cursor, making it worse and slower to use than CPU Preview's regular zoom, and in many cases it literally zooms you in on a point outside the artboard and out of your page. The same issue was described in an older bug and was marked as "fixed" when in fact it wasn't. (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/50037261--id-4264855-issue-with-animated-zoom-in-gpu )
Panning/using the hand tool while zoomed in on a page containing pictures, with "Display Performance" set to "High Quality Display", with GPU Accelerated Preview is slow and causes massive stutters compared to CPU Preview, its stuttering is very irregular it ends up causing eye strain and headaches after long use. The issue is not present with "Typical Display", but at that stage the performance is the same as CPU Preview so makes you wonder what's the point.
When working on a text layout and adjusting the flow of the text, when the end of the text moves from the last page to the page before, GPU Preview sometimes keeps a ghost of the last page containing text, even though the page before is now showing the updated content. CPU Preview shows it correctly. It can only be fixed by entering some new text into the original "last" page forcing it to refresh the preview.
The first two issues are constant and are the most critical, as they make InDesign quite frustrating to use, and make GPU acceleration completely useless.
I couldn't add a video of #3 as the content of the pages was confidential, but will try to take a video when it happens again on a different document.

copy something with a shadow from one document moves the shadows randomly
in the version 21.0 of Indesign when you copy something with a shadow from one document into another and moves it the shadows move to random positions. Workaround: You need to select them manually deactivate and activate them to get them back at the right position.

palettes stay closed
Our entire department recently did the newest update to Adobe InDesign (21.0)
Steps to reproduce the issues: Close document and open another oneEvery single time I open a new file (which is many times per day) the pallets do not pop open. The workspace still looks like it should and when I click on a pallet to use it, it highlights like it would if it was popped open for use but nothing happens.
Expected result: Pallets pop open so I can make changes on my file
Actual result: Pallets highlight like they will open but actually stay closed and do nothingThe only way I have found to make this work is to reset the workspace (whether it's one you have saved as your own or just using a default). EVERY. SINGLE. TIMEEE PLEASE FIX THIS

Adobe InDesign 2026 doesn't play well with 2025
It's absolutely ridiculous to me that the 2025 version and 2026 version are incompatible with each other. I can't open old files easily with the new software. I can't drag and drop items from an older file to a new file. The functionality is absolutely awful. Do better.

Clicking icons (sometimes) does not open the palette
Version: Indesign 21.0
Expected result: clicking the icon opens the palette
Actual result: the palette does not open, even though the icon has a "clicked" appearance
Steps to reproduce: I haven't figured out, it seems to happen randomly... but restarting the program fixes itNote:
The problem affects the entire column of icons shown in the screenshot, not just the clicked one.2 votes -
Review links broke after InDesign updated to version 21
After sending an InDesign document out for review and others made comments, InDesign updated to version 21. Now the links are broke and the comments in the review are inaccessible.

When importing tables through tagged text, formatting inexplicably and erratically lost; extra hard returns inserted
- Adobe InDesign 20.5
- Flow the attached .txt files (tagged text) into an InDesign file. you'll need paragraph styles "TABC", "TABH1", "TABTX", and "TAB" (the paragraph for the table). You'll also need table style "TAB" and a cell style "tabtx".
- The last cell in table 19.2 should be empty—no hard return. The the text in row 2, column 3 of table 19.4, "katab" should be italic.
- There's a hard return in the last cell of table 19.2; any text in cell R2C3 in table 19.4 is not ital (but note that the text in table 19.2 at R2C3 is italic as expected.
- See the attached tagged text and Word files as well as the attached screen shot.
When importing tagged text, I am seeing some formatting—like italic—dropped, and I'm also seeing extra hard returns inserted in the last cell of the table. These problems seem to be intermittent and unpredictable. For example, in a cell with this text
<CellStart:><ParaStyle:TAB_TX><cTypeface:Italic>katab<cTypeface:><CellEnd:>
"katab" is not being italicized, but in a cell with this text
<CellStart:><ParaStyle:TAB_TX><cTypeface:Italic>qəṭál<cTypeface:><CellEnd:>
"qəṭál" is italicized just fine.
If I copy and paste the "qəṭál" cell into the first file replacing the "katab" cell, "qəṭál" is not italicized. I've attached the tagged text and Word files for each.
The other weird thing I'm seeing is a hard return inserted in an otherwise empty last cell in the table. You can see it in the table 19.4 file.
If it helps, I can upload the InDesign template as well.
