Certain placed PDFs look fine but become strange when part of InDesign export to PDF
InDesign version 18.3. The issue is explained thoroughly in this forum thread, with lots of example exports: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf-export-messes-up-placed-pdf-and-is-affected-by-mark-bleed-settings/m-p/13957529
Summary: If you place either of the attached PDFs (which were made in Word for Mac), and then try to make a PDF from InDesign, the black rectangle that is in the background of the content will change size unexpectedly. It will always look fine in InDesign but mess up when exported. And the degree to which it changes will vary depending on various factors like marks and bleed, which should have nothing to do with the placed PDF.

ID window stutters when minimizing on MacBook Air M2 running StageManager
I know you're working on making ID run natively on the M2 chip. One glitch...when minimizing the app on my new MacBook Air M2 /Ventura, the ID window stutters as it shrinks to the desktop -- instead of smoothly moving as other apps. This happens with all my Adobe apps, but it's most noticeable with InDesign. It's a minor glitch but visually annoying.

Importing PDF Comments: inclusion of Sticky Notes slows InDesign down to a crawl.
When importing PDF Comments, it is mostly a breeze until the editor/author applies a 'Sticky Note'.
Moving through a document where 'Sticky Notes' have been added, the page, and surrounding pages, slows InDesign to a crawl and can take a few minutes to apply one change.
While my workaround is to run through all the 'Sticky Notes' in the PDF file first and apply those changes independently before deleting them, I can then import the PDF Comments in the usual way to speed up the remaining part of the process without being hindered.

After Update to Indesign 18.4.: Bad Performance with anchored TextFrames and vertical jusitification
I have a document with a text frame which is vertically justified and contains some anchored objects. Editing text in this text frame works but it is very slow in 18.4
In version 18.3 it runs quicker.2 votes -
PDF export wrong PDF version
We are using InDesign server 18 to export InDesign files to PDF. The last months (since november, when we updated from 17 to 18) we are noticing that we have problems with disappearing transparancy.
After a lot of research we found out that although the joboptions have the settings to export version 1.3, the server exports to version to a PDF 1.4. The PDF standard that is used is PDF X-1a:2003. This seems why transparancy is disappearing. I cannot reproduce this manually with the local version of InDesign I think because there is no possibility to use PDF-x1a:2003 and version 1.4 together in the local version of InDesign.
Because we have to deliver to printing systems we need to deliver as PDF 1.3 because 1.4 most often can't be handled.
We already reinstalled our InDesign server but the problems still appears. Now desperate what to do because it causes lots of mistakes.
Attached you'll find a result PDF from the InDesign server. I cannot upload the joboptions and indesign file but I do have those as an example.
I hope you have a solution soon.

InDesign hangs for minutes when I/O for Document fonts is slow
Using version 18.2.1 and opening a document that has an associated "Document fonts" folder alongside, the app performs a lot of I/O on the main thread. If the fonts are on slower storage, the app will open the document, but the window is completely frozen, since all those I/O calls are performed on the main thread.
Note the attached traces: some calls are even performed twice for the same file. Can the CT calls be moved off the main thread?

variable font bugging out in InDesign
I am using General Sans variable font in Indesign which has not stopped working properly after packaging the document and prepping it to print.
Some areas of the font are showing as Italics even though they are not and should not be and there is no way to change them.
After researching it looks like variable fonts are not ready to be used in all Adobe programs for a seamless process.

Drag-and-Drop text editing in Layout view problems
I was working on InDesign layout with Word text with some text originally in Arabic - with some numbers (dates) only for a reason I cannot understand, but it was a text about oriental philosophy... I discovered that my body text paragraph style (for a strange reason) used Adobe Worlld-Ready Single-Line Composer (it was not my choice!). That selection made the one letter Drag-and-Drop editor in the Layout view not work correctly. When I changed the composer to a simple paragraph composer everything is OK again...
Made an experiment - on Latin-based text with World-Redy composer one cannot use Drag-andDrop edit on one letter. But change the composer and all is well again...I was working on InDesign layout with Word text with some text originally in Arabic - with some numbers (dates) only for a reason I cannot understand, but it was a text about oriental philosophy... inDesign 18.3.0.50 often impossible to save document
inDesign 18.3.0.50 often impossible to save document. Very annoying because to continue I'm forced to close the file / application and therefore I lose all the changes.

Package-PDF and Export-PDF create different results
Mac OS Monterey 12.6 / Adobe InDesign 18.3
Function "Create Package" with a PDF and selected job.options (PDF Presets) creates PDF with wrong downsampling for images.
Function "Export PDF" with same PDF Preset creates PDF with expected quality
Why is there a difference?

Drop Cap size, is based on next character
Indesign 2023 Hebrew Version
Macbook Pro M1When i create a drop cap, the size of the drop cap is changing based on the next character after the drop cap, it only happens when the leading is fixed, when the leading is auto, it just moves up and down based on the size of the next character.
As you can see in the attached images, both paragraphs have the same style but when i change the size of the character after the drop cap the size or the leading of the drop cap changes2 votes -
Line Jumps by Half its Stroke Weight in InDesign CC (Version 18.3)
In InDesign CC (Version 18.3), there is a persistent bug where a line jumps unexpectedly by half its stroke weight when attempting to change its length. This issue has been present for some time and occurs consistently. Enabling or disabling the scaling options in the settings does not have any effect on this behavior.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open InDesign CC (Version 18.3) on the affected system.
2. Create a new document page or open an existing document.
3. Draw a line with any length and stroke weight.
4. Select the line to edit it.
5. Try to change the length of the line by dragging one of its ends or adjusting the properties in the control panel.
6. Observe how the line unexpectedly jumps by half its stroke weight.Expected Behavior:
The length of the line should adjust accordingly to the changes made without any unexpected shifts or jumps.Actual Behavior:
When attempting to adjust the line's length, it consistently jumps by half its stroke weight, resulting in incorrect positioning.Additional Information:
- The bug consistently occurs and affects every line when attempting to change its length.
- Enabling or disabling the scaling options in the settings does not impact the occurrence of this issue.

Relinking a .webp image with an embedded ICC profile freezes InDesign 2023
When you try to relink a new image to an existing one, and the new image is in .webp format with an embedded ICC profile, InDesign 2023 hangs. This is reproducible. Relinking works as expected if the .webp image does not have an embedded ICC profile.

Preview settings are not beeing saved anymore
For years I set my preview size to 1024x1024px, which is the largest option. Since InDesign 18.2.1 the preview size setting resets itself after a restart of InDesign to 512x512px.

Fit Frame to Content multicolumn text frame
InDesign 18.3 but has been doing this for many years.
Draw a single column text frame next to a multicolumn text frame, have the same number of lines in both frames, apply Fit Frame to Content with any method to both frames, they will most likely not be the same height. You can change the width of the multicolumn frame and then Fit Frame to Content might get closer.
Should be the same height if all text styling is the same.
Variable height on the multicolumn frame, doing Fit Frame to Content a few times and can change it each time.
This is particularly frustrating when you cannot align the top of the frames due to layout, so instead, you have to zoom in, place a guide, and manually nudge so the text baselines line up.

Adjust Layout Moves Locked Guides when "Adjust Locked Content" Option is Disabled
Locked guides that overlap the page margins move when using Adjust Layout while "Adjust Locked Content" is unchecked.
Expected behavior: Locked guides shouldn't move when using Adjust Layout unless "Adjust Locked Content" is checked. Unlocked guides should move regardless of the option being checked.
Steps to reproduce:
Add ruler guides to a page that overlap the page margins
Lock guides "View > Grids & Guides > Lock Guides"
Open "Layout > Margins & Columns"
Enable "Adjust Layout" and uncheck "Adjust Locked Content"
Increase or decrease the size of a margin that overlaps the guideI haven't found any workaround for this bug and it's a major hinderance when adjusting the layout of many pages simultaneously as I have to manually re-adjust the guides on each page.

Unable to relink more than one image at a time
Cannot relink more than one image at a time in InDesign 18.2.1 (2023) even when "search for missing links in this folder" box is ticked. Therefore I have to import each image individually, which is time consuming. Has anyone else come across this annoying problem at all?
