1. Adobe Digital Editions opens links in unsupported version of Windows Explorer

   ADE opens hyperlinks in Windows Explorer, which is retired and out of support. There doesn't seem to be a way to specify a different browser in which to open links. I am using the most recent version of ADE (4.5.11.187303)

2. Code of QR codes bugged?

   I use ID 2023 on a mac. I want to generate a vCard and have to use v3.0 because of some problems with special characters, that are not shown correctly with 2.1 on apple devices.

   So i found a workaround, where someone copied the vCard code as plain text into the generator from ID instead of using the built in vCard function. But the scanned code can't be recognized as vCard with several apps on Android. External QR generators produce working QR-codes with the same input. But on iPhone devices both codes work.

   I decoded two files at https://zxing.org/w/decode. One QR-code works, the other one (generated by ID) has the same input but no parsed result. So is there a way to fix this? Generating images and put them into ID is not so smart, i would like to use the built in function.

   This also doesn't work if i use v2.1 code like in this example.

3. Bug: Merge cells deletes table

   Bug in Indesign 18.3 x64 for Windows
   If you select cells in a table to merge them, it deletes the entire table instead.
   If you merge one row of cells, it behave normally. If you merge two rows of cells, the entire table is deleted.

4. Package-PDF and Export-PDF create different results

   Mac OS Monterey 12.6 / Adobe InDesign 18.3

   Function "Create Package" with a PDF and selected job.options (PDF Presets) creates PDF with wrong downsampling for images.

   Function "Export PDF" with same PDF Preset creates PDF with expected quality

   Why is there a difference?

5. INDD 2023 continuous crashes

   It's happening very often that, while I'm working on some files (it happened with many different ones, not just the same one), INDD suddenly crashes with no explanation. I'm pretty bored about this thing so I hope you can say me something in order to solve it. I've a very powerful computer so I'm sure it's not something related to "GPU fatigue". Wish you a good day

6. Drop Cap size, is based on next character

   Indesign 2023 Hebrew Version
   Macbook Pro M1

   When i create a drop cap, the size of the drop cap is changing based on the next character after the drop cap, it only happens when the leading is fixed, when the leading is auto, it just moves up and down based on the size of the next character.
   As you can see in the attached images, both paragraphs have the same style but when i change the size of the character after the drop cap the size or the leading of the drop cap changes

7. Table of Contents does not generate correctly when styles are in a table

   I ran into an issue with generating a Table of Contents when the Paragraph Styles it's told to look for are in the header rows of tables.

   In my stripped down example of this bug, I have a series of Tables with header rows that have the Paragraph Style I set the Table of Contents to look for. It seems depending on if the table overflows and must continue on the next page, it won't always show up in the Table of Contents and it will get skipped over.

   So in my example, Table 1 begins on Page 2 and continues onto page 3. Table 2 begins on Page 3 and continues onto Page 4, but is skipped in the Table of Contents. But Table 3 does appear in the Table of Contents, despite appearing to be in a similar situation as Table 2. With the only difference being it has an extra, unnecessary paragraph break between tables.

   The issue seems to be if a Table header contains a Paragraph Style that the Table of Contents is looking for and that Table breaks across pages, then an extra paragraph break is needed between the two Tables, otherwise it won't get picked up by the Table of Contents. However, if two tables start and end on the same page, then the extra paragraph break isn't necessary.

   This doesn't seem right.

    There are many internal as well as external factors that can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang.

    We would recommend you to upgrade to latest version as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

11. can't select objects

    ID version 18.3
    I have a massive page with a lot of objects, and now I can't select any of them. It is as if every object is locked; effectively the page now behaves like a pdf. I have tried to unlock all objects, over and over, and although "Unlock all on spread" is not greyed out, it does not respond. I have tried quitting and restarting, to no avail. Is it because my system just can't cope with the size? This is months of work down the pan...

12. InDesign Beta doesn't open my file

    When Indesign Beta is open and I want to open an additional file, Indesign doesn't open the new file, but seems to ignore tha prompt to open the additional file. If the program is closed, the files will open the program and pop up, but if the program is already open with or without a file, InDesign ignores the opening of the new file.

13. InDesign 18.3 Arabic variable font bug (MacOS)

    In an Arabic variable font it is not possible to apply the font variation to a single glyph without breaking the shaping. In Illustrator 27.5 the expected behaviour (variation of an individual glyph without breaking shaping) works.

14. InDesign 18.3 Bugs related to Outlining JPtext

    When outlining JPtext, the following problems occur

    (1) JPcharacters to which lines are added are greatly deformed.
    (1-1 Before outlining) (1-2 After outlining)

    (2) The processing added by the effect disappears from the outlined text.
    (2-1 Before outlining) (2-2 After outlining)

15. Export and Save As dialogs not showing up in MacOS Monterey

    2. Installed MacOS Monterey then InDesign Export or Save As dialogs stopped working.
    3. Export or Save As dialogs should be showing up
    4. Export or Save As dialogs not showing up with either keyboard shortcuts or when using the dropdown menu.

17. Shared Documents - Make Available Offline Always

    For documents I create and that appear under the "Your Files" section, I see that I can choose the "Make Available Offline Always" option. However, for documents that have been shared with me and appear under "Shared With You," I don't see this option.

    Will this option be available for shared documents in the near-future?

    It's a critical need for my team since our workflow sometimes includes starting a project that has to be handed off to someone else for completion. Having the ability to work offline as the starting lead OR as the finishing lead ensures we can safely keep the project moving without any hiccups.

18. selection story

    I have a couple of documents with the same type of tables on several pages. I mark 2 of 3 columns and want to change all letters and numbers in that one to x. So I use the search/find to do this and I mark "Selection" to just change the selected ones. Works fine. So I move to the next page with the Search/Find Windows still open. Then I mark the new 2 columns and want to change them as well. But now the "Selection" have changed to Story".
    Every time I mark a new set of columns, it changes the selection to "Story" which must be a bug or at least something you can adjust to work better.
    If I close the Search/Find window and go to a new page and select the columns, it works fine. Then it's still using "Selection" as default. But not when I keep the window open while changing paging, which is kinda annoying.
    I hope you can fix this, so I don't have to change the dropdown from Story to Section all the time.

19. Relinking a .webp image with an embedded ICC profile freezes InDesign 2023

    When you try to relink a new image to an existing one, and the new image is in .webp format with an embedded ICC profile, InDesign 2023 hangs. This is reproducible. Relinking works as expected if the .webp image does not have an embedded ICC profile.

20. Indesign not reading fonts correctly.

    I've been using our corporate fonts (Concon and Avenir), successfully for months. Using latest updates from CC Indesign and Photoshop and Illustrator. Never any font conflict issues.

    All of a sudden last month one document in Indesign stopped recognising the fonts. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling both the fonts and the program apps. I've tried installing the fonts in Adobe folders as well as on my PC.

    It's super frustrating as every time I open the document, I need to go back and correct all the fonts. It let's me resolve them by re-selecting a font for highlighted text, but doesn't save when closed.

    Please help!
