InDesign Publish Online Not Clickable on Windows in Chrome or Firefox
Working in: Adobe InDesign CC 2018
We recently published a guide online using Adobe Publish online. The clickable elements (buttons, interactive elements) are not clickable on touchscreen PCs in Chrome or Firefox, but the touchscreen works (not as clean, but works). This issue is not present when the PC users are in safari or internet explorer. All content was created and published on a Mac, and no macs have had an issue.
The content is private, but I can send the guide to anyone from Adobe on a person-person basis.

Error(#14, #18, #22, #23, #33, #39, #40) while trying to publish your documents using Publish Online in InDesign
Hi,
I work on InDesign 16.1 on macOS Big Sur 11.2.1.
Since April 2nd, error #18 PublishOnline has been occurring when I try to publish online any of my documents. I tried on several computers and it still failed at 98%. I also tried with a blank file and the problem was there too. My files work well when opened with another account.
Please find attached a screenshot of the error as well as a test file. I tried every solution on the help center and it didn't work. Could the issue come from my account? What solutions can you suggest? It's my working tool and I really need a quick solution. Many thanks in advance for your help.Hi,

Endnotes don't export to ePub
EPUB Export Endnotes with Hyperlinks
Version: InDesign CC 2019 – 14.0.3
Steps to Reproduce:
Use the endnote feature and in one of the endnotes (preferably after the first one), add a hyperlink.
Export the InDesign document to EPUB
Expected Result: All endnote references are hyperlinked and the numbers for each endnote are backlinked back to the reference.
Actual Result:
Endnote number is missing for all endnotes after the hyperlink that was added to the endnote and no linking occurs after the manual hyperlink. Indesign crashes.9 votes -
[ID-4261148] Character style "Include Html Class" check box removes the whole tag
The "Include Classes in HTML" checkbox doesn't work for Character Styles. Whereas paragraph styles and object style export without the class, character styles actually export without the tag at all—losing any formatting for that style. This is the case both in HTML and EPUB export.

Publish online doesn't work properly in chrome browser on new mobile devices (android)
Hi there,
We have published an interactive document with Indesign "publish online" feature. It works flawlessly in every browser, except in Chrome on some new mobiles phones with Android (not possible to go back or forward through pages or zoom). On the contrary, Interactivity and videos work properly.
We have the last indesign version (2021. Creative suite)
What's the problem?
Thanks in advance8 votes -
Indesign publish online page transitions not working
When I publish online from InDesign, any page transitions that have been applied to pages do not work. The pages simply appear. All animations work well, but the page push that I set as a transition does not work. Hopefully someone has a solution for this? If I use a plugin like in5 I can get the desired effect. Hopefully Adobe can add the same functionality that In5 has. Here is a sample from in5 that has the correct page transition: https://rudilouw.com/rotspoel/ You can drag from side to side and slide the pages.

Email Hyperlinks Not Responding in Published Online File
I have a document that contains some email hyperlinks throughout it. I set up the hyperlinks with the link to "email" option, and then the address as the destination. Creating a "mailto:xyz@xyz.com" link.
After publishing online, when the links are clicked on, it takes the page to a "could not connect" page and does not respond correctly. BUT all email links work completely fine when copied and pasted, right click and opened up in a new tab, when clicking directly from an exported PDF, when clicking from the downloaded PDF from the published online document, etc. It's only from the direct link/web version of the published online.
When you hover over it, the link in the bottom left shows displays "mailto:xyz40%xyz.com". Showing 40% instead of the @. I have read other forums and articles discussing this and saying that is a glitch in Adobe that can potentially cause problems at times. Which may be the root of my problem, may not be.
I have also read about the workaround of this and I have tried changing my hyperlink from a link to "email" to an "URL" link, with the "mailto:" as the URL. That does eliminate the 40% mumbo jumbo I see in the bottom left, but the same problem occurs. Link does not work when clicking directly online from published version. Works fine all other ways. It's odd and very frustrating.
I'm using a completed updated version of InDesign CC 2019.

publishing not working in chrome, FF
I am using indesign 13.1. I have several published documents that are suddenly not working in FF and Chrome, but are working in Safari.
For example, click on read now on this page:
https://merce-cunningham-bm.now.sh/history-detailor this page:
https://sfarts.org/monthly.cfm
In Chrome -- nothing happens. But those pages work in Safari.
Those two documents were created by different companies, so it is not an indesign intallation issue, as the support chat person insisted.
These pages have been working well for a long time.
I am the only one affected by this? Seems unlikely....

InDesign hangs/crashes while publishing InDesign documents via Publish Online
Unable to create a URL from the Publish Online button. Does not complete task. Freezes at 98%. I have tried restarting (app and computer both) using a different file extension, etc.
- Indesign CC 2018 13.1.0 x64 Windows
- Click "publish online" from INDD or IDML file
- URL from the "publish online" command.
- Hangs out at 98% and doesn't produce a URL, but doesn't totally freeze the program. I can still use the program while this happens.

Publish Online: if forbidden character in the document name, the name has to be filled in again
To me it’s okay that “special characters” are not allowed in the title of a "publish Online" document.
But if a user gets this message, his/her title is completely deleted and he/she has to fill out the title again. Although there’s maybe only one forbidden character in it.
Annoying. Any chance to change this?

Numbering restarts from 1 after an unnumbered style in exported html
- InDesign 18.1 (since 17.2.1)
- Create a numbered list paragraph, insert a line of a different paragraph style not containing numbers, continue the numbered list on the next line, the number continues from the previous list. Export this file to an html file.
- Expect the number to follow what we see in the InDesign file
- The number restarts from 1 after the inserted line of a different paragraph style

Sound not working when Publish Online
I'm working on a book to be an epub. The epub version works perfectly (sound/animation), then I had to make another version for the publish online. The problem was, when convert to publish online directly, sound was going on way before it's page, for example, on the first page we were hearing the next 4 pages almost at the same time. I solved this problem by inserting play/pause buttons for the sounds. It was working perfectly fine last week, and now this week, some pages don't play sound at all. But in the epub preview in InDesign, everything is working perfectly fine.

"Rolloff" in Animationpanel not working in CC2017 / CC2018 / MAC / WINDOWS
I am working on a diplom project right now, and faced a really annoying bug in InDesign. I want to create a rollover bar, wich slides up when I rollover / hover with my mouse over a certain object. I know without any kind of problems how I am able to create something like this, but my problem is, that the object simply wont return to its destination where it came from, when I rolloff it again, like going away with my mouse. It stays on its place once the animation has been completed, and when I hover over it again, the animations simply restarts. Hard to explain, easy to understand once you see it yourself.
https://indd.adobe.com/view/351ae097-e63e-4518-93a7-f59e998fb9aa
Try it yourself, hover over the 3 lines on the bottom, a bar should come up. Go away with mouse, it redoes the animation again, while it normaly should go down where it came from, when "Rolloff" in the Animationpanel is activated.
Side-note: Exporting it with "Rolloff" deactivated does the exact same thing, so it seems like, that the tool "Rolloff" has no real function.

In this YouTube tutorial, you can clearly see, someone achieving what I want in Adobe CS5, 7 years ago! A update for this section would also be great sometime, but it just seems like nothing has changed over the past 7 years.
It doesnt matter if I try to succeed in this in CC17 / CC18 / Mac or Windows, both do not work.
This is a tool that is so great to have, but it simply stops me from working correctly, because I am not able to use it. Please fix this as fast as possible. I am not doing all this for fun, I got a diplom project to complete, and just want to make it a little bit nicer by using things like the Animationpanel, instead of simple buttons only.

Reflowable EPUB3: "Page Navigation" export option adds a space inside hyphenated words at page breaks
Version of InDesign: 19.4
-
steps to reproduce
- create a new InDesign file
- add a text frame to the blank page
- add enough text so some words are hyphenated at the page breaks for the next pages
- export to epub3
- enable "Page Navigation" on EPUB export
Expected result
Page navigation markers are added without interrupting the hyphenated words at the page breaks.-
Actual result
When using the "Page Navigation" export option for reflowable EPUB exports, InDesign adds a <span> and </span> tag pair with a blank space character in the HTML export instead of simply dropping the soft hyphen that was present in the print layout.
Result in the EPUBs XHTML:
<p class="bodytext">Idel illandia suntusdae quoditint debitatissit quam quamus magnimus es quiaeper elor eper<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>nat quo con re nimus?</p>
Another example using English text (from the "Georgia" file in the EPUB3 samples project):
In my file "georgia", the words "consists" and "headward" are both hyphenated by InDesign as "con-sists" and "head-ward" at the page breaks, but exported to EPUB as
con<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>sists
and
head<span id="page3" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="3" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>ward</span>
respectively, thus displaying as "con sists" and "head ward".
I am confident that this is not an issue of readers / apps display the EPUB erroneously, as I tested my example files on a PC with Kindle Previewer 3.81, Adobe Digital Editions 4.5, Thorium 2.2.0, as well as on a Kindle Paperwhite via Send to Kindle, a tolino (popular brand of readers in Germany, both with Adobe RMSDK rendering engine and new Readium-based rendering engine), an iPad with Apple Books and a Pocketbook InkPad Color.
The W3C recommendation for page break markers is not a pair of opening <span> and closing </span> tags, but a self-closing <span/> tag, e.g.
<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"/>
which would look like this for the above examples:
<p class="bodytext">Idel illandia suntusdae quoditint debitatissit quam quamus magnimus es quiaeper elor eper<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"/>nat quo con re nimus?</p>
con<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"/>sists
head<span id="page3" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="3" epub:type="pagebreak"/>ward</span>
Personally, I'd think using a pair of <span> / </span> tags WITHOUT an additional space should work out, too, if you absolutely must use a tag pair for whatever reason.
However, I would strongly urge you to change the implementation to conform to the W3C recommendation.
Either way, the current behaviour creates errors on EPUB export which are not present in the indd source file - so please change this as soon as possible.
