Issues with epub quality on the new 2023 update
I'm a book publisher. I downloaded the latest InDesign update last week. I created the files and saved them like in the previous software. However, the vendors are all rejecting the epub files stating they're not validating in their epub software. I had to go redownload the prior version of InDesign, and it works like a charm. The glitch seems to be in the new version of the InDesign software.

Numbering restarts from 1 after an unnumbered style in exported html
- InDesign 18.1 (since 17.2.1)
- Create a numbered list paragraph, insert a line of a different paragraph style not containing numbers, continue the numbered list on the next line, the number continues from the previous list. Export this file to an html file.
- Expect the number to follow what we see in the InDesign file
- The number restarts from 1 after the inserted line of a different paragraph style

InDesign 2023 Unable to use Publish Online feature
osx Montery 12.3 (M1 Max)
InDesign 2023 (v 18.0)Updated to 2023 this morning and am now getting the following error message when I try to use publish online "Error #0: This service is not available for your account. Contact your Administrator or Customer Support for further assistance."
Have never received this prior to the update and I seem unable to find any information regarding it (most likely because the update is so fresh). I have already restarted fully, quit and reopened indesign.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

World-Ready Composer Breaks Text Variables on Export to Fixed Layout ePub Format
If one inserts a current page number marker or a text variable on a master page and the paragraph style of that text specifies Adobe World-Ready Composer in Justification, when exported to fixed layout ePub, the page number or text variable will not print. This bug is present in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 and possibly earlier versions (haven't checked).

Entire note is backlinked in ePub export
In InDesign 18.2.1 when I create endnotes via Type/Insert Endnote and paste in the text I want in the note, the entire note becomes the backlink. Can't have external URLs in the note as the backlink overrides them.

Endnotes in ePub use identical id's where an id should be Unique
When InDesign 18.0 and earlier versions make a reflowable ePub, the endnotes cause the file to be rejected when checked by https://www.ebookit.com/tools/bp/Bo/eBookIt/epub-validator. The reason: each endnote reference is embedded in a span with an id twice, and the name or identifier of that id is the same. In HTML (which is the construct of an ePub) each id should be unique. You cannot have a HTML file with two elements with the same id-name. The next line can be found at the endnote reference, but a similar thing coccurs on the backlink, back from the endnote text to the…

thumbnail publish online
Publish online thumbnails extend off the right hand side of the browser window and cover the button for forward navigation through the thumbails. This means that the only way to navigate to the desired page is by clicking through page by page, or by resizing the browser window and clicking quickly before the thumbnails have time to respond and cover the button.
I don't know if this is a bug since it's my first time using publish online but if it isn't, there certainly needs to be a better way to navigate through a long document, like a book. For…

Publish Online Cover Thumbnail does NOT work when posting to social
Publish Online Cover Thumbnail does NOT work. No cover thumbnail appears when posted to social or sent via text message. I have tried using the first page of the publish online document as well as an independent image. Just a blank unappealing link appears for the post/text.
This is disappointing and needs to be fixed.

EPUB Export with JPG images causes a validation error for the cover image due to an **already identified** InDesign bug
When you Export an EPUB with JPG images, it always causes a file type validation error for the cover image.
I have already identified the bug in InDesign. Instead of turning the cover art into an actual .jpg format, InDesign instead just rasterizes the first page of the book as a .png and changes the extension name of a .png file to .jpg without actually being the correct file format.
Please fix this.

EPUB – Endnote backlink issues for INDB files
When exporting EPUB 3.0 (and 2.01) from an InDesign(2022, version 17.4) book file, endnotes only link in the first chapter where they are found. Subsequent chapters reveal <a> tags with empty href attributes.
Backlinks are required by virtually all ebook publishers. For academic books, endnotes are essential and the request for EPUB formats is only increasing. So far Adobe Car's response: "Currently, we do not have a workaround for this issue other than creating a single document instead of book or manually modifying backlink in the exported EPUB file." This isn't acceptable or even always possible.

Embed Image Blocks not supported in PublishingOnline
Adobe Indesign CC 2023 (18.1)
I recently wanted to create a more immersive viewing experience of my 3D designs by inserting holographic image blocks as an embed in a PublishOnline document (if you haven't seen this excellent technology you should check out "LookingGlass" https://blocks.glass/).
While testing this out I've run into a problem with the publishing of the document. Using the "Object/Insert HTML" and pasting the Image Block's embed code:
<div class="lkg-blocks-player" style="padding:133.333% 0 0 0;position:relative;"><iframe src="https://blocks.glass/embed/3450" frameborder="0" style="position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media; xr-spatial-tracking; accelerometer; gyroscope; magnetometer" allowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true" execution-while-out-of-viewport="true" execution-while-not-rendered="true"></iframe></div>
everything works great while in Indesign (screenshot of the…

Publish Online documents have become very slow to load
Since the dashboard update, analytics 'since published' will NOT load.
We're also noticing publish online documents are very slow to load initially.
I'm presuming this is all server side issues at Adobe and would like to know if its being fixed.
Are you forcing browsers to cache online publications before loading?
These are both major issues that might force us to see alternative solutions if not fixed soon.

Grey outlines around pictures in Publish Online
About 1/7 of every picture has grey lines partially surrounding it, but only when I publish online. Not when I export as PDF. There's plenty of image available beyond the edges of the image box, so I don't know why it does this.

Publish Online thicker navigation arrows - option to turn OFF
The hard coded previous/next page arrows are noticeably thicker and can spoil some designs and therefore the user experience. Can we have an option to turn them OFF.
Ajar In5 already has this. Seems like a simple enough option?
