  1. Guides aligned with cursor and not object

Just updated to InDesign 2025 (v 20.0) and had to switch back to the previous version due to the smart guides functioning strangely. The guides should show up in the center or edge of the object so that I can align it properly on the page and in relation to other objects. Instead, it's producing the guidelines from wherever my cursor is when I click and drag the object. This has made it much more difficult to do simple things like center objects, since it's just centering my cursor instead. I've never had any desire to align things based on…

  2. scrolling text frame

When publishing my file online, a gap appears in the text within the scrolling text frame. (see attachment) The gap seems to be aligned to the place where the text hits the bottom of the container frame. There are no extra characters causing this gap in the text. I had the same issue with a document a year ago, but it looks like this bug is still there.

    Version: Indesign 2025

    Steps to reproduce issues:
•Paste longer text box into container box.
    •Align content to top left.
•Use overlays panel, choose "Scrollable frame," Scroll direction: vertical, Initial content position: Upper…

  3. Paragraph shading randomly disappears in some places when working in Indesign

Expected result: the shading is always displayed as it is applied in the settings.

Actual result: after making an adjustment, the shading disappears in some places and the shading edges that are displayed are not the actual edges, which makes it impossible to make accurate changes in the shading. When a pdf is made, the shading looks how it should look, so no issues there. It is merely when working in Indesign that the display of the shading is faulty. At first, when opening the Indesign file, the shading is displayed correctly, but when a change is made in the…

  5. InDesign crashes when trying to cut, and/or copy, a table from the paragraph level

Different versions of InDesign have this problem including 2023, 2024, and 2025 - on Mac Monteray.

If I attempt to highlight tables from the paragraph level and copy or cut, either with menus or key commands, InDesign will either immediately crash, or beach ball a bit and then crash.

Upon reopening InDesign, the menus will not appear. I have to use the keyboard commands to quit InDesign again. Upon reopening, it will work properly again... that is unless I attempt to copy or cut another table.

Please fix! I'm constantly working with complicated tables and the only way to get…

  6. Using Arrow Keys in Transform Panel/Control Panel no longer works properly - ID 20.0.

Using Arrow Keys in Transform Panel/Control Panel no longer works properly - ID 20.0.

Since upgrading to ID 2025 (20.0) using the arrow keys in Transform Panel or Control Panel no longer works properly. Previously I would scale something larger/smaller using the arrow (or Shift+Arrow): 110%, 120%, 130% ... .
Now with Shift+ArrowUp it will first scale 110%, then the cursor is no longer in the Scale Percentage Field. Second Shift+Arrow click and instead the Object will Flip Vertical. Third Shift+Arrow and it will start moving up the page.

Now to scale up another 10% I have to replace the…

  7. Moves with arrow keys do not apply to objects if cursor is hovering over a link

    1. Place an image or a PDF in an InDesign file
    2. Create a text frame/shape/any object
    3. Select the object you just created with direct select tool (keep it selected)
    4. Move your mouse to hover over the link so that the center circle link highlight shows. Do not select the linked image, just hover over it.
    5. Press and hold an arrow key to try and move object.

In CC2024 19.3: If I hover over a link with my mouse, the selected object moves as expected with the arrow keys.

    In CC2025 20.2: If I hover over a link with my mouse,…

  8. Before tag and after untag frame with different behavior

If you tag a frame object (XML), this object does not behave the same after untagging as before tagging. In other words: tagging is not fully reversible. You can see a difference in the layer panel and in the exported PDF tag structure (Tagged PDF)

How can this behavior be reproduced?

    1. Create a new InDesign document.
    2. Draw a placeholder (empty) graphic frame
    3. Assign any XML tag to the frame
    4. Remove the XML tag
    5. Export a tagged PDF

What is the difference between the object before tagging and after untagging?

The layer panel shows a different status.

    The frame before tagging…

  10. Error message is seen while opening InDesign after Photoshop 26.5 update

    Problem Description

After the PhotoShop 26.5 update this morning, when opening InDesign, I got an error popup regarding a missing startup script in PhotoShop. The same thing does not happen in other CC apps.

    Workaround 1:

    1. Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences).
    2. Reinstall Photoshop 26.5. This will install the correct “photoshop_v2025.jsx”.

    Workaround 2:

    1. Open jsx, which is available at "/Library/application support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop/" mentioned in the alert in the Text Editor
    2. Add } in the last line

  11. blank screen when switching displays

When I have a file open in InDesign 2025 on my MacBook Pro (14-inch, Nov 2023, 15.3.1) and switch between using the built-in display and an external monitor, the document view becomes completely black/blank, though all toolbars remain visible and functional.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a file in InDesign on a MacBook Pro.
    2. Close the MacBook lid, connect to an external monitor, and wake the computer.
    3. The InDesign window stays open, toolbars are visible, but the artwork area is completely blank.
    4. Selecting all (Cmd + A) reveals bounding boxes, but no image or text is visible.

  12. Book Preflight panel uses [Basic] preflight profile instead of the indicated working profile

    Hello,

i noticed some strange behaviour of the Book Preflight panel. While it shows the current working preflight profile as selected, it will instead use InDesigns [Basic] preflight profile. To actually use your desired preflight profile, you have to open the list of profiles and select it (again). Even though it already shows as selected.

To reproduce this error, i duplicated the [Basic] preflight profile, named it "Test Check" and additionally disallowed RGB color under COLOR > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed > RGB. I then selected it as working profile in the preflight settings.

    I then set up…

  13. [ID-4256174]InDesign crashes while searching any font/word, etc., which is in overset text.

We have simple scripts that operate on script labels to Find and Replace Text, adjust Text Size, things like that. We've been using them for three years with no problems prior to v2025. They crash and bring up the option to send an error report. We're rolling back to 2024 now, we can't operate efficiently without these scripts.

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.0.1.032). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

  14. Dropshadow > Size is limited to 0-144 points within scripting but you can enter higher numbers manually 0-1000 points

My understanding is indesign dropshadow effect needs to be updated for the option: size within the dropshadow panel to be able to accept 0 - 1000 points for scripts. You can input higher numbers within the size by doing it manually but not with scripts for whatever reason. It will only accepts 0-144 point or 2 inches within the code.

    1. Indesign CC 2025
    2. Run the attached script a 100 in height image and you'll get the error.
    3. On the dropshadow applied to have the distance 5.0 in and size 5.0
    4. Distance: 5.0 in and Size: 0.0694 in
    5. Script attached.
