1. [ID-3806494] Text Wrap Woes: v20.2 Update Fails to Resolve Text Wrapped Object Error Spacing Issue in Adobe InDesign

   This is a follow-up on the original bug report [ID-4257733], which addresses the issue of the "Text Wrapped Object" spacing error. The problem remains unresolved in Adobe InDesign version 2025 v20.2. Please find attached a PNG image illustrating the persisting issue

   Steps to Reproduce the Issue:

   1. Insert an image or free-flowing table into the text.
   2. Anchor the image or table in-line or custom to maintain spatial proximity with other images on the same page and ensure it remains adjacent to specific text .

   Expected Result: The ability to freely move or reposition the table/image anywhere on the page within the text, without overlaying or obscuring the text. This is particularly important for maintaining the relevancy and visual flow of the content.

   Actual Result: The "text wrap" spacing option fails to work for the text above the table/image, and the spacing is inconsistent—it does not work for the text above the table/image but functions correctly for the text below.

   This is a follow-up on the original bug report [ID-4257733], which addresses the issue of the "Text Wrapped Object" spacing error. The problem remains unresolved in Adobe InDesign version 2025 v20.2. Please find attached a PNG image illustrating the persisting issue

2. Hidden Object creates Link in PDF

   InDesign 20.0

   DO:
   - paste a pdf with hyperlink in an indesign document (I used an existing document as template, but ultimately only used the cut marks of that pdf)
   - crop the pdf so that the link is invisible/only a part of the pdf is shown
   - create an other link on the same spot where the template pdf has its link (but since it is cropped we don't see this link anymore)
   - export pdf

   HAPPEN
   - PDF gets false (hidden) link if that layer/element is visible during PDF export
   - PDF doesn't get false link if you hide the layer during export

   SHOULD
   - cropped parts of an element should not ghost-appear in a PDF export.

   TEST files hold client logo, I can supply those on request only.

   InDesign 20.0

   DO:

3. IDML file exported from InDesign CC 2025 moves objects randomly

   A file exported from InDesign CC 2025 and imported to CC 2024 is corrupted. Some objects (page numbers on parent pages) are randomly relocated. This is pathetic.

   Is this happening with all files or some specific files?

   Are only page numbers getting relocated or other elements as well?

   Is this happening with only parent page objects or with objects on normal pages as well?

   An screenshot of indd and idml would also help.

4. Window Management Not Apple/MacOS Standard

   The window management across all adobe apps but most of all inDesign is buggy and not the correct apple standard. You can see its not inline with other apps and the native resizing tools by looking at the edges of the application and the rounded corners.

   Window management tools do not work with inDesign as it resizes it self. Grabbing edges is extremely difficult and usability is bad. Traffic lights tend to move down to about 3/4 into the document or disappear all together.

5. Checkbox - sample button changes design

   Interactive form (made in Indesign, not Acrobat, as I don't wanted to mix!) - I wanted an option box (checkbox) to have a cross instead of a circle. The only option was to take a "sample button" from the menu. I choose the option box with a cross (R10) and integrated it in the form. After exporting to Acrobat, firstly there was a cross when I clicked on the box. But when I was going onto another step (next box, print file, etc.) the cross was changed in a circle again. There was no possibility to keep the cross in the place!!!!

6. "send form" doesn't work

   I made an interactive form with several "necessary" fields and a "send form" button. When I tried to "send" the form without filling in the necessary fields, acrobat reminds me that not all required fields are filled in. Positive, that's how it should work. BUT- when all fields are filled in and one tries the "send form" button, nothing happens. File is not send...... Please advise, because the "necessary fields / required information" is not asked after if the file can't be send by this button....

8. Allow InDesign to retain local formatting when updating linked text files.

   When using linked text files in InDesign, any local formatting changes made directly in InDesign (such as font size, color, bold/italic, etc.) are lost when the external text file is updated. This is a significant limitation for designers who need to maintain complex formatting in layouts. Please add an option to retain local formatting when linked text files are updated.

   Suggestion:
   “Preserve Local Formatting” in the Links panel or File Handling preferences.

10. Character Style / redefine not working as expected

    When changing the font/color/style of a word which has a Character Style applied, the user expects a + to appear and a 'Redefine Style' context menu entry when right clicking the Character Style, just like when changing the appearance of text with a Paragraph Style applied.

    This does not always happen with Character Styles. If found that it does not work, when a Character Style is initially defined by first styling a selected text, and then added as a Character Style, with the + button in the Character Styles palet. In that case, the workflow mentioned does not work.

    Please repair this / make both coherent. Currently, Character Styles are kind of broken.

11. InDesign 2025 can't read metadata from multiple images

    macOS 15.2, InDesign 20.0.1

    Problem: Metadata inside an image not being recognized by InDesign 2025.

    Details:

    Multiple images from different sources containing metadata that InDesign doesn't recognize
    Presence of metadata in XMP Description field verified in Bridge and via InDesign's Links panel XMP File Info command.
    Generating a Live Caption or Static Caption when using the Description field returns "<No data from link>".
    Setting Object Export Options > Alt Text Source to From XMP: Description results in "metadata property is not present on some selected content".
    When a PDF is generated using the images in question, the metadata is not passed through to the PDF, resulting in missing alt text accessibility errors.
    Manually writing (or copying and pasting) the metadata to the Alt Text Source as Custom works, but as does manually creating a caption, but automation is the point.

12. anchored width and height gets loose

    The anchor between the element width and height in the top menu switches to un-anchored directly after unselecting an element or at selecting another element.

13. Continuous numbering

    There should be a function that allows you to decide if you want continuous caption numbering throughout the document (also if a the frame of a page has no frame linked. It is so annoying to have all the time the numbers wrong.

14. "recent" files date modified

    It's January 2 and all my recent files (updated within the last couple weeks or month, meaning December) are showing up as being from "1 year ago" which is not quite true.

15. Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE

    Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE

    Swedish language

    I noticed that Command-S activates the Don't Save button in the dialog shown in the image.

    1. Command-W to close the document
    2. The dialog shows Cancel, Don't Save and Save
    3. Command-S will activate the Don't Save button!

    I tried it on two Macs with the same setup.

    This is a serious bug and it's much worse than a crash.

    After a crash the changes will be kept by the crash restore feature. If someone use the Command-S shortcut in the scenario described here they will erase all changes with no way to get them back.

    Command-S will do a Save in the same dialog in Apples apps.

    Other users said this bug is not showing up with English language.

    A kerning issue occurs in Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 when using ligature-supported fonts like Microsoft Uighur Font. Manual kerning adjustments fail to apply when ligatures are enabled. This problem does not occur in InDesign 2023, where disabling ligatures allows kerning to function as expected.

    1. Font Setup: Use Microsoft Uighur Font in InDesign 2024/2025. (I use my personal font)
    2. Text Input: Type a word containing the ligature اللہ (e.g., any two Arabic text).
    3. Enable Ligatures: Ensure ligatures are turned on (Character panel > Ligatures: ON).
    4. Apply Manual Kerning: Attempt to adjust kerning between characters (e.g., using Alt + Arrow Keys).
    - Observed Result: Kerning adjustments do not take effect.
    5. Disable Ligatures: Turn ligatures off (Character panel > Ligatures: OFF).
    - Observed Result: Kerning now works as expected.

    Expected Behavior:
    Manual kerning should apply regardless of ligature settings, as seen in InDesign 2023.

    We tried executing the script shared by you at our end and found that the extension you are using for the script should be ".scpt"(applescript) and not".jsx"(javascript). Please try changing the extension of your script to ".scpt".

19. indesign reverting unit selection

    Each time I set up a new document in InDesign (and only in indesign this happens), it defaults to Pica measurement (my preference is set to mm) and when I change it and begin to fill out the measurements, it reverts back to pica 2-3 times before it'll stay on mm.

    I've tried:
    -re installing
    -changing/checking preferences
    -resettting preferences

    Unsure if a bug or something I've missed.

20. overlapping text on paragraph break in INDD

    When formatting text using a parent page element that's been activated (by using Shift + CMD + Click) on a page, and forcing a paragraph break so that the text goes from two lines to three, the first of the now three lines "hides" behind the second line. The current fix to this issue is to make an edit to the first line so it "pays attention" to the change and goes where it's supposed to.

    Font used: Los Feliz OT, Bold, 27
    Justification: Bottom
