1. iMac M3 gets very hot and uses excessive CPU while working with InDesign 2024, fan is constantly running

   I am working on InDesign 2024 version with Apple iMac M3 processor, and as long as the InDesign window is open, even if I do not do anything, the iMac gets very hot and the fan is constantly running. This is not a normal situation at all.
   I'm reporting this to the Adobe team for information. I noticed that InDesign did not have this problem when I disconnected it from the internet. However, when the connection is lost, InDesign crashes after a while. You can see the CPU values it uses in the attached image.

2. Problem with endnote formatting when converting to EPUB

   I was converting a print book file to an EPUB using the 19.4 updated version of Indesign. The print file had footnotes on every page.. In the conversion options box, I selected the option to convert footnotes to endnotes, but the formatting of the numbers in the EPUB were not consistent. Each footnote number that was on a new page in the original Indesign files was bigger than the other numbers (see screenshots). To attempt to fix the problem, I converted the footnotes to endnotes in the actual Indesign file before exporting to EPUB. This fixed the numbering issue but added an ugly, thick border around the endnotes (see screenshots). Reverting my Indesign program back to version 19.3, the conversion of footnotes to endnotes in the EPUB transfer worked correctly, and all numbering was uniform.

3. User Generated Templates that can be Accessed from the Home Screen

   It would be very helpful to be able to access user generated templates from the home screen, similar to presets. This will allow teams to quickly access documents and keep layouts consistent, instead of taking time to search for templates on the network.

4. Assign new shortcut for hiding panels while inside a text box don't work (Mac 12.7.4 ID2023)

   Product area : Views, Navigation > Show/Hide all panels except toolbox --- Default: Shift+Tab

   Of course this shortcut will not work when my cursor is inside a text box so I added a shortcut when the "Text" context is selected so it will work in this way too: Text: Ctrl+Tab

   While doing so I made sure [unassigned] is written.

   I now have 2 shortcuts for this actions but the only one that works is the default one and I don't understand why.

   I tried to remove the first option and keep only the one I assigned but it still won't work.

5. Crashes when changing font, copying text and saving as another file type

   I have been tryin to open one of my 'old' Indesign files (2017). At the time I used Cross-References plugin DTP tools. I no longer use it. It keeps populating a notification that the plugin is missing, but it still opens the INDD document. I have tried saving the document—
   1) as an IDML document and that does not work.
   2) I have also tried saving as a new document but the issue remains the same.
   3) I have tried copying the text from it to a new INDD document, it crashes every time and I have sent crash reports.
   4) I change the font to different font or basic—it crashes every time.
   5) I have tried exporting it as an IDML file to sanitize it and it crashes

   The only thing I have not tried is purchasing "Wordsflow" plugin from Em Software and exporting to Word. Also, I have not tried re-installing the DTP Tools plugin again, as of yet. Ideally, I would like to reconcile the document without paying for plugins I don't need to use.

   Adobe, I would be grateful if a 'fix' could applied so I can retrieve it.

6. inDesign screen flashing on M2 Mac mini

   InDesign screen flashing on M2 Mac mini.

   The screen flashed when selecting text, moving objects, using marque select.
   Turning off rulers helps a lot. I've read that turning on/off GPU performance will solve this issue. The option is grayed out within inDesign but is available on Illustrator and Photoshop.

7. [ID-4255452] Text variables with modification date not working when saved to Cloud.

   I created a text variable to update the date when the document is modified. When I opened my document in the beta version of InDesign, the text frame for my text variable was empty. I tried to re-enter the variable, and I tried making a new variable. When I selected a variable that included the current date, it would not appear. I created a Modification Date text variable and a custom text variable based on the Modification date. They appeared correctly. I saved the InDesign doc to the cloud. Once I applied a paragraph style, the text disappeared in both boxes.

8. 'Text style' (Character/Paragraph) Drop Down Visual Bug

   Adobe InDesign 19.4, Apple M3 Max, Sonoma 14.4 and 14.5 (at least).

   'Text Style' drop downs for character and paragraph show persistent white box, without any of the styles showing. White box blocks UI actions below.

   Occurs randomly, resolves randomly. Restart not guaranteed to fix the issue.

   Expected result: The drop down displays the relevant text styles...
   Actual result: Empty white box...

9. HarfBuzz introduced in v2024 is not honouring the spacings properly

   Harfbaaz text engine is not taking care of spacings properly specially when using Arabic or Urdu script. Files attached before and after. Without harfbaaz, settings look more natural. On tweaking the settings further does not make much difference.

10. InDesign 2024 regression: Text variable rendering breaks Google barcode font

    A sequence of numbers rendered in Google's "Libre Barcode EAN13 Text" font will not work if the text is inserted via a text variable. Entering the text verbatim with the same paragraph style produces the expected result.

    This is a regression in InDesign 2024. The attached IDML file works fine in InDesign 2023 v18.5 but not in InDesign 2024 v19.3.0.58.

    The font can be found at https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Libre+Barcode+EAN13+Text.

11. Main view not redrawn when mouse zooming until mouse is moved

    After I updated to MacOs 14.4, I got this weird bug when zooming pages using Opt+mouse scroll wheel. I can see the vertical and horizontal scroll bar sizes changes as I am zooming, but the main view is not updated. The moment I move my mouse, the main view also get updated. This is very frustrating, because I cannot see the size while I am zooming. This worked fine in MacOs 14.2.

    To reproduce the bug:

    Zooming seems to work initially when opening a document, and the error seems sometimes to be triggered if I Space+drag when I have the mouse pointer on (positioned on) one of the pages. If I have the cursor outside any page (in the grey area) while initiating a Space+drag the issue sometimes magically goes away until I Space+drag with cursor positioned on one of the pages again. I can turn the bug on/off by doing this. Sometimes is also seems to matter if I zoom with the cursor inside or outside the pages.

    Running InDesign 19.2 on MacOs Sonoma 14.4 on a Mac Studio M2. GPU is not enabled.

12. Text justification algorithm is *really* sloppy.

    When the justification is set to "justified," when I add or delete text, text moves down from previous lines, making those earlier lines look really stretched out with huge spaces. This happens constantly. It looks really bad, and there's no logical reason for it.

    This happens whether "Hyphenate" is on or off.

    Each line of text should always hold as many words as it can hold (without shrinking anything to fit). What happens on any later line should never cause any change in previous lines.

    I'm using InDesign v. 19.3 x64 in Windows.

14. Crash on object state rename

    This happens to me regularly. With an object selected, I use the button for Convert selection to multi-state object from the Object States panel. If I then try to rename the states, InDesign immediately quits. Reopening InDesign takes me back to just before I created the MSO.

    I've learned to save immediately after creating MSOs and then rename states. That's my workaround. I thought it would be good to mention though, as it seems related to the old inability to rename states bug that was fixed.

    I'm using ID 19.4 on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1

    Problem Selecting Hebrew vowels and diacritics especially when there are Hebrew and English mixed in the paragraph, it seems like there is no visual distinction to determine what is being selected. This is so frustrating, and makes it impossible to use in the long run.

17. Design flaw and bug: empty table cells can have a font assigned

    Found in: ID 2022
    If you have a table and put text into a cell, the text has at least one font assigned. When removing the text again, the cell becomes empty but seems to keep the font assignment, which is illogical. No text, no font. Later, if you open the document on another PC which doesn't have that font would cause a missing font issue for no reason.

    Even worse: going into the "Find/replace font" dialog you can find the empty cell with the missing font, but you cannot fix it, because Change or Change all have no effect. The only way to change the font, because you cannot simply unassign, is to select the entire cell and set a font that is available . When you have, like, 100 empty cells it can be a very annoying job to do and might not be circumvented by selecting the entire table and setting the font when non-empty cells have several fonts assigned.

19. InDesign flashes white every time I click on a page

    When using InDesign, it flashes white every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work. I cannot highlight anything or draw a marque without getting the white flashing. Even when I'm just moving around a page, it flashes. This is migraine-inducing.

    I have InDesign 18.5.1 and there are no updated available, I just checked. This has really slowed down my workflow. I know you closed the previous listing for this, but it's not fixed.
