Text cursor disappears - Mojave and InDesign CC 13.1
After upgrading to Mac OSX Mojave (10.14), using InDesign CC 13.1 ME, the text cursor disappears. All other cursors appear as expected. This happens both with the standard Text tool, and the ME Text tool.

Opening file in Adobe InDesign CC 2018 prevents same file from opening in InCopy CC 2018
InCopy CC 2018 users get kicked out of file if file is opened in InDesign CC 2018. InCopy CC 2018 cannot open files create in InDesign CC 2018. See attachment.

Opening a file with missing fonts freezes InDesign
Opening a file that has missing fonts freezes InDesign for a minute or so. Every document with missing fonts does this. If I manually activate the font and then try opening the same document again, there is no freeze.
InDesign 17.2.1, macOS Monterey (latest)
My coworker is on Catalina and has the same freeze too.8 votesFix for this issue is now available in the latest release of InDesign 2022 - that is, InDesign 17.4 version.
Please update to this version to get the fix.

Macbook Pro Notch Cuts Into Fullscreen View
- InDesign version 17.0.1 on MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021)
- Previewing a document in Full Screen (Shift + W) and returning to normal view (Shift + W or ESC).
- Document should be displayed below the notch, like other full screen applications do. When returning to normal view, the InDesign window should be the same size as before full screen view.
- The notch of the new MacBook Pro (2021) cuts into the preview. When returning to non-full screen view, the InDesign window is pushed down / resized so that the status bar is not visible.

Disable cross-references
InDesign is far too slow when you have too many cross-references in a single document - and by too many I mean not many at all (I have 30 in one of mine, and the document grinds to a halt all the time). Whilst opening every single document that is references helps a bit, this is far from a satisfactory solution. At a minimum it should be possible to disable cross-references whenever you want, to avoid the performance hit. It would also be a good idea to fix the cross-references issue completely, so that cross-references are not constantly being updated…

inDesign 16.1 - New version(s) do not keep color settings for documents
Just one more thing to check EVERY time I look at the document.

A. Even after changing the Color Settings in an open document when I switch apps and come back the Colors Settings have reverted ---- Emulate Adobe inDesign 2.0 CMS Off ---- this is really, really annoying.B. Opening a document that had been saved in the current version - the Color Settings did not save with the document -
I just made my regular preference without a document open - quit the program reopened -- the Color…

Very Slow Performance - when opening two documents at the same time
Is there any solution to this bug:
InDesign has very slow performance - when opening two documents at the same time.Refer to the previous report "Very Slow Performance" that I submitted on June 19th 2020.
I still use Creative Cloud applications and my InDesign is v15.1.1 x64
Thanks!

Document slowdown when fonts not activated
When fonts aren't activated in an InDesign document, InDesign CC2019 slows down and is practically unusable unless you activate most or all of the fonts used in the document. This wasn't the case in previous versions of InDesign, when you could deactivate fonts intentionally in order to troubleshoot files. In long form documents that may use multiple fonts, this was an especially useful tool.
As InDesign documents are frequently separated from their fonts, especially when using font managers instead of Document fonts, this slowdown becomes a burden when checking files in larger workflows and inhibits font troubleshooting. Could the behavior…

STILL stuck in hand tool InDesign
Stuck in hand tool... YES I read the existing thread... NO none of those fixes work. Adobe, PLEASE supply a REAL, PERMANENT fix.
Running 2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, Mojave 10.14 2.8 GHz
I have NO OTHER programs running. RESTARTING neither the app nor the computer helped. I can't perform ANY tasks in InDesign.

InDesign performance is ****
The actual performance of InDesign is, speaking gently, ****. I really don't know how you can release such a buggy version. I'm doing nothing on my machine except writing this text and InDesign is using more than 500 % of my CPU and the fan of my graphic card is going nuts!
Calling the actual version "production ready" is a joke. I am really disappointed about Adobe. The only program actually which is really good and performing is XD.

InDesign 14 opening network files as read-only
We have been using InDesign for a while with files being stored on a network SMB share. on 4/4/19, after a few folks updated to 14.02, the Indesign and Incopy files are primarily only able to be opened as read-only.
Network server permissions have been verified and no other changes have occurred in our environment.
8 votesPlease help us with answers to the below queries:
1. OS version of the machine where issue is reproducible.
2.Are the files opened simultaneously by more than one user?
3. Does the same file which is opened as Read Only in Id 14.0.2, when opened in Id 14.0.1 opens fine?
4. Does remounting the SMB drive fixes the issue? -
Alt key modifier keeps toolbar active after use when zooming in using scroll wheel
Not sure when this started happening, I only know that it's started irritating the heck out of me quite recently. I'm on Win 10 using InDesign 14.0.2
Whenever I alt+scroll using the mouse wheel to zoom in/out, InDesign switches focus to the toolbar so that the next keyboard press will enact the menu.
It becomes an issue when for example zooming into an active text box, if you need to type F, E, L, T, O, A, V, W, or H, after using alt+scroll you end up bringing up the View menu as soon as you hit the V key.
…
8 votesHi,
As per our understanding the issue is as follows:
Launch InDesign.
1. Press alt+scroll using the mouse wheel to zoom in/out.
2. InDesign switches focus to the menu-bar so that the next keyboard press will enact the menu shortcut.
3. Type F, E, L, or T after using alt+scrollResult:
Menu entry is opened from the control strip (example View menu as soon as you hit the V key).Expected:
Key press should select the suitable tool denoted by that keyThis has been the behavior since quite long and does not look like a break in behavior.
Please can you confirm?Thanks

Key Commands not working
Sometimes when I open up an InDesign document none of my key commands work (I'm on the most up to date version of InDesign CC).
I end up having to close the file and restart the program to get them to work again. I have had instances in the past where I have 2 documents open at the same time and the key commands work in one but not the other.
Does anyone else ever have this issue?

For some reason Indesign is still painstakingly slow...
The slightest movements take FOREVER!!!!
8 votesHello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread…

InDesign 13.0.1 can not follow an alias on a server share anymore
InDesign 13.0.1 on a apple mac running 10.13.3 does not recognize alias (links) on a server share anymore. Photoshop still does.
Steps: Go to a server share, no matter if an smb or afp share.
Create a folder A. Place an file inside, e. g. 1.jpeg
.
Create an alias from folder A => A alias.
In InDesign choose OPEN:
Go to the server share
The Folder A is in black typo an available. Highlight A and you see the file.
The Alias A alias is gray, InDesign does not recognize the link.
Do the same in Photoshop, you will…8 votesIf you create an alias of a folder (located on a server) and drag it to the desktop, it works. For quick creation of aliases this way, press Option-Command while you drag the original item to the desktop.
Note : Accessing items of an folder’s alias located on a server has not worked in previous releases of InDesign too. -
Problems saving Indesign CC 2018 files directly onto a server
I have an issue saving Indesign CC 2018 files onto our server.
I have attached two examples of the error messages we get.
The only way we can work is to save the Indesign file, on to the Desktop and then moving over manually.
We have installed the latest version of Indesign CC 2018 and MacOS High Sierra (Version 10.13.2).
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
