  1. Find/Change Panel -> Dockable ?

I'm struggling with screen estate here (laptop, no other screen) and was wondering about the Find/Change window.

It's floating on top of everything, like a modal window, but you still can interact with everything underneath.

So it is basically acting like a panel.

What I am missing here is an icon + the option to dock it and hide and show when needed.

It is quite a large panel so it very often hides things (results, context) under it.

    What about 3 things :
    1. "make it a (real) panel", don't change design quick and dirty, but already solves the…

  2. Recognize GPU Performance on more systems

I have a 2013 MacPro with dual d500 GPU's and an Eizo CG277 Monitor...which is the pinnacle of graphic design monitors. I can't enable GPU performance?! Retina monitors do not have near the color accuracy of Eizos.
My Eizo connects via thunderbolt 2 and USB...both at the same time. The bandwidth is definitely sufficient.
It is ridiculous.... I have more than enough power, let me utilize it. Your requirements are not valid for professionals.

Please expand your list of GPU Performance systems beyond "Retina Monitors"

  3. Locate where a specific colour is used in your document

It would be really useful to be able to find exactly where a colour is used in a document. When you get a document from a third party and there are extra colours in it that you are trying to eliminate it is sometimes very difficult to track them down.

You can convert the colour to a spot colour then turn on separations and do a visual check but, apart from being time consuming and relying on it being large enough to be easily spotted, it won't help if the colour has been defined as part of a style.

The ability to find colors in documents in now available in InDesign’s latest release 16.0.

It can be found in a new tab of Find/Change dialog – Color.
Please let us know your feedback in comments.

    Regards,
    Abhinav Kaushik (AK)

  4. Footnotes in Separate Detached Frame.

It is a very important feature to be able to customise the layout of footnotes with full control. Currently footnotes in InDesign are attached to the main text frame, & you have no control over it.

We suggest being able to have footnotes in a separate fully customisable text frame, while still being linked to the main frame!

  5. Blurring part or full of an image for better readability

for some cowed images that we have to use it needs to blur some part of an image and for that we need to go to in photoshop and blur that image and come back to InDesign
why you not adding an option into blurring part an image or whole of it

  6. Restart footnote/endnote numbering after chosen Paragraph Style

Please add the possibility to reset the numbering of footnotes/endnotes in the paragraph style.

This should be a Paragraph Style Option.

If someone works in just one long tread, it would be much faster to reset footnotes or endnotes numbering automatically after specific paragraph style instead of making sections once and once again (after every reflow) .

  7. Still need MORE design options Forms via InDesign

This is still a current problem, it has been posted before but CLEARLY many people still have this frustrating problem that InDesign cannot preform the ENTIRE task of design and execution of an interactive form without the use of Acrobat. Specifically text colour and alignment/positioning in field.

  9. I want to let viewers scroll through an Indesign multipage file on my Pf site, using the "Publish Online" feature in InDesign

I want to let viewers scroll through an Indesign multipage file as one item in my portfolio grid in my Pf site. Perhaps InDesign and Portfolio can integrate a new feature using the "Publish Online" feature in InDesign to accomplish this in Pf!

  10. Background Tasks button for progress bar while saving

To duplicate. Export large document to Print PDF, attempt to save while exporting, but background task prevents saving, ok, but only available option is cancel.
Change would be to add another button to the dialog box to bring up the Background Task progress bar.
Or an OK button to just return to unsaved document, but panel could then be opened to follow progress.
Or leave dialog open and allow access to the small animated progress indicator in the top bar to open full background task panel.
Or allow access to the panel/tab from the sidebar.

    thank you

  11. It would be very helpful if, when re-linking missing links, the WHOLE of the filepath appeared along the top of the window.

It would be very helpful if, when re-linking missing links, the WHOLE of the filepath appeared along the top of the window. At present I only see the start and end of the path, which often isn't enough to identify it.

  12. let users change app language dynamically, without re-installing the app.

Users can't but reinstall apps in order to change language(e.g. Korean -> English).
I want it to be more simple.
Mandatory reinstallation just for changing language is overkill.

  13. Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.

I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to…

  14. Get back to home screen similar to Illustrator and Photoshop

I like having documents open and being able to go back to the home screen for illustrator and photoshop to visualize the thumbnails of the most recent documents. Please add that feature to inDesign.

  16. Form styles control within object styles

    hi,
I am referring to been able to edit and adjust all of the setting you have available via the form pane for buttons, check boxes, radio, combo and so on via an object style. at least i think it should be under object styles.

You should be able to control all of the forms options as a style so you don't have to select each one individually when the client has changes. for us doing elearning from indesign this is a must have when creating many text fields, combo boxes, check boxes and so on

  17. The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.

As a designer who typesets thousands of pages of academic research annually, the ability to convert footnotes to endnotes and vice versa is a helpful addition (thanks InDesign team), but more features are needed:

The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.

Currently this process is accomplished only via the benevolence and magic of Peter Kahrel's script, available here: http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/end_to_static_CC2018.jsx

The reason being, I can no longer use the InDesign XML tagging feature while the footnote/endnotes remain linked—for some reason, XML tagging of footnote/endnote text is not supported!

    If you'll indulge me, here's a…

  18. Find/change table stroke

When using Find/Change and selecting the tab to search for object attributes it's possible to search for a specific stroke width, color etc. But it does not look for that in tables. So if you don't use table or cell formating you have to select and find those attributes by hand. Couldn't there be a tab for searching attributes in tables as well?

  19. Re-separating the tool menu

You combined the tool menu in the right panel, but now I have to scroll down to the align section every time I want to adjust something. In InDesign, I'm mostly creating forms or schedules where I realign things constantly. It was more convenient before. Either put align at the top of the panel, or re-separate the panel. I can't drag align to the top of it either. If I could even just reorganize it, it would be better.
