Need to View and Edit Alt Text in InCopy
As an editor I need to be able to preview Alt text for Images and also edit that Alt Text if needed. Currently I need to go to Indesign to do that.

Directly create transparency on letters/words in a text frame
Currently it is not possible to define a letter or words within a text frame with a certain percentage of transparency. It is only possible to adjust the Tint. In the Effects Panel, the Transparency options are greyed out (not accessible).
Sometimes in a design you want to create such text effects, which at the moment can only be achieved with a workaround: an anchored text frame which poses several challenges if the transparent text runs over several lines.
Affinity Publisher offers this right out of the box in the current version (2.3.1). Quark Xpress can do this as well.…

InDesign Cannot Set Actual Text
InDesign has no way of setting actual text. This can only be done in PDF. Actual text is set when acronyms are used. Access technologies such as screen readers cannot properly read acronyms such as USA. They voice them as words, like "Youusah." Actual text has to be set for the document to be read correctly. TOC - Update page numbers only
Update page numbers only in TOC (like it is possible in a common Text Processing software) would save a lot of time, as we often insert styling and manual line warps in the TOC for aestetical reasons and have to redo it as TOC has to be refreshed and overwrites everything.
The suggestion in this forum to create Cross-References would also be a nice solution to this problem.

"Create Outlines" should automatically "convert bullets and numbering to text" first.
Currently you have to remember to select "Convert bullets and numbering to text" before you also select "Create Outlines." This should not be a two part process as there would never be a time when a designer would suddenly want the bullets and numbers to disappear when making outlined text for a printer.

Lyft background check?
It is an honor to be able to join the Lyft driver community, which sounds like one exciting environment. I am currently in the course of getting through the application steps. As I go through all the steps, I have thought about the thoroughness of Lyft with respect to what it looks for in a background check. More options when resizing a layout
If I need to resize a page/layout using Document Setup, ideally for me, all of the existing content would remain at the top of the page, so a new, taller page size would add more space at the bottom, or if I wish to shorten a page, empty white space would be removed from the bottom. InDesign 19.2 centers all content vertically on the new page size, which I can't imagine anyone would ever want, forcing the unnecessary step of moving everything back to the top of the new page. Emoji for Print: Update EmojiOne Color and Support COLR Fonts
I work for a large book publisher and more and more books (especially YA) include a lot of emoji. To the point that having to replace all emoji with art is a tedious process. For workflow efficiency and for accessibility issues, we utilize emoji fonts and convert them to outline, then color correct for print (grayscale or CMYK). That way we can support diverse emoji and preserve the unicode values so that characters are maintained as manuscripts go from Word to InDesign.

Google search in Indesign
Hi!
I want to be able to make a google-search from within an indesign-article/-text, by marking a word/phrase, right click and end up in the web browser with a search result based on my marking in Indesign. That couldn’t be to difficult to script, but a huge help.

Text Variables should support super/sub script
Text variables should support incidental superscript and subscript. Currently, even with using GREP in the paragraph style which defines the super- or sub-script and placing on a master page, the text variable does not support these formats in actual placement on document pages. Very elementary feature that should be supported.

vertical rule for one side of a text box
Column rules are great, but why can't i add a column rule to a text box containing just one column of text? Is this a bug?

Grid view when zoomed out
Please allow pages to move into a grid view when zooming out. This would allow for page layout artists to look at the "big picture" view all at once without the endless scrolling. Attaching two pictures, one is what indesign looks like now, the second is what it looks like in Microsoft Word which is a MUCH more helpful view. If this is already available, please let me know, I'd love to use this feature!

Autosave on Indesign !!!
Currently in much distress due to the lack of an autosave feature on indesign. We artists and students should not be trusted to manually save our work. We just leave it up at all times. I know this exists on Adobe applications, this needs to be a top priority. Too many lost files due to this. Praying for a miracle and a non-existent recovered file. CATER TO YOUR AUDIENCE!

Paragraph Rules Improvements
I would be great if the Paragraph Rules menu received a couple of improvements:
1) Add a chain link for when you want both the Color and Gap Color to be the same. Likewise for the Tint and Gap Tint percentage.
2) This one is a bit difficult to explain, but one of the biggest annoyances with using Paragraph Rules to apply a RULE ON to text is that the rule expands/contracts in an undesired way if you change the size of a text box or if you add/delete something from the text. Align to page when only one item selected!
I usually have 'Align to Selection' as my default. Wouldn't it be great if when only one item is selected that the align buttons use 'Align to Page'

Make share button neutral
The new SHARE button is very blue. In Photoshop we have the option to make it interface colored. Same in Illustrator. InDesign dosen't.

Paragraph Styles & Character Styles sort by color/label
It would be great to be able to color-label a specific paragraph style from the paragraph styles panel. It helps visually when working with lots of paragraph styles. Also, this applies to character styles as well. Perhaps even the groups within the paragraph styles panel could be color-labeled. This feature is already in Photoshop and even Premiere Pro has a color-label feature so for all of us working in InDesign it is a critical feature.

Batch Rename Multiple Layers at once. Find/Change Names of Layers.
Would be nice to rename multiple Layers at once in Indesign like renaming Files in a Finder-Folder. Or with a additional function for Find/Change.
Usecase in the picture below. Have to rename several Layers for exporting with scripts. Always double-click is annoying. Would improve my Workflow a lot.
