Vertical lines between text frame columns
Add an option to add vertical lines between text frame columns (with, of course, options to choose line weight, color, etc).
Column Rules has been implemented in InDesign 2020. Please upgrade to this version of InDesign to use this feature.

Yesterday, I suggested to add "Text Frame Row Rule Options" in the Text Frame Options.

Need help!! when I create a text box in InDesign lines appear inside the box? how to get rid of them??

Noted that the column rules can't be automatically aligned with the text frame bounds.
Column rules appear to ignore text frame inset padding and anchored objects and the rules needed to be incrementally sized manually to fit. This creates an issue if the text frame height is changed. -

Well, thanks for your efforts, nevertheless I find the implementation very poor. The length of the vertical line is controlled by the length of the text. But as an editorial designer, I need LINE BETWEEN COLUMNS, the length of the text is irrelevant. I also need to align the line to text frame quickly and efficiently. Please upgrade this half baked feature so it would be really useful and not just a tick in a to do list.
And please change the Czech translation of this new feature. It is NOT “Regulations for columns”, Google Translate is not the best tool to adapt UI to other languages.

I agree with making this feature available in the text frame options, under the gutter information.
You could have have tick box options to:
align it to cap height/baseline etc.,
centre on gutter,
align left/right on gutterAllow us to choose the line style, weight and colour.

This should definitely be a text frame option, not a paragraph style option – for that we now have paragraph borders.

I would appreciate it if Adobe made an object - level option for putting vertical rules in text box gutters.

This would be a great feature addition. I just completed the survey and hope to hear back on it.

This is the latest version of my script. It'll work on textFrames with 4,233mm gutter. Look at the placed photo and how the lines behave. -

I made de lines using a text frame and a white space character with underlined paragraph style. This textFrame respects the wrap preferences. So, if I use a photo with wrap on, the lines will keep the text height. Am I clear?

I mean exactly what this script I wrote do. -

Scott described the feature better than me. The attribute depends on the gutter width, not the paragraph. I think about same options as the simple lines feature. But between columns, within the gutter of a multicolumn textFrame.

Of course I mean a textFrame feature. Multicolumns frames.

Thanks ***** for this info.

Javed,
Paragraph borders would be a separate (and welcome) feature. This feature would apply only to paragraphs in multi-column frames and the rule would appear n the gutter only, not outside the frame. The rule position would be determined by the gutter width, no t an attribute of the paragraph.
As I said, the question remains whether this would be a paragraph attribute or a text frame attribute. Perhaps it makes more sense as a text frame attribute.
