visibility of the Colorsetting in menu bar
I often work in different color settings for newspaper printing or offset printing. It seems convenient to me if I can see the current color setting as a notification in the menu bar. Also usefull for other applications as well like Illustrator and Photoshop.

Edit Styles/Access Style Options dialog from Properties panel
It is easy to create a new style via the Properties panel, but cumbersome to edit styles.

Preserve filename on PDF export
This is a common issue having looked around the internet for a solution...
PDF export uses the name of the file up until the point where a user changes the name of the PDF before export, then saves the file after the export is done. That changed name is then written into the file and used as this is the expected behaviour.
However, this becomes an issue if you are repurposing the same artwork at different sizes (for example) where you have to manually override the filename on each export.

Remove Adjust Content from InDesign (or disable it)
When changing margins there is a new box that says "Adjust Content". This totally screws up your files if you don't uncheck it. I cannot find a way to disable the" adjust content" permanently. It should probably be either a preference or just removed from InDesign completely as it doesn't perform any useful function.

Underlined spaces at the ends of lines in running text
- It would be nice if, when an underlined space falls at the end of a line in running text, the space "disappears" so that it's underline isn't hanging out in space like a ghost..
- It's valuable because it looks weird when an underlined space sticks out beyond the last nonwhite-space character in the line. It's particularly noticeable in justified type, but I think the same principal applies regardless of the justification.

Empty index feature
Since 2016 people are trying to find a good way to reset/whipe/delete/empty the INDEX when things go wrong. This issue is not solved. It takes massive amount of time to delete an index manually.
I had "assistance" from Adobe online chat. They even think it is possible. But when checking in Indesign. They too find it impossible to empty an index.

Remove hyperlink:
Remove hyperlink: There is no simple convenient way to remove a hyperlink. When you check, you find, "Edit Hyperlink" or "Go to destination". So, you go to "Edit" and find the hyperlink field, with the only option to delete the hyperlink being the word/letter info of the link that's in the entire field. But then it won't let you do that, saying: "! Invalid Entry". So, you have to reenter the text you had hyperlinked, then delete the text with the hyperlink. Please add a menu line, in both "Text-Hyperlink" and right-mouse-button "Hyperlink" that says and does "Remove Hyperlink", along…
20 votesIf you have InDesign CC 2019, when you select a Hyperlink and look in the Properties panel, you will see 3 buttons – ‘Remove Hyperlink’, ‘Edit Hyperlink’ and ‘Manage Hyperlink’.
Remove Hyperlink does what it says – it removes the hyperlink. However, it retains the applied Character Style which can be manually changed by clicking the [None] style in the panel.
Manage Hyperlink opens the Hyperlinks panel (if it’s closed) and Edit Hyperlink lets you edit it.Hope this helps.

Enhanced 'Arrange Documents' features
It would be very helpful if one could apply keyboard shortcuts to 'Arrange Documents' options (Consolidate All, Tile All in Grid, Tile All Vertically, etc.) It would also be awesome if we could save our own frequently used layouts.

Ability to add alternate text to long hyperlinks
One of the suggested techniques for complying with WCAG 2.0 AA is to provide alternate text for long urls so that screen readers read the alt text rather than the url when tabbing through. This can only be done in acrobat at the moment. Which means it has to be done every time a PDF is created. We regularly amend our files and have many documents with many long (2 line) urls so it is going to be very time consuming to do this every time we create a PDF. Unlock UI when dialog box open
I would like to be ale to work on more than one pararagrapg or object while a dialog box is open. For instance, I’d like to be able to open the Paragraph Styles panel while in a paragraph then be able to click in another paragraph without having to close then reopen the panel.

Ctrl + Backspace
In almost any Windows program (including InDesign) hitting Backspace while pressing Ctrl deletes the word to the left of the cursor., while hitting DEL while pressing Ctrl deletes the word to the right.
With InCopy on Windows, the word to the right is removed no matter if you use DEL or Backspace. This is very irritating and a bit pointless, since Backspace and DEL are just a few cm apart.
Also, I find myself wanting to delete the word to the left of the cursor much more frequently than the word to the right. For me this is a deal…

Exclude Pages from Page Count
Please include an option to exclude certain pages of a document from the page count. I work with a lot of proposals that have page counts, but things like covers, table of contents, and tabs do not count. It's hard to keep track of the "counted" pages and having to go in and change the numbering every time I delete or insert a page. It would be great if you could right click on pages and say "exclude from page count" and the page count would continue on the next page.

Enable switching of pages in imported pdfs
I wish there was a way to change the page of an imported multi-page pdf instead of going to relink the image (to the same file) and selecting the page with the import options clicked. This would save me so much time. All it would require is a page up/down button in the links palette that would only be visible when a multi page pdf was linked in the document.

Add an option to rasterize chosen graphic objects on export (especially vectors)
Often we have to work with vectors, and often they take up a lot of space, which leads to the growth of the final PDF document and the slow rendering of the document in browsers. The trick with reducing transparency, when we make the selected frames 99% opaque and turn on the flattener, does not always give a good quality result and can cause stitching.
I suggest adding the option "rasterize" to the settings of the style of the graphic frame, so during the export the vector object is replaced with a raster copy. The quality settings for rasterization can…45 votes -
Ability to save .indt template files to the new document dialog box
It would be very beneficial if there was an option to import and save .indt template files into the new document dialog box for easy access.
Similar or the same as the Adobe Stock templates feature that is available in the new document dialog box.

Additional PDF export button for "CURRENT PAGE"
Without a lot of expensive coding, could you add a button for "CURRENT PAGE" in the dialog box for export PDF? It would be a lot quicker than having to enter the page number every time you want to export each page separately.
E.G.

Make the Package feature open by default in the same folder where the indd file is located
Make the Package feature open by default in the same folder where the indd file is located. That is, when it's asking me which folder to place the package folder into. Currently it opens in the last folder Package feature was used to make a package.
E.g.
1. I have indd in C:\1\1.indd
2. I use the Package function to make a package like C:\1\1 Folder
3. I have another indd in C:\2\2.indd
