Please expose a PDF's page count to scripting
To place a PDF in InDesign, you have to know the PDF's page count. The main point of the PlaceMultiPagePDF script is to show how you can place a PDF without knowing its page count, but it's slow business and get very tedious when you want to place part-ranges that include an open-ended range, such as 10-20, 30-
There is a hack, but it's ugly and unreliable.

make Spell Check and Find/Change operate in page order rather than chronological order of text box creation
Find/Change and Spell Check seem to function in a random way (they actually search through text boxes in the order in which the boxes were created in the document). In a large document a user can become very confused about how much of the document is searched, especially if he makes changes mid-search.
It would be much more user friendly if the functions would operate in a page by page order.

Add "Unmap All" to Map Tags to Styles
In the Map Tags to Styles popup panel, please supply a "unmap all tags" button. Sometimes we use the tags to prestyle text, but then apply manual overrides, and want to retain the manual overrides when importing new XML. We currently have to manually remove all mapped styles from the tags before doing that, which can be very tedious when working on large numbers of documents.

Ability to save .indt template files to the new document dialog box
It would be very beneficial if there was an option to import and save .indt template files into the new document dialog box for easy access.
Similar or the same as the Adobe Stock templates feature that is available in the new document dialog box.

Transparency is too fragile in Publish Online
I created some text overlays (saying "PROOF") as objects with no background fill, then set the objects to 30% transparency.
On publishing online, InDesign fills them with white, and some of the time also fails to produce the text.

Implement Adobe Sensei technology into InDesign
I recently attended the Adobe Symposium in Sydney, Australia, (as well as Adobe MAX in Las Vegas) and could not escape the phrase "Adobe Sensei" - Adobe's artificial intelligence software.
That said, is there any ability to implement Adobe Sensei technology into InDesign for any of the following purposes:
- Create a new indesign document based on a scan (for example, if I wanted to quickly create an invoice for a customer and all they had was a previously printed sample, I could scan the invoice and Adobe Sensei would do the rest, resulting in an InDesign file with type and…

List of all buttons in a file
We regularly have to create quite complex interactive PDFs with many buttons. It would be great to have a view like the Links panel that displays all of the buttons in a document, with where they go and which page they are on with a link to jump to that button (again like the Links panel).

chart panel
It would be great to have a chart panel that allowed you to make charts and graphs from indesign. Something with the same capabilities as powerpoint chart/graph making tool.

Move "missing links" prompt to before PDF export dialogue.
Please move the "missing fonts" or "missing links" prompts to BEFORE the PDF naming and features preferences. I makes me nuts when navigate to where I'm dropping the final export, then name it, only to have an alert pop up telling me I'm missing something. I should be told that IMMEDIATELY.

Expose a page item's height and width to scripting
A script can determine a page item's dimensions via its geometricBounds property. But this doesn't work when the page item is overset. To get the dimensions of page item in overset text, you have to expose the page item temporarily, which is always time-consuming and often barely possible.
So if we could have properties such as
myTextFrame.width
myTextFrame.heightthat would be very useful.
Thank you.

Shared graphics within an object box
Please make it possible to share a graphic in an object style. This feature was available 30 years ago in Quicksilver (Interleaf).
For example, we create multiple manuals that are scripts for administrators. When there is a speaking part, clients want a graphic of some sort to indicate that the administrator read the text. Or there are graphics that repeat throughout the document, but at the last minute, something may change. The object style can control so much , why not the content within the object box?
PLEASE!!!!!

DIV STYLE Panel FOR EPUB/HTML
Using hundreds of anchored text boxes (with Object styles) within threads is time-consuming but necessary to provide <div> classes for css.
It would be MUCH quicker if there was an InDesign Div Styles panel where I could apply a class for css to a section that needs different styling between PDF and ePub/html versions. These sections often contain 5 different Paragraph Styles so I need to add some kind of wrapper.1 vote -
Rework Grid: Set Grid opacity, Add Grid to Document setting in stead of Preferences
Grids are very usefull. But when those are In Front, it would be convenient if the opacity could be reduced. 100% opaque makes it hard to make design decisions when the grid is active.
An old (Xpress legacy?) irregularity, is that Grid settings are part of Preferences, while these should be part of Document Setup.
Grids belong to a document, not the application.

Table appearances preview
When changing the appearance of a table you have to highlight the table which is in Black. So when you want to preview the changes you cannot see what changes you have made.

Allow native generation of barcodes
The new QR code capability in InDesign is very handy and speeds up workflow. Please include similar functionality for all barcode types, including those such as: EAN, PostNet, UPC-A, UPC-E, KIX, ISBN, ISSN and others. The user should simply select the barcode type, enter the relevant data, and then InDesign will create a barcode in the proper size according to the standards. Of course, if the user wants to change the size for some reason, the object could be scaled. Allow selection of foreground and background color for the barcode, including transparency as the default. This will greatly speed up…

"Go back to a specific page"
"Go back to a specific page" - meaning if I have text links in the file and move from page 10 to page 110, give me an easy way to return to where I came from. In this case, page 10. Like a back button navigating through webpages.

More organization for CC Library files
I love the idea of using CC Libraries, but we have multiple versions of our logo built for different scenarios. We have different size logos built for a range of book spines, different colors depending on background, and logotype versions for specific product lines. Right now, I'm creating shorthand in the name of each element to differentiate them, but having metadata or notes for each item would help a lot. I could see the note popping up when you hover over an item. Another solution would be customizable sections within each Library. That way I could organize the logos within…
