Add ruler options
Add ruler options - specifically architectural ruler settings (ie, 1" = 1', etc) Allow subdivides to show 1'-6", etc.

Image Object page break
Make a page break for an image object become a separate page/xhtml doc in epub export. Not just something in the code, but an actual page, so that that if I say page break before image or after or both, it separates the image onto it's own xhtml doc and truly breaks it. Just like the split page export option in a para style, this would be helpful for objects to be treated the same way.

No repeat option wanted for headers and footers in table options
When you've got headers and footers in tables, there is no way to prevent them from repeating at all.
There are currently three options in InDesign Table Options:
1. Every Text Column
2. Once per Frame
3. Once per PageI'd like to see an option for "NONE" or "NO REPEAT".
I can also think of "Once per Spread" as a valid setting, but NONE is the most important, since the current solution is to convert the headers to body rows, and that destroys the information about the header rows actually being headers.

Automatic hanging indents/"indent to here" for lists
Currently, creating hanging indents for lists requires either manually adding "indent to here" ahead of every list item, or fiddling with the left indent and first line indent options of the list paragraph style until the desired effect is achieved-- a process that must be repeated if the type size changes or for subsequent list levels.
Since hanging indents are what one almost always desires when creating lists, it would be great if this was a checkbox option one could simply turn on when setting up list styles. With the option on, InDesign would automatically indent all text to the…

Preflight Panel: Page Range Textbox should be wider
In the preflight panel, the textbox that you can type page ranges into is simply too small, leading to confusion when you're working with higher-numbered ranges. See attached images of the same range and how digits are easily obscured.

type measurement units
I choose inches for my units. It used to be, that even when I did this, type units were always in points... specifically space before and space after paragraphs. Now, they display in inches. I know I can type in "p8" and it will convert... but I need to SEE it in points, rather than having to change my units every time I need to see this. I thought that previous versions also had, in preferences, units specifically for Type. I would like this feature back.

InDesign Book (indb) icon
The icon for indd and indb are almost identical. when looking at a folder full of indesign docs it can be a bit difficult to quickly recognize the book file.
Would be nice if the book file was a different color.

Running Headers to pull from previous page
Add the ability for a paragraph/character style to pull from previous page. Currently only given first on page and last on page. Need more options. example: chapter 1title is on page 1 and text crosses onto page 2. At the end of page 2 is the next chapter title, but need to be able to put the previous chapter header on page 2 as a running header.

Preflight options
Most of us have a set of Preflight Options which we embed in the document. There are cases where the preflight error is intended and is not an error at all. LikeI highlight 'Non Proportional Scaling'.There are cases where I want un-proportional scaling of images. It would be nice that we could select these cases and mark them as non-errors. There are other cases like 'Bleed/Trim hazards which' are placed at the edge of a page on purpose.
In this way, once the error is chosen and selected as 'non-error' we will not get them marked as errors.7 votes -
"Go back to a specific page"
"Go back to a specific page" - meaning if I have text links in the file and move from page 10 to page 110, give me an easy way to return to where I came from. In this case, page 10. Like a back button navigating through webpages. This is for PUBLISH ONLINE

Functionality to edit story order for InCopy and ADA reading order
We update documents several times a year and have just started using InCopy. It would be beneficial to have the ability to control the story order to match your layout. This could be utilized to sync the order when viewing in the story editor mode (especially in InCopy) and additional functionality to pair with Acrobat when setting up ADA compatible file reading order which we do on every file.

Text Variable as a consecutive number
Possibility of defining and inserting a text variable as a consecutive number of the list.
Thanks to this variable it will be possible to number subsequent words in a sentence. For example (1) thing, (2) thing, (3) thing etc, or thing1, thing2, thing3 etc. There are infinitely many possibilities. Verse of poetry at the end of the verse etc. References to comments which are not endnotes or footnotes (without laborious definition of cross references). Sometimes it is necessary to list the words or any fragment of text within a paragraph, or to add numbered references to comments inside the text.…

Movies in interactive PDF
MP4 files that work everywhere in interactive PDFs would be so big. You’d own the world, dude.
This has to be on top of a list somewhere, it ain’t rocket science to understand how important this is. Buy someone or something, just get it done.

Easy way to convert text to outline while exporting
Most of our printers still ask for fonts to be outlined.
Unfortunately the process to outline is very complicated and usually results in bullets, text box backgrounds and underline/over-lines disappearing. I also don't always want to flatten the whole document but simply rasterize the text. Especially when sending something to print that has different ink layers. Being able to outline text in the Export dialog box would be the best solution. This way I don't have to save a separate document or undo all my changes before saving so I retain my text in the Indd file.92 votes -
font weight mapping
Different font foundries/designers have different ideas on how to name the font weight. Unfortunately this causes problems, when you want using (character) styles like "BOLD" or "ITALIC".
More often then not, you need to change the definition (from "bold" to "65 bold" or "Italic" to "oblique") when changing the font.
If you have multi-font documents, you even need to assign styles according to the font instead of the weight. Building a hierarchy of styles gets more complicated too.
The idea is to have a table of weight mapping like:
65 bold = bold;
bold = bold;

Ignore pasteboard
I would like to "ignore pasteboard" when running spell-check. Often I have extra text on the pasteboard that I don't want to delete, but I don't want to wade through while spell-checking.
Related to that -- it would be great if we could indicate certain frames we don't want to spell check. I do publications that have long lists of names that take forever to work through. I don't need to spell check them. Or maybe an "ignore capitalized words" function could do that.
These would be enormously helpful to editors! Thanks.

enable paragraph style groups to be added to CC libraries
Can you create the ability to group paragraph styles in CC libraries as they can in an InDesign file or template.
The idea is to have various groups of styles that apply to different document types that we create, and be able to share these across users in the company.6 votes -
when using the GAP tool, allow to enter the space size.
When i have a collage of many images and I want to have all the spacing between the images the same exact amount, entering a desired size will be a huge help.
