  1. Save As location

Right now the Save As location seems to be the PREVIOUS folder location where I saved a file.
However, in other programs like Photoshop, the default location goes to the same folder as opened file.
Consulted help center and got no solution other than rerouting every time I save as a file. PLEASE also make the default Save As location in InDesign to the same location as opened file!! I'm working on like 3 or more projects at the same time and have to reroute the save location all the time! In fact I accidentally overwrote an important working file…

  2. It would be helpful to see how many tracked amends are in an InCopy file and PDFs of the InCopy amends

It would be helpful to see how many tracked amends and a break down of the type of amends eg. 7 insertions, 12 deletions etc. in InCopy and PDFs of the InCopy amends. Like you can do in Microsoft Word.

This is something that would be very useful for our company.

  4. idml icons

In InDesign CC 2019, its hard to see the difference between the icons of INDD and a IDML files. I propose to Adobe to keep the INDD icon unchanged and to make IDML icone with a purple coulour but not so saturated that on INDD icons. Maybe it should be almost grey.

  6. place multi-page illustrator

    Feature or Script request:

    1. Place multi-page (multi artboard) files in InDesign with similar auto flow feature as Shift+Place Autoflow Text when Pasting.

    2. Paste multiple Illustrator files at one time with autoflow. For example: 3 separate Illustrator files with 3 artboards each. Script would place each of the 9 artboards on consecutive pages while maintaining the image box size and fill attributes of a user created image box.

    3. Dialogue box to select which artboards are to be placed & layer visibility (similar to current place Illustrator file function). This might only work when a single file is being placed.

  7. STYLE support for run-in (aka in-line) headings

Currently there is no Style setting that can produce a run-in heading. This is a very widely used style in documents using more than 2-3 heading levels, and I have needed it for years now.

NOTE: Using Nested Styles does not fulfill the need for run-in headings. Using a nested style is a work-around based on character styles, and this technique does not allow a heading to be "promoted" or redesigned!

    A quick solution:

Create a new Style setting checkbox to be used by the run-in heading style: "Run-in". When checked, the paragraph is given 0 leading, and its total…

  8. Shading for character styles

I love using the shading for whole paragraph styles, but it would be nice to have shading for character styles as well. This would be nice for "highlighter" effects, which you just want to highlight a few lines or words. Just like applying an underline or strikethrough, but with a little more control over color, padding, maybe even shape?

  9. Imported text linked to a document (like Word) where changes can be made and then automatically updated in indesign document

When importing text, we brake the link with the original textual content. I wish we could have the option to keep the imported text linked to its original document so that we can design while some of the content is being modified in a word processor and then updated like any other kind of link and without losing the applied styles.

  11. Duplicate page along with new swatches

Would love it if i was able to duplicate a page along with its swatches and the new page would now be linked to the new color swatches. This way i could change all the colors on the page and it would only apply to that page.

Alternatively, perhaps i would be able to create new swatches from a page, and the page would now automatically be linked to the new swatches so i could globally change a color but only for that particular page (because it created and linked new swatches for the page).

    I would love this please.

  12. Add the Ability to turn off hover scrolling

Hover Scrolling lets you interact with the dropdown menus without ever having to click on them. Sounds cool, right?

Normally, this is not a problem, because you can easily see what has been changed because you've got an object selected. But when working with conditional text, the conditional text indicator visibility is a GLOBAL setting, and thus, hover scrolling over it can change your document, even with nothing selected. And if you're not on a page with conditional text. you'd never even know that your document got changed, until you send it to print!

This has been plaguing me for…

  13. MSO Hidden Default State

Currently, to revert back to an MSO not being visible after one or more of the states have been active, you have to create atop-level "blank" state that contains an empty frame of some sort, and show that state.

This seems like a workaround that should be built-in. Maybe a few new choices can be added to the "Show/Hide" options in a button's choices:

    • Reset "X" MSO to invisible state
    • Rest all MSO's to invisible state

    ...or something similar.

    Thanks!!

  14. Paste Charactes Styles like you Paste without Formatting

What if I can paste a Character style to a selected text from another selected text. You can paste text on another styled text to inherit its style, why not the opposite too.
In my attached example, I want "Martes" to look like "Domingo", to make it faster I think of copying Doming over "Martes", then retype Martes... too many steps.
If I had "paste style" I would make "Martes" look like "Domingo" with a quick shortcode.
I know, I know. There is such thing as Character Styles, but they are not always useful since sometimes I only need a…

  15. CC library items - update placed instances after editing library item

This applies to elements created within InDesign and then added to CC Libary.
If I place instances of the library item into an InDesign document, those instances are not updated if I edit the library item.
In other words it would be helpful if placed library items would update as they do with the old version of InDesign Library.

  16. Make Ink Manager panel resizable

Title says it all. Sometimes we have a lot of spotcolors. I would be nice to see them all at once.

  17. Associate master pages with paragraph tags

As one has been able to do in Framemaker, one should be able to assign a master page automatically based on a paragraph tag, i.e., if paratag ChapterTitle, then assign master page "ChapterOpener". This is important because often reflows move openers to different pages, meaning that EVERY master page in the document then needs to be evaluated and reassigned given its new position.

  18. Bookmark highlited

Once I set a bookmark on a page, I would like the bookmark name to be highlighted in the bookmark panel when I'm on the page. Just like how when an image is selected, the name is highlighted in the links panel.

  20. Include the 'Paste in Front' and 'Paste in Back' features that are already in Illustrator.

Being able to paste in front or in back makes layout of overlapping objects a breeze. Everytime I have to cut and paste an object, I need to set the arrangement of the object. It becomes a pain when I have many objects on the same layer.
