1. Better functionality when placing Excel 2020 textcells referring to another cell

   Depending on InDesign and Excel version the results differ when placing Excel text cells referring to another cell. I have a big financial report with lots of text references, it would be great if this worked with latest versions of InDesign and Excel.

2. Larger Colour Swatch Window and Colour Creation Tools

   When creating or changing a colour in the swatch window the square that shows the colour is tiny and the dragging tools be it in RGB or CMYK are the only way to choose a colour. I feel like more options could easily be availble here in terms of how to pick a colour, like a large "rainbow" grid to drag the mouse around to select exactly what you want. The current system, larger with more fidelity would be incredible!

3. Native fullscreen-mode on macOS

   I think InDesign (and every other CC application) should support Apples native fullscreen-mode in macOS. I can understand when some people prefer the oldschool way of just maximizing de window, but the native fullscreen-mode would be so much more convenient when working with multiple desktop spaces and would be much more consistent within macOS.

4. Convert paths in placed vector image to native paths

   It is now finally possible to place SVG files as well as PDF files. That is great news for the many, many people who create logos and such things in SVG.

   Everything you place, however, is still placed as completely uneditable images, which in many cases makes it somewhat useless. Especially with simple things like vector logos, it would be immensely useful to be able to convert the embedded vector paths in the placed file to native InDesign paths to adjust things like stroke colour, etc., in the actual InDesign document. Essentially, making it possible to use an SVG/PDF/EPS file as an InDesign snippet.

   Clearly, there are aspects of SVG and PDF files which cannot be easily converted to native InDesign content (interactive stuff, effects, etc.), but it should at the very least be possible to convert simple vector paths to native paths as a starting point. A simple warning that such a conversion may result in loss of some functionality should be sufficient to inform users that not everything is snippetisable.

   Currently the only ways to get vector paths into an InDesign document appear to be (1) to draw them directly in InDesign (not an option if it’s something like a client’s logo); or (2) to open the vector file in Illustrator, copy the paths there, and paste them in InDesign (not an option for those of us who don’t have Illustrator).

   Considering that InDesign already has to read and layout the paths in the placed file (presumably by emulating native paths somehow), it shouldn’t be too hard to simply convert them to actual native paths.

5. Place a page from a document into itself on a different page

   I work on price lists and we have a page that explains how to use the price list. In that descriptive page, I insert an illustrator file of one of the product pages. The problem is that the information, prices and images are changed from time to time and the description page becomes outdated. If I were able to place an indesign page from the same document into itself then the information would always be up to date.

6. A search and replace that is a series of search and replaces

   Often users need to run a series of search and replaces on a document. Why not create an S&R that runs a series of S&Rs in a user-defined order. It'd be great for cleaning up text. Also, allow users to decide if each S&R is run as "replace all" or with the user deciding each replace.

   In addition, allow S&Rs to be run automatically when text documents (typically from Word) are placed. Choosing that would be one option in the Place window.

7. Adaptive layout, Simple math, Line Breaks with Data Merge

   The simplest example to describe a problem:
   I'd like to generate many invoices. Every invoice have different number of products on in, in table. + It would be great to have calculations options in this table. Also i think that controlling line break with data merge is must have. Create special code for ex. " " to automate it! :)

10. InCopy - Split screen view for Story and Layout

    In Incopy it's only possible to use one view. Gallery, Story or Layout.
    It would be great if we could also combine 2 views into one.

    With the 27" displays now in general use, we should be able to show one half of the screen in Story mode and one half in Layout mode.

    This allows for users who need to change texts to show also the overset text in the story mode when the text in layout mode is not visible (due to the overset text).

    Sometimes when editing the texts in Layout mode and then switching to Story mode you need to scroll and find the text you were working on.

    In the new split screen a person would select a text in Layout or Story mode, the other screen would also show the selected text.

    I've added a screenshot of how it would look.

11. Clear All Style Sets—Right from the Style Set Menu

    Since there are a lot of windows to get to the OpenType Style Sets, we need a button that can clear all the opentype features we've tried out. This can be put into the Stylistic Sets Menu. (See attached picture.)

    This isn't just valuable to me. This is valuable to:
    1. Other users can feel free to use style sets, knowing that they can quickly clear all options, not spend minutes clicking through menus—Just to turn something off!
    2. Font designers might add more features into their fonts if the features are easier to use.
    3. You've already made that opentype feature button when you highlight, thank goodness for that! We just need a better way of clearing the style.
    4. This allows a lot of utility to the end user, but since it's just a simple menu button, with a simple function it won't really take as many man hours to implement.
    5. Your product becomes even more indispensable to type enthusiasts.

    (This can also be implemented in the Opentype Tab of the Character Styles menu.)

    Basically, this will make a lot of more advanced users happy with very limited downside to Adobe. I have attached a picture of how this might look.

    PS If the above idea is too difficult to implement, here's an even easier one: At the very least, if the menu behavior was different, it would save us a lot of clicking. And it's just this simple thing: Keep up the menu after I or another user click on a style set. That way, we users can choose multiple type options.

    It's that simple.

    This goes for the Entire Menu, once you've clicked on "OpenType."

    Additionally, since the behavior is so subtle, I believe most users won't even know the menu behavior changed, but might just feel like, "Wow, this menu is so much easier to use."

    Easy to implement, a lifesaver for those of us who spend all day clicking through these menus!

12. Changing the backgroung/page colour

    I would very much like to be able to change the background colour in incopy. For example: a green page colour, with a silverish font colour. (the latter can be done already)
    As a writer, I like to work on my own terms. So this would make me love incopy, and not just use it when I need to.

13. Add conditions to Data Merge

    There should be conditions in data merge to include or exclude text based on the data in a record. For example.e consider a set of business cards. Some users might have a Twitter handle or mobile number, some might not. Currently there is no way to omit empty fields and any text that might fo with it, line an "M" and tab to prefix a mobile number and the line break after it. There should be a way to make that text conditional on whether the field is empty or what is in it.

    e.g. IF @mobile<>"",M^t@mobile^p,,)

    If the mobile number is not blank ad M, tab, the mobile number, then a return. If it is blank add nothing.

    e.g. IF @*** ="F",Mrs.,IF @***="M",Mr.,

    If the *** of the record is F insert “Mrs.”. If *** is M insert, "Mr.". If it is neither of those insert nothing.

    This makes cleaning up long merged documents much easier.

14. Fast book export to PDF

    When you have a book with a lot of files inside (more than 100), the export to PDF takes a lot of time. The mouse stucks and it ist not possible to work effectively.
    Every day we are working multiple times with the book funktion.
    A new PDF Export will be very nice and very very helpful.

16. Revert back to exact screen placement after Screen Preview (shift+w)

    When pressing escape after screen preview, the view resettles on the middle of the page (but keeps the zoom level) rather than resettling where you were working. This makes flipping between normal and screen preview mode a bit less seamless, as you have to keep scrolling back to the part you were working on after previewing.

17. Cloud working

    A feature for working together on an Indesign document would be great for the year 2019. Similar to Adobe XD Cloud documents, or comparatively like the collaboration of Indesign and Incopy (Check in / Check out) - just cloud based.

    I Just want a solution for a group of Designers working on one project without having the trouble of creating a load of documents.

19. Diagonal Strikethrough

    An upgrade to the existing strike through option with new settings that allow for diagonal lines. I've added a mockup of the character style options.

    This would be an awesome little update wich has many uses and make the life of a lot of InDesigners easier.

20. Custom/favorite zoom

    Especially when working on a small laptop while traveling, I like to use a couple of zoom levels that are non-standard, and have to keep retyping the percentages in the bottom left of the screen.

    For example, I frequently want to zoom to the width of a page's text frame, not including the margins, which on my current laptop is 100%. That's easy because it corresponds with one of the present zoom levels.

    But I also frequently zoom to show a spread's text frames; I don't want to waste my precious laptop screen space on the margins away from the spine. That's 45% which I have to type in every time. I would be so happy if I could add this as a favorite to the other preset levels.

    "Zoom to page text frame" and "Zoom to spread text frames" would be great additions to the list.
