swatch expected, but swatch gotten
The following code on a tables cell…
cell.leftEdgeStrokeColor = app.swatches[0];
cell.rightEdgeStrokeColor = app.swatches[0];results in the error "Swatch erwartet aber swatch erhalten" (translation “Swatch expected, but swatch gotten”). That is probably not a helpful error message.

InDesign 2026 cursor scaling problem
Subject: Cursor remains extremely small on 27-inch 4K monitor despite all available scaling settings
I would like to report a HiDPI scaling issue in Adobe InDesign 2026 that affects usability on professional 4K monitors.
My setup consists of two displays connected to the same Windows PC:
- ASUS ProArt PA279CRV – 27-inch, 3840 × 2160 (4K)
- KOORUI 27-inch – 1920 × 1080 (Full HD)
When InDesign is displayed on the KOORUI Full HD monitor, the text cursor (insertion point) appears at a normal and comfortable size. However, when I move the exact same InDesign window to the ASUS ProArt PA279CRV 4K monitor, the cursor becomes extremely small and difficult to see.
I have already tested all available scaling-related options without success:
- Windows display scaling at multiple values, including 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%, and higher available settings.
- InDesign Preferences → User Interface Scaling → UI Sizing set to Large.
-
Windows Compatibility settings:
- Application
- System
- System (Enhanced)
Restarting InDesign after each change.
None of these settings significantly improve the cursor size on the 4K display.
It is important to note that the Windows cursor itself scales correctly and remains clearly visible throughout the operating system. The issue appears to be specific to InDesign’s text insertion cursor. The behavior can be reproduced instantly by simply moving the InDesign window from the Full HD monitor to the 4K monitor, without changing any other settings. This indicates that the problem is related to how InDesign handles HiDPI scaling on 4K displays.
Because both monitors are 27 inches, the physical size difference is not caused by screen size but by the much higher pixel density of the 4K display. As a result, the insertion cursor becomes disproportionately small compared to the rest of the interface.
I would also like to emphasize that reducing the monitor resolution is not an acceptable workaround. I specifically purchased the ASUS ProArt PA279CRV for professional graphic design, catalog production, image editing, and color-critical work at its native 3840 × 2160 resolution. Lowering the resolution defeats the purpose of using a professional 4K monitor.
I kindly request that Adobe review and improve the scaling behavior of the text insertion cursor in InDesign on HiDPI and 4K displays, or provide a dedicated option to independently adjust cursor thickness and visibility.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Screen does not refresh in all cases
Every now and then, InDesign shows things in a previous state, which is very confusing.
E..g. when adding a page break, the break is added, but the text remains, until the document is scrolled. The screen does not seem to refresh after this action.I am on a Mac Studio M3 Ultra, InDesign 21.4

HEIC file usability
I just embedded twenty HEIC files in an INDD file and the file rapidly became extremely sluggish. The color wheel of death spun regularly for almost every 5th action step. Even simple adjustments into the file, caused the color wheel to spin. Its time to get this bug fixed from Indesign.

FX Blending Modes not working
I'm running InDesign on an Intel iMac Pro OS X 15.7.7. It has just updated to 21.4 and the FX pane doesn't appear to be working. I select the frame I want to apply the FX blending mode to (multiply in this case) and nothing happens. I can only get it to work if I assign the blending mode by going to the main menu Object > Effects > Transparency,
Is anyone else having this issue?

Upon migration to a version 21.4 pasteboard size is not carried on
Upon migration to a version 21.4 pasteboard size is not carried on. I always set my defaults to 256 x 128 or 512 x 128 mm but upon migration of my preferences to a new InDesign these has been reset to defaults.

When trying to make a new doc does not allow me to because margins were set to big on last doc
On last doc I made I needed big margins, so
- previous doc I made 350mm margins
- went to make new file
- new doc
- made dims of page smaller like 150mm x 1000mm
- error warning saying not allowing me to make doc due to big margins
- try to change margins its not letting me make doc.In old versions of indesign it would just make massive margins that would meet in the middle like a tiny pink square in middel of page, then let you make the doc without any warning and then you would just reset you margins if you wanted them.
This blocking of making new doc is not expected or fluid, I had to try about 10-15x to make the doc, eventually I switched to auto page layout and reduced margins there and it let me, but the warning is not clear.
This is just wrong, coming from some one who used Quark from 1993-1999, Page maker 1994-96, Indesign 1999-2026 almost everyday.
Really its just wrong and a massive bug. I should not be blocked from making a file just for having margins on my last doc too big.

Type Pipette
Type Pipette does not work. No specific steps necessary to reproduce. When using it tints the text in a random color instead of applying font styles such as size, leading and color. I am using a MacBook Pro, 2023 MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1, Indesign 21.3. Already tried to de- and re-install. Shut down computer and even deleting settings manually form Library. Then in worked for like a day and after stopped working again.

I've already tried to reset the preferences, but no luck with that. It's just not there.

Add feature: 'oepn in new window' for creating hyperlinks within InDesign Document and exporting to interactive PDF.
Working on creative cloud Adobe InDesign 2026
Add feature: 'open in new window' for hyperlinks within InDesign document, so that you don't navigate away from interactive PDF when you click on hyperlinks within the document.

Export to Flat psd --- not flat
Export As..., option 'Flat image' does not result in an actual flat image. the result is a layer in Photoshop, instead of a Background / flat image.
Why is this important? Because in InDesign, only really flat grayscales can be given a color. Unfortunately, the result of the Ai export has to be flattened in Photoshop before it can be used to color it in InDesign.1 vote -
Can't edit page elements when updated from 2024 to 2026 versions of inDesign
My book that is roughly 200+ pages was created in 2023 and was editable in all versions until I got to 2026. My computer's processing power is not in question, but I can no longer edit elements that were created on previous versions. If I make new pics, text blocks, or anything, those are editable, but nothing else. If I try and revert the file, it warns me that I may LOSE my material if trying to go back.. This is unacceptable. In ever instance I don't want to open the file in the newest version and each time it is updated on my computer "Stealthily" and pushes through the conversion.
Maybe I'm missing something, is there a setting I need to have ON or OFF in order to edit all aspects of a page?
If it's not this, then you have a bug that needs to be addressed.
pic below, you notice the edit border on the text to the left; if I click on the right page text options, nothing happens, it can't be manipulated, selected or changed in any way.

Keep setting of PDF export when cancalling the export
Please make InDesign remember file name and other settings when user interrupts process of exporting PDF.
Typical scenario: you start exporting PDF, you select the right folder, file name. InDesign the displays warning, some files are missing. So I cancel the export, fix the links. Unfortunately the time I spend looking for right folder, setting the right file name is not respected, I have to start the whole process again. It is annoying if you have a complex structure of folders located on a server share.
