Facing-page layouts always have one un-editable page
If you set up facing master pages with a text frame on each, you can only set the text frame as "primary" on one of the pages. That means every other page you create from the master will be un-editable. This defeats much of the purpose of a master page, and provides no benefit.
The only semi-workaround is to connect the two frames, but this is not always acceptable. Sometimes it is necessary to keep the stories separate.

Some Cyrillic RTF files exported from Indesign are broken if a non-breakable space was used
Indesign 20.3.1 x64 release.
Attached is the Indesign file. Both frames are identical, except for the topmost has one non-breaking space and the bottommost has a regular space instead. The export from the top frame produces the buggy RTF (a screenshot of the glitch location is attached), while the bottom one is ok. If we put any non-breaking space there - it will fail as well.
The bug was reported as font-dependent as well, i.e. the text set in Arial may have the bug while the text set in Minion Pro may not have it.1 vote -
The Book panel disappears and can't be re-displayed.
The Book panel is essential while working, because (as far as I know) it's the only way to sync styles across your book's files. But once it disappears (which it does frequently), there is no apparent way to redisplay it. Attempting to re-open the indb file doesn't do anything, even if you've closed all other files.

Font Futura PT is not recognized by InDesign
Font Futura PT is not recognized by InDesign, I saved it in Adobe Fonts in a library and activated it, updated Indesign to the latest version 20.3.1 and restarted my MAC. It still doesn't work.

M4 GPU support
Using latest ID version (20.3.1) on Sequoia (15.4.1) on two different silicon Macs (Mac Mini M4, Macbook Pro M4 Pro) – neither recognizes the GPU in Indesign (greyed out in ID Setting menu). Monitors used include Macbooks internal display. Without GPU support performance is lacking but most importantly glitches are present (clicking boxes or zooming in and out does not work properly). As it is, Indesign is hardly usable. Other Adobe apps, Photoshop, Illustrator, work flawlessly and recognize the GPU.

Creating a new cross reference instance and/or changing the para style of existing X-ref hangs Indesign
INDESIGN 2025 V. 20.3.1.73
-
STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE X_REF BUG WHICH HANGS INDESIGN
2.1 Show the Cross-References panel (choose Window > Type & Tables > Cross-References)
2.2 Either a) double click on an exisiting Cross-reference in the Cross Reference Palette to edit it in the (modal) "Edit Cross-Reference" dialogue panel.
2.3 OR b) Click the Create New Cross-Reference button in the panel.
2.4 Click on the Reference Format drop down menu .
EXPECTED RESULT
Show the Cross Reference Format drop down menu, allowing user to select of one of the items in the list of current Formatting styles. This new format will then be invoked in the document layout view. (See screen shot with filename "HANG BUG when x-ref style menu is invoked.png").
Clicking the "Ok" button confirms the choices made in this dialogue and ends the model window session (which prevents other editing of document(s) to take place during the generation of a new/edited X-ref in the text.ACTUAL RESULT
Frequently these steps results in a hang.ADDITIONAL LEVELS OF DETAIL, TESTING & LOGICAL ANALYSIS
Seem like clicking on the Cross Reference Format Style menu is always trigger for the Hanging, not any of the previous steps, Though this does not mean that clicking on this menu ALWAYS results in a Hang. Changes to the X-Ref format style are sometimes possible (even on a X-ref that previously hung InDesign) and the operation will in this case always succeed when "ok" button is clicked.
In trying to determine the subtle cause of intermittent hanging during these operations, it would sometimes appear that this seems to be related to generating a text for the reference that is longer the the remaining white space on the line where the cross reference is being inserted.
Under normal circumstances, changing a X-ref style is may cause the line of text with the new or previewed edit to X-ref to be overset (the screenshot file called "red dot for overset text.png")
But in many cases the existing style is not causing overset text, but even clicking on the menu (rather than clicking then releasing on a new formatting Style item in the list) results in the hang. And at other times it's only after a different formatting style is selected the hang occurs.
.6. CONCLUSIONS
So its seems to be that the Hang bug trigger is orthogonal to the actual variations in the formatting style settings themselves, and more likely to be the code which executes the menu or the screen redraws for menu changes that is at fault. But given Adobe's woefully buggy code for InDesign and Illustrator, who rightly knows at this point after 15 years of the codebase seeming becoming repeatedly refactored with bad design choices that only make a buggy application worse with each release in terms of application stability with respect to existing Indesign features and functions (many of which have been in the app for over a decade, although possibly enhanced, reworked for the cross-platform JS based UI framework refactored or rewritten entirely).
.7. FURTHER NOTES FOR ADOBE TO READ AND TO PLEASE TAKE SERIOUSLY
I demonstrated this hanging behaviour during a live screen-sharing session with an Adobe support worker using their Adobe's in-house screen sharing application. I asked this person to log this as a bug. The poor technical support employee of Adobe was unable to confirm or deny if this bug is known or new to their developers and obvious no idea if a fix was in the works. He suggested opening the files in Adobe InDesign 2024. I have not attempted this at this point, if there is feature parity with the new cloud based InDesign Review system (which new feature logs seem to indicate is the case) and all the other INDD features I'm using then I'll consider doing so and report back on success or failure of this.
I note that bugs on User Voice forums in relation to previous iterations of InDesign and it's Cross Referencing set of functions seem to litter this forum. So any linkages with these might be worth investigating.
Might I add that i resent wasting hours of time on buggy INDESIGN applications for over a decades now and then getting so frustrated I have to spend an hour or more of my time documenting the bug as precisely as possible in the (vain) hope of the bug being fixed before the current project I'm working on is completed. I've laboured under this bug for a couple of months now for a project I dont work on every day, it's a long multi-document report using the InDesign Book to combine the Indesign files for TOC, X-refs and page numbering functions with a total number of pages which will be in the 100s.

Reflow 3.0 ePub export TOC (RSC-005) error/bug since last update 20.3.1
Hello,
I'm a professional book designer. Since last Friday's update, all eBooks are exporting with the entire TOC generating (RSC-005) errors--every link. I'm exporting 3.0. I reexported an older project which was good and it has same errors. This is a BUG. I had tech support access my computer, and he says it's not and that Adobe doesn't care about 3rd party verification. However, VENDORS do and have rejected the eBook. Can anyone help? My business is dead in the water until this is resolved.
Thank you, Christine

Blank screen and forgotten workspace settings
I cannot believe we are still dealing with blank screens upon returning to an open InDesign document and I CANNOT believe we are still having to reset our Workspace settings almost every time we boot the app. I'm using version 20.3.1 and NONE of these things have been fixed. This has been going on for over a year through countless updates. Worse, it causes the unbelievably annoying popups to keep happening. If ID remembered my workspace settings from one boot to another I wouldn't have to deal with this.
Stop with the high school level coding and fix these long standing issues once and for all. Jesus.

InDesign stops at "Fetching Service Registry" on launch every time — only resolves when disabling fonts
Hello Adobe team,
I have been using InDesign regularly, but for the past year, I have been encountering a very annoying and recurring issue.
Every time I try to launch InDesign, it gets stuck on the screen saying "Fetching Service Registry" and never completes the startup process. After troubleshooting, I found out that temporarily disabling some OS fonts allows InDesign to launch properly.
However, this is extremely inconvenient as I have to do this every single time before starting my work. This issue is highly reproducible and happens almost every launch.
I would kindly request that the team look into this issue and address it in a future update.
【Environment】
OS: Windows 10
InDesign version: 20.3.1 ×64 (example: InDesign 2025)
Creative Cloud: Always up to date
Thank you very much for your attention and support.

text or outline in anchored object disappears in print file version
Just upgraded to Windows 11 and I'm having an issue when exporting documents with interactive elements that have been anchored. Frames for buttons or fillable text that should be appearing are not.

Adobe InDesign 2024 hangs on startup. Blocking a few Adobe services works around the issue.
I have a fresh install of Adobe InDesign 2024 19.5.3.144 on Mac OS.
When launching InDesign 2024, it starts up, but then locks up after a few seconds with a spinning beach ball. I tried to let it sit for a long time, but it never recovers and I needed to force-quit. Resetting preferences does not help.
I experimented a bit and found that by adding the following entries to /etc/hosts I can block a few Adobe servers which then allows InDesign 2024 to launch normally and work properly.
127.0.0.1 p13n.adobe.io
127.0.0.1 crs.cr.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 lcs-cops.adobe.ioWith these entries in /etc/hosts, InDesign cannot reach these services and does not 'hang' on startup.

Crash of InDesign CC25 resetting the settings to default
Hi There,
I experienced several crashes the last days, that is one thing, but I had to make all the settings made in the Workspace, the shortcuts, the general settings again after each crash. this is so annoying.
Well I know you can export your usersettings, but it does not work properly as it seems, the scaling of the UI does not apply as exported.
It is frustating that such things make errors within a half year of CC25…System: macOS 15.4.1 (2020, M1-Chip)

Icon not showing in Windows File Explorer
InDesign v20.3 shows blank square in Windows File Explorer, instead of INDD Icon. Opens as expected in InDesign 2025.
I have already done icon cache rebuild, repair install, and reset file associations.
BTW The reason why it's important: InDesign icon isn't just cosmetic. It’s a visual anchor that helps you quickly pick .indd files out from folders full of images, PDFs, and links. Losing that icon seriously hurts workflow — especially in design-heavy environments with lots of asset types.

palettes position in full screen
when in full screen mode, in my particular workspace (which I like, hence why I use it) certain fly out menus don't know that I am in this mode and try to fly up without considering that they are 'off the screen'. So I tend to temporarily change the view mode, do my edit, and then put things back to full screen. Is this a bug? Shouldn't anything the pops open or 'flies out' know where the edge of my screen is, especially in full screen mode?
I have attached a screenshot of this particular issue, when trying to adjust some strokes in the Appearance tab.

Bolding missed/changed while importing Word doc
I'm using ID 20.2 on Mac 15.4.1.
I am producing a book with an index that has bolding to indicate photos, but the bolding was missed or changed in a random manner when imported. It was accurate until it reached E, then there were about 200 errors that had to be manually fixed. Here were my steps:
• Imported file word doc with Preserve Styles checked
• Search/repace for bold and italic with bold and italics Character Style
This should have caught all bold and italics and changed them to my style sheet – but, as mentioned, many were missed, without apparent rhyme or reason.
Attached is the corrected sample and an error version – repeated the process in ID 2024 to see if it would work, but it didn't work there either. I looked at the Word doc, and I could see no differences in the bolded text formatting.
This sort of error is troublesome, making my question other supposedly automated aspects of this app and costing time/money in workflow.
Thanks,
Gareth

InDesign Buttons in Interactive PDF Not Receiving Visible Focus When Tabbing
Product and Version: Adobe InDesign 20.3 (2025) & Acrobat Pro 2025.001
Steps to reproduce:
- Create a Button in InDesign using Buttons and Forms panel.
- Assign an action like "Go to Next Page" with event "On Release or Tap."
- Export as Interactive PDF with "Create Tagged PDF" and "Use Structure for Tab Order" enabled.
- Open in Acrobat.
- Tab through the document.
Expected result: Button should show visible focus indicator when selected by keyboard tabbing, to meet WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible.
Actual result: Button can be activated by Enter but shows no visible focus indicator. Rollover and Click states do not activate on tabbing. Hyperlinks, and other form fields like Checkboxes show proper focus highlighting, but not Buttons. This causes accessibility failure for keyboard users.
