1. Windows 10 / InDesign 19.5 x64 - Text Frame and Zoom Window Problems

   When attempting to use the Text Tool to creat a text frame by using the click / drag / release method either nothing happens (99% of the time), the text frame is invisble (I confirmed a text frame was created by viewing 'Undo Create Text Frame'), the release of the mouse pointer occurs on its own.

   Expected result: create a text frame in a single movement: left click the mouse on a location, drag while the mouse button is held down, release the button to create a text frame

   Actual result: 99% of the time nothing

   When using the click / drag / release method with the Zoom tool nothing happens.

   I believe the two observed problem are related.

   I have closed InDesign and renamed the InDesign Defaults file and reopened InDesign to create a fresh defaults file. No joy.

   I even purchased Adobe InDesign Classroom in a Book 2024 Release in hope that there woul be a clue to the problem there. The same problem exists using their lesson files.

   In the past I have never encountered this problem.

   My system:

   Intel Core i7 @ 3.41 GZ x64 / 16 GB Ram with plenty of free disk space
   Windows 10 Home 22H2 x64
   InDesign 19.5

2. Problema al usar la lupa en pantalla hdmi

   Indesign 19.5
   .Problema con la lupa: cuando uso indesign en la segunda pantalla (hdmi), cundo amplias hace una ampliación máxima y después no permite disminuir, tienes que encajar en pantalla para volver a ver el documento completo. Esto en la pantalla nativa del macbook pro no pasa.
   Este problema no pasa con otros programas de adobe como ilustrator o photoshop.

3. gradient color fill of many highlighted individual table cells can not performed

   There must be more controls of the filling methods of table cells:
   1. We must be able to select multiple many cells at once
   2. We must able to apply gradients to selected cells individually
   3. The whole table style including type of filling of individual cells, vertical and horizontal strokes, border, etc. must be saved in table styles and be applied totally to other tables
   4. each table cell must have individual path and 4 corner controls
   5. you must provide some elegant shapes of the table header

5. text color not showed in track change

   In the Story Editor, when Track Changes is activated, there are 3 types of visual indicators for change: text color, background color, and marking. In practice only the marking and the background color work, while the text color is always displayed in black. Attached is a screenshot.

6. Overridden page items are still linked to master pages

   Overridden items from parent pages are not really overridden, and may be silently deleted. Here is how:

   1. Make new spread document
   2. Go to Parent Page "A-Parent"
   3. Make a red box on left master page. Make a green box on right master page
   4. Add two pages to the document, page 2 and 3 is now a spread with a red and a green box
   5. Select the two pages in the pages panel. Right-click and choose "Override all parent page items"
   6. Move the green box from page 3 to page 2 by dragging it. Move the red box from page 2 to page 3.
   7. Drag the parent Page A to page 3.
   8. BOOM: the green box on page two is deleted. It should NOT be. The red box is kept. As it should.

   If you instead of moving the box, use cut and paste it will NOT be deleted. [works as expected]
   There are many ways to Override an item from its parent pages. All gives the same error.
   It will happen on any number of objects or groups.

   If an item is released from its master page it should not be affected by changes on the master page. I consider this a bug. This has been so for years.

7. Trouble having more than 1 INDD file open

   I can't open more than 1 INDD file at a time. I need to copy and paste from sections of one INDD into another. It will lock. You have to force it to quit. I lose time and my changes. My IT department at work said to contact Adobe. What should I do?

8. Items Dirty the Document When No Change To Doc Was Made

   InDesign File Dirties On Open With No Changes

   STEPS:
   1) Open the provided file called Dirty File.indd

   RESULT:
   The title bar shows an * in front of the name, indicating a change has been made to the file (it's "dirty") although no change was made. This is a problem,, as I wonder if my file is leaking memory or will become unstable if more items or pages are added to it.

   OTHER TEST #1:
   1. Open the file Dirty File.indd
   2. Open a new untitled InDesign document and save it as Doc2.indd
   3. Choose Window>Arrange>Tile All Vertically
   4. In Dirty File.indd from the Pages panel drag page 1 and drop it into the Doc2.indd window
   5. Save and close Doc2.indd
   6. Open Doc2.indd
   RESULT:
   Doc2.indd is good, it is NOT dirty

   OTHER TEST #2:
   1. Open the file Dirty File.indd
   2. Select all items on Page 1 and choose Edit > Copy
   2. Open a new untitled InDesign document and save it as Doc2.indd
   3. Choose Window>Arrange>Tile All Vertically
   4. In Doc2.indd, chose Edit > Paste In Place
   5. Save and close Doc2.indd
   6. Open Doc2.indd
   RESULT:
   Doc2.indd has an * next to its name in the title bar. The document IS dirty even though no changes were made

   UMMM it's an InDesign document problem, you need the .indd file to see the bug and get the problem data from the document. But your web page here doesn't allow .indd files to be uploaded to this bug submit page. So...please contact me to get the file I guess.

9. Every possible action on notes freeze or crash InDesign 2024

   I had this issue in a very simple one A4 page document that has a single text area filled with text and some not complicated header elements (including a placed image) in InDesign 2024 (v. 19.5) file.

   I created 4 notes with 1-2 words each.

   Anything I did with notes after that, the app freezes or crashes each time. Is that a known bug?

10. Pages of my 300-page file disappear

    Hello,

    I recently took over the creation of my company's general catalog (300 pages), which I had previously entrusted to another graphic designer, who transferred the file to me. Since I've taken over the design of the catalog, I've run into a lot of different problems:

    Sometimes, entire pages disappear. Sometimes, text and images are preserved and visible when I'm in “W”, but the background of the blank page is no longer visible. As a result, when I'm no longer in “W”, the page disappears completely.

    Also, sometimes images disappear, for no reason at all, or strange shapes appear next to my document.

    I've tried :
    - Copy and paste the disappearing pages into a new Indesign, that works.
    - I've gone looking for pages from our old catalog that I've put in the file that bugs, and these same pages end up having the same problem. (elements disappear...)
    - I've saved the file in an IDML and it works, only when I export it as a PDF, the initial problem persists.
    - I'm in the process of separating each chapter of our scale into separate Indesigns, let's see if it works

    Do you have any idea why these pages are disappearing?

    Ps: I'm on Windows
    Indesign Versions : V19.5

    4. Since I've updated to the latest version of Indesign 2024 (19.5), the creation of IDML (export and package) are extremly slow. When I have to assemble a lot of files, I get bogged down in production and lose a lot of time.

12. Test internal page hyperlinks in presentation mode

    I don't know if this can even be possible, but it would be great to be able to test internal page hyperlinks in presentation mode (command + W), so that I don't have to export the PDF every time to test them. It will be especially useful for interactive PDFs with 100+ pages.

14. Ordinals do not work

    The OpenType function „ordinals“ does not function correctly.
    When I type English ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on), the option „ordinals“ should move the text characters to the top. When the number is at the beginning of a line, it works. But if there’s another word before the number, it puts only the first character to the top and leaves the second on line. I tried with different fonts, and only with one of the fonts it works as expected. What’s wrong???

    1. create two pages with text anchors at the top. each page has two buttons, one leading the the other pdf (see files attached) each doc exported as Interactive PDF. In abode Acrobat (or any pdf reader) when you click the button it will not open the linked document.
    This feature does work in Indesign 19.3. But I would like to be able to update to the latest versions....

17. Recent files pulling in recently placed files instead of recent INDDs

    When right-clicking the Indesign icon in the taskbar, the recent files shown are all files I recently placed in docs, instead of indesign files I was actually working on. I definitely did not open these in indesign.

18. JPG and PDF export only exports part of file

    I have a huge document (164 x 44 in) that has a number of imported InDesign documents as well as multiple PDFs for a museum exhibit. When I export to PDF and JPG, only parts of it come through. Luckily, I only needed to export the components for print – the 164 x 44 doc was only used as a layout tool for the wall. But I wanted to report this bug. It exported fine until the central mural image was scaled up to size and converted to CMYK, so it may be an issue with memory, though I think it should still work.

    I am using InDesign 19.5 on an Apple M1 Max with 64 GB memory, Sonoma 14.4.1.

    The same thing happens on another doc that is 210x44, but I just uploaded this one.

    The ID file is 768 mb, so I've just provided screen shots. I'd be happy to upload the file if you'd like to investigate.

19. version 19.5.0.84 quits on open, OS ventura 13.1

    Indesign 2024 version 19.5.0.84, OS Ventura 13.1. It will open once, but after closing the app, and opening it the second time, it flashes the InDesign 'open screen' and then quits. The only workaround found is to uninstall and reinstall. I've been doing this for 6 mos, and it's getting old. We all pay for the software to work. I've been using Adobe products for decades and it seems it's worse now. What is the fix?

20. Almost all my settings get lost when ID updates or crashes
