1. V18.4-18.5 Text boxes shrinking fractional and hiding last line of text PLUS then 'over-set text' error message not flagging this problem up

   I sent a job to print and after it came back 3 text boxes had shrunk fractionally to hide the last line of text. When I then went to make a press-ready pdf, it didn't flag up this error by warning me of "over-set text", so I did not catch this problem in time.

   Please see attached files -

   My stage 5 of the document, and then the final artwork file for it, with the boxes highlighted.

   I didn't get any warning messages for 'over-set text' to flag this missing text up.

2. Panel flyout menus do not open on external displays/expanded desktops — they open only on primary display

   I keep all of my tool palettes on a secondary monitor on Mac OS (now Sonoma) running the latest version of InDesign.

   None of the flyout menus will open when the tool palettes are on a secondary display. However, I find if I drag the tool palette over to my Primary display, the flyout menus work again (until I drag them back to the external display).

3. Indesign Online Dashboard improvements - Custom URL, Google analytics, Fname direct to send clients

   Indesign is hands down the best software to design & create digital brochures with its advanced technology & features its impeccable. HOWEVER talking about the Online Dashboard System its not leading the industry.

   I've done my research and a lot of the online digital brochure creator websites are ahead.

   I will list below a few new ideas/features I'd love to see Adobe implement to put them back in the lead when it comes to the publishing feature.
   (Some of these ideas are already being done by the online companies)

   <> Custom URL, so it looks more professional to clients rather than it saying "Ind.Adobe" with loads of numbers following it.

   <> While on the subject of the URL, it would be fantastic if we could customise the cover photo/thumbnail rather than it showing the adobe logo, I'd like to show my brands logo. It would be a great feature for when we send the link in WhatsApp

   <> Better and more analytics rather than just the 3-4 basic ones. The more the better it really helps to understand as much as possible. (gender/location/where they found the link/social media and so much more)

   <> To go one better a collaboration to implement Google Analytics

   <> Name tags - (I don't actually know what this is called) I'm sure you've all seen it when setting up emails in mailchimp for example 'Fname', then it automatically inserts the clients name.
   It would be fantastic if this feature could be inserted inside the brochure, so the client feels like the brochure itself is personal to them.
   Then instead of the traditional 'Publish Online' button, it has a send to box and when you enter each clients name & email it automatically fills the name and sends the Custom URL link to that specific client.

   I think finally I'm done.

   I have so many ideas so anyone that works at Adobe if you're struggling for new features you can give me a call🤣

   Thank you and I hope other Indesign fans will see these features as benefits, I look forward to seeing them on the platform soon.

5. PDF Workflow shows syntax error in exported PDF Version 18.5

   I read that there was some Problems with PDF export since InDesign version 18.4. And i want to report that there are still issues with the latest version 18.5. Our Workflow reports syntax error in pdf and aborts procession. Its a full stop, no detailed error messages were shown. The only solution for us is to place the PDF again in older InDesign (17.4) and export a PDF from there.

6. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

   Hi,

   Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

   Please help me!

7. Wonky text on the Home Screen in InDesign OS Ventura

   This has been appearing since I updated to a new Mac Studio and InDesign 18.5 on OS Ventura. The text goes all weird on the Home Screen. I can't read what the document title is. There's been instances where the same file name appears twice also. It's annoying!

8. Bug ao exportar PDF Interativo

   Quando exporto pdf interativo, automaticamente ele insere links em urls, porém, quando a url ocupa duas ou mais linhas, ele insere apenas na primeira linha, tornando o link quebrado e sem funcionalidade. A única forma de resolver isso é colocando manualmente via ferramenta link. Tem com ajustar de forma que o Indesign consiga fazer a varredura do link, verificando se ele realmente funciona e criar automaticamente de forma correta? Obrigado.

9. Accepting PDF Comments does not insert the comments, only deletes the text

   ID 18.5 PC

   Importing PDF comments of the text replacement type (strikethrough), although it deletes the existing text, but does not insert the text of the comment in its place.

10. Autoplay Embedded Videos Glitching

    I embedded a number of youtube videos into my indesign file and published online. They are all on different pages and are set to autoplay. They also have "start" and "end" times on them. Everything is working perfectly, except that when I go to view the published document online, the videos randomly start to play when I'm not viewing the pages they are on. I can hear them and not see them, unless I find the page the video is playing from. I've tested this in Chrome and Safari and am running into the issue on both. I would be nice is the videos played only when I am on the page where they are embedded. 11. InDesign crashes/freezes when closing the application

    InDesign freezes when you try to Quit the application. InDesign cannot be quit, it has to Forced Kill.

    Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang. A few workarounds are listed at Fix crash issues with InDesign.

    We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

    We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, either submit the crash report(Refer to Submitting crash reports) to us or Contact Adobe support.

12. Data Merge, CSV file containing column header named 'table'

    A CSV file with a column header named 'table' will fail to import with 'Data Merge > Select Data Source.' No errors are given. The 'Data Merge' panel remains unpopulated.

    Changing the header to something else, e.g. 'Table', will work.

    Adobe InDesign 18.5 on Windows 10 and macOS Monterey. 18.4 behaves the same way.

14. New cross reference dialog: search bug

    May be this isn't a bug per se, but it's nasty. When having the "New cross reference" dialog open and with no particular paragraph being selected, you see lots of garbage in the list on the right side. If you search for a specific headline, you'll find it, but not being listed in its actual format, but with the page number attached. You might then think this is just for display, but no, if you add it that way, it adds the text of the cross-ref as shown in the list, with page number. Even if you selected a cross-ref format without page number.

    For me, this is a concept flaw.

15. frame background showing behind polygon that's been pasted into it

    Steps:
    - make a rectangular frame, give it a background color
    - make a polygon the same color as the page background, that intersects the edge of the frame
    - cut and paste-into the polygon into the frame

    Expected
    the combination perfectly simulates the appearance of subtracting the polygon from the rectangular frame, but in a way that preserves editability.

    Actual
    works imperfectly: a tiny sliver of the background is visible on the edge of the rectangular frame. this very thin line gets thickened by the "enhance thin lines" function on adobe reader (but is still visible without it, if you zoom in). that's a problem because I can't exactly go ask my end audience to go turn that off for optimal viewing.

16. Auto fit Frame Fitting Options Bugged

    As you can see in the example below the container selected is only 6 mm high if I crop it by -x amount, to have a white border around it, it does not do that consistently through all selected containers.

    With this container it crops a fraction of the actual number.

19. Metadata, text variables in Indesign

    Indesign don't insert Metadata (XMP) from the orioginal images downloaded from stock.adobe.com (as text variable); the downloaded image has to open in Photoshop and to »Save as«. Then the XMP-Metadata could be read by Indesign (as text variable).
