1. .INDD Mac OS Finder Preview STILL not working.

   The finder preview does not work and has not worked for some time. I had even updated my os to the latest version and there is still no finder preview?

2. Indesign deletes text after crash

   InDesign would occasionally crash and delete all text I have in linked text boxes. what is the root of this problem. I can't undo it and have to keep redesigning those text boxes. why is this happening

3. Screen Draws Bizarre Patterns

   This has been happening for the past several versions. Im using ID 2023 on a 27" 2019 31. Mhz iMac with 64GB. It runs a Raedon Pro 575X 4GB.

   While I am moving the document, sometimes these bizarre dark patterns form. Sometimes it happens when just an item is moved on the document. But it appears to be random. Scrolling off the page and back onto it seems to solve it.

   This only happens in InDesign. None of the other Adobe apps or other graphic apps have this issue. So it leads me to believe it is not the video card, but one specific program.

   I also own an M1 Mac Mini which runs the exact same software...but has no such issues. I keep hoping an update will fix this but it remains for the past two years...

4. eye dropper not working

   The eye dropper tool in InDesign, which I use constantly, is no longer working. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the program, resetting my workspaces, etc. What gives?

5. Adobe Caslon Pro: Glyph as bullet does not function

   InDesign version 18.2.1 (Windows 10 x64). I would like to use a glyph as a bullet (the opentype digit 3 of Adobe Caslon Pro - an acorn). In the paragraph style box for my "Bulleted list" style, I am trying to add the bullet. When I click "add" and then click "ok," a standard round black dot appears in my list of bullet characters to choose from. If I try to add my preferred glyph (or any of the other opentype glyphs from the font's set, for that matter), the program tells me: "The selected bullet already appears in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box with this font and style association. Specify a different font or style, or select a different bullet." I also cannot add the glyph as bullet manually in the lists window. In short, adding a glyph as bullet is not functioning. There has been extensive discussion of this issue on the Adobe Support Community. Many people have suggested numerous solutions, but none have worked. 7. Entire note is backlinked in ePub export

   In InDesign 18.2.1 when I create endnotes via Type/Insert Endnote and paste in the text I want in the note, the entire note becomes the backlink. Can't have external URLs in the note as the backlink overrides them.

8. 2-UP Vertical window mode creeps wider with every click

   1. Indesign 18.2.1.
   2. Open two documents and then select 2-UP vertical window mode
   3. I expect both windows to stay the same width that I have set when opening 2-UP vertical window mode.
   4. When using 2-UP vertical screen mode, the left hand window creeps wider by one pixel every time I click in the right hand window.

9. Dictionaries, specifically German

   The german dictionary in ID is weird. Many common german words it would mark as unknown, but the suggestions show a lot of rarely used ones. Well, when adding words to the dictionary, it can be confusing for the grammar checker to distinguish between verbs, adjectives and nouns if there is no definition for the word type. So, at least for German, but perhaps generally, give the user the option to define if the added word is a noun, adjective or verb.

   Example for confusion: "brücken". This is a verb ("brücken" -> to bridge), but also the plural of "Brücke" (bridge), but with lowercase. The grammar checker would suggest to capitalize the word when it's meant to be a verb. I would then define it once as verb in lowercase and once as noun with capital letter in the dictionary.

10. Converted linked InDesign document saved in last used folder, not folder where it lives

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Have an InDesign document with a linked InDesign document. That linked document is saved by an older version.
    2. Open linked document by Alt-double clicking.
    3. Save file. You are now presented with the last used folder, not the folder that the linked document lives in.

    This USED to work fine.

12. Gradient palette window is cutting off -- Show Options turned on

    Gradient palette not fully expanding after clicking "Show Options". Everything below the Reverse Gradient option is cut off and there's no way to expand the palette window to make edits to gradient bar. See attachment.

    Tried restarting computer and made sure InDesign is up to date (18.2.1)

    I should also note that this is an issue on multiple computers.

13. frozen

    The screen does not update/move when zooming or scrolling the pages. The rulers indicate that I am moving between pages in the document, but the screen stays frozen on one page. After clicking and opening menus a number of times, the screen eventually updates. This happens intermittently, on various documents, no matter the complexity/file-size. Indesign is up-to-date. (MacOS Big Sur 11.7.4)

14. Hover Scrolling Disabling

    PLEASE introduce an option to disable hover scrolling on selection. If I have selected a text box and want to scroll down to align options in Properties, I always end up changing the leading, language, font, etc. I don't know anyone that would want to use hover scrolling to make those changes. Maybe click and drag like the other apps would work. Please look into this issues as it has been years and this has not been fixed.

15. Wörterbuch InDesign Deutsch -2006 neue Rechtschreibung 18.2.1. x64

    Wenn ich die Neue Deutsche Rechtschreibung ab 2006 für meine Dokumente einstelle, springt die Einstellung beim Wort selbst (rechte Maustaste) jedes mal zurück auf die alte Rechtschreibung. Egal was ich versuche - diese Einstellung wird nicht im Dokument abgespeichert.

16. Words in placed document become bold after certain characters

    When we place text from a Word file, we always strip it of all existing layout. But for some reason there are some weird unicode characters that cause Indesign to make certain words bold... I'm not able to figure out why... you have a French text where a word starts with a e with an accent like ê and that word is suddely bold... even though in the Word file it isn't.

    This also happens with Italics... I once had a text that used transliteration for Ancient Egyptian that is in italic and often starts with a "Ankh" symbol: Ꜥ with the full hiëroglyph being translated as: Ꜥ-n-ḫ.

    Indesign will flip out on this... in the end we had to replace all the Ankh symbols for @ symbols, place the text to Indeisgn and switch them back.

    Also had it once for Greek text, where words randomly become bold or italic after you place them in Indesign.

    When these symbols are in the middle of words, it's fine, but when words start with these symbols, weird stuff tends to happen when you place them in Indesign. Has been doing that for years. It's weird.

17. Index entries not displaying

    Hi, I have InDesign version 18.2.1 and am working on the translation of my book. Since yesterday evening I can no longer update the index. It only shows some index entries instead of all of them. Could you please provide a solution? By the way, I attach here two screenshots.

18. eyedropper still not picking up font type style weight -- adds a stroke to outside or color to the text box.

    eyedropper not picking up font or style; it picks up color sometimes & stroke sometimes. it is glitchy to the max. unstable, unreliable. USED TO WORK. a long time ago...in a land far, far away.

    It generally succeeds picking up object styles. otherwise BIG FAIL regarding fonts, font colors, font weight. it misses completely.

19. Non-breaking hypens and column break in linked word file does not work in InDesign

    I have a word file linked to my InDesign document. However, it is not working as anticipated. Two examples:
    * non-breaking hyphens in the word document disappears in InDesign
    * manual column breaks in the word document becomes pages breaks in InDesign - I have tried to use a second text frame in the same page as a workaround, but the second frame remains empty (until moved to the next page).

20. Multiple copy paste functions

    I have been using the Indesign program for a long time. He has made very good progress. This is what I expect from you. We can only paste one copy with the copy paste command. It would be great if it could copy multiple texts separately. For example, when copy-pasting 3 or 5 different texts, you need to do each one by one. It would be much more practical if we could copy them all and name them like copy 1 copy 2 copy 3 and paste 1 paste 2 paste 3 options while pasting. I wish you good luck in your work. Halil Ermis
