1. Cursor continually freezes, Indesign auto shortens swatches pane

   Glitch happens at random intervals, but so frequently that it's becoming maddening. Right now it's happening every 30 seconds to a minute, seriously F'ng my workflow today.

   M1 MacBook Pro, occurs whether I'm using my Wacom tablet (often I blame this first). It seemed to have happened after the last updated, along with an accompanying issue where I have to continually reset my workspace if I disconnect/connect to an external monitor. If I don't reset my workspace, Indesign refuses to show any tool panels.

2. Welcome screen has a trypophobia trigger image

   The image in the top row, 2nd from the right, can be a visual trigger for people with trypophobia like myself. It is a small thing but something that can be easily fixed so I figured I'd write!

3. Why does ID now need new filetype with every yearly release?

   I don't remember ID needing a new filetype with every release in the past. A (perhaps cynical) part of me says new filetypes are designed to incentivize users to upgrade. This drive for new filetypes every year seems especially capricious when fundamental new ID features are few and far between over the past 5+ years. (Ex: one of the top billed features last year was renaming Master pages to Parent pages...)

   New filetypes with every release is a source of friction to my team, especially when several users work on a project and one or more suddenly find they can no longer open the .indd project. I'm sure there are reasons for new filetypes every now and then, I just wonder if they're needed every year.

5. .idlk files not recognized/ignored when .indd files are in a Dropbox directory

   InDesign 2023 v18.00
   .idlk files are not recognized when working from a shared Dropbox folder. This issue appears to be very extensive and well documented. While I understand the many different use cases (synced/not synced, not connected to the internet, etc..) It would just make sense for InDesign to check for .idlk files within Dropbox directories and let Dropbox/Users figure out the potenetial for syncing errors and find a solution when those issues arise.

   This causes very frustrating issues for collaborative teams.

7. trados idml version

   Hello!
   We export the idml file from indesign 2022. We must later open the file in Trados for its translation and it doesn't let us because it identifies it as a cs4 file. With indesign 2021 it also happens, but not with previous versions, with which Trados opens them correctly. Can you help us?

8. Magnetic layout - Snap to guides not accurate

   When placing an element (box) against a page grid - or guide line, the element is not placed exactly at the grid rulers. It's always slightly off. This problem occurs after an earlier update from InDesign. It doesn't matter if it's a new or an old document. We work with InDesign 18.1
   We produce a lot of magazines and also a newspaper where grid and content measurements must be accurate.

11. Page number truncated exporting to PDF (when using HarfBuzz and World-Ready Composer)

    Summary: When using HarfBuzz and the World Ready Composer, automatic fields such as the current page number are truncated to their first character when exporting to PDF.

    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    1. Enable HarfBuzz rendering mode. (Script: app.textPreferences.shapeIndicAndLatinWithHarbuzz = true;)
    2. Create a new document.
    3. Add a text frame.
    4. In the text frame, insert a marker for the current page number. (Type > Insert Special character > Markers > Current page number.)
    5. Set the paragraph justification to use Adobe World Ready Composer.
    6. Change the page numbering in some way so that the page number will have more than one character. e.g. Layout > Numbering & Section Options > Start at page 8, using roman numerals.
    7. Create a few additional pages, likewise each displaying the page number. (e.g. viii, ix, x, xi...)
    8. Export to PDF.

    Desired behavior: Page numbers appear as in InDesign. e.g. vii, ix, x, xi.

    Actual behavior: Only the first character of each page number appears. e.g. v, i, x, x

    Versions of InDesign tested: This happens in 17.4. It does not happen in 16.4.3.

12. Can't dismiss preferences if app is hidden. Mac m1 pro

    As in the title, Bug: Open preferences. Hide indesign. Can't dismiss preferences. This is reproducible.
    Solution: allow preferences to be dismissed (even) if app is hidden.

14. system prompts glitch out and bug the program

    So, sometimes when I get a prompt, that might be rare I got it once for now but still wanted to share it, so when I get a prompt sometimes, like a system prompt from Indesign like those ones that say some warning and have an ok button(basically a dialog box) so when I get a dialog box it glitches out, disappears but stays active and not clicked and thus you can't do anything in the program because the dialog is in focus so naturally until you click it all the options in the program are greyed out(almost all) including saving the document and the only fix is to restart it and lose my document( or progress) which is not a problem because it only appears when you launch the program so there is no progress to lose but it's still annoying

15. Mysterious page breaks

    Through several InDesign versions there is a problem with unintended page/column breaks. The bug is discussed in this forum thread:

    The workaround to remove Keep options and Balance ragged lines isn't a good one, I really need those options in a lot of my styles.
    Sometimes it's enough to type a space at the end of the paragraph before the mysterious break for everything to pop back. This bug is a huge problem in collaboration with our InCopy clients who are not experienced users.
    The bug is currently frequently encountered in both ID 17.4 and 18.0, but have been there for many years/versions.
    I can't share any screen shots/videos since I'm working with sensitive information.

17. InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Problem with font Latino URW Regular Italic

    InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Downloaded Adobe Latino URW fonts from Adobe fonts site - The Regular Italic shows up as Italic in Windows fonts and Word, the others are OK. When placing Word document into InDesign, get missing font because InDesign does not recognize Latino URW Italic, it wants Latino URW Regular Italic. It is a font naming issue. After removing font, restarting computer, and reloading, problem persists.

18. widows and orphans at split footnotes

    With split footnotes, despite the paragraph option "Do not separate lines" - "At the beginning/end of the paragraph" (2 lines), there are widows and orphans!

19. Copy and paste impossible between inDesig and photoshop

    Hi everybody,

    Since this morning, copy and paste between inDesig and photoshop is crashed. Things are going fine between illustrator and photoshop, so I have to coping in inDesign and pasting into illustrator, and them do it so in photoshop.

20. I want to use the Japanese ver. InDesign with English UI.

    I don't understand why some features like Ruby Text are only available in the Japanese version. Why can't we just change the language?

    I did find a work-around to install the Japanese version and change the UI to English, but if I do that, all the hotkeys disappear like CTRL+C.
