Type library is not automatically created by CC2020 installation. Error 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)
Extensions and scripts halting or crashing after installing CC2020, due to a missing type library.
Our customers report errors after updating to CC2020, and I got the same error when I tried. Our script make a halt at a DoScript call, with this error: 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)
After starting InDesign CC2020 "AS ADMINISTRATOR", a missing type library is obviously created: the message and error disappears after doing that once.
It was not enough for my user just to have administrator privileges on my computer and in the domain, I had to explicitly start…8 votesThe fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign release 16.2.1

Incorrect replacement of special characters in hyperlinks while exporting to interactive PDF
In InDesign, the special characters in hyperlinks are converted while exporting as interactive PDF differently depending on the platform (Windows or Mac) and the type of hyperlink and are thus made unusable.
If the hyperlink replaces a text without further intervention in the document, special Characters are sometimes incorrectly replaced.
The replacement is different depending on how the hyperlink is used in the document:
- text that is a hyperlink
- Assigned hyperlink to a text
- buttonIn addition, Mac and Windows export result in further differences.
So far I only have tested the letters äüö, but cannot rule…

Character style has trouble spanning more than one line
It used to be that InDesign had no trouble when a character style ran more than one line. From some time, including InDesign 16.2.1, if a character style is applied to a string of text that starts on one line and continues to the next line, for example the last few words on a line and the first few words on the next line, InDesign will force all the text with that Character Style onto the next line, and space on the text on the previous line to span the entire line.
However, if you don't use a Character Style…1 vote -
variable font using no font style after PDF export for fillable form
When using a variable Font (Acumin from Adobe Fonts) for a text field in a fillable form it isn't using any font style when exported to PDF.
Static fonts act as expected.

I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes
I am not a cool millennial but I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes once there are several hundred pages and changing the master pages doesn't alter the actual position of the text boxes. Can I agree with the comments attached below -- to you Adobe company people -- don't **** off loyal users who were using Adobe before the millenials were born -- PLEASE STOP taking away features!!!!! I have recently updated to ID2021. Am I still going to have this bug -- as I now…

page range for publishment in 'share for review' is set by last print/export job
When sharing for review, the published document can be limited to a certain page range, because it takes that setting from the last print/export job. The only workaround is to first reset that range in the print/export window. Then publish for review to see all of the pages.
Being able to select what pages to share (or not) would be a nice feature in the 'share for review' interface. This way, I would not have to make versions, separating artwork ready for review, and artwork that is not.

InDesign (16.2.1) Keyboard shortcuts stop working after mac goes to sleep
If my Macbook Air M1 goes to sleep with InDesign running, on waking the keyboard shortcuts no longer work (Space to drag, Option to duplicate etc). The only way to restore the functions is to reboot, after which it's fine again until it goes to sleep again.
Has anyone managed to find a fix for this? Resetting the preferences makes no difference and it's not a 3rd party software either, I've tested both possibilities and the fault still remains.

When selecting an object and adding color, either when accidentally creating a stroke color or undoing an unwanted change, the pane becomes unresponsive The app continues running but the color selection pane becomes unusable. Restarting the application restores normal usage.

automatic resizing of text frames doesn't work properly with text variables
I have a text frame containing just a single text-variable. The text frame is set to horizontal size adjustment. If the varibale is shorter than the text frame then the frame is resized properly. If the variable is longer the text is being squeezed together. The frame stays as big as it was before.

InDesign 16.0.2 exports improper TAGS for "lists" (bullets)
The InDesign source file, which we use annually to produce a report, is now exporting all lists (bullets) with individual <P> tags and not as a grouped (nested) list of <L> tags.
Prior to the upgrade to InDesign 2021 (v. 16.0.2), the source file exported proper <L> tags. The same file, now converted (saved) as InDesign 2021 (v.16.02) has bad tags for bullet/list formatted items.
V. 16.0.2 gives LESS ADA 508 compliancy on the export than the prior 2020 version.

pages shuffle
Indesign 16.2.1
When trying to move spreads around in the pages panel when small thumbnails are used and "allow document pages to shuffle" turned on, I'm unable to move them in between spreads because there's not enough room for the cursor – I'm only able to attach them to either side of an existing spread.
Turning the thumbnails to medium or larger alleviates this problem.

Issues with document previewing since installing InDesign update (16.2.1)
Hi, I'm operating a late 2013 27-inch iMac with 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 processor. Currently running MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
Since installing the latest InDesign update (16.2.1) I've experienced various document preview issues:
- images that are contained within circular or other non straight-edged image boxes are not displaying at all.
- I get either a black box displaying or no box/frame at all. The frame is there because when I hit Select All I can see it but the image simply won't display at all, whatever the Appearance setting is on.
- However, if I create a JPEG or…1 vote -

textframe loses focus
Since having my computer upgraded to Catalina (10.15.7), InDesign (both 14.0.2 and 16.1) loses focus when I click off of a text frame. I’ve attached a video made in 16.1.
When I click off a graphic frame, behavior is normal—I can immediately click another element on the page. But when I click off a text frame, note how the Swatches panel disappears and I must click again on the page so InDesign regains focus so that I can then select another element on the page.1 vote -
Printing a document with variable fonts garbles them
(I sent test fonts to Josh Hadley at Adobe yesterday, i.e. Aktiv Grotesk VF)
- Select variable font from the menu (e.g. Aktiv Grotesk VF)
- Select world-ready composer
- Select a couple different instances from the drop-down or select an instance via the slider (e.g. Black, Bold, Regular, Light) and set some text in each
- Print the page from InDesign on a PostScript printer
See the attached image. What should happen is that the repeating blocks of text should be set in the different instances you selected in step 3. They are replaced by a random font instead, only the first instance…
