1. Nested anchored tables are tagged as artifacts in PDF

   1. Adobe InDesign, v.16.4
   2. Create three text frames, with a table in the third. Anchor the frame with the table into the second frame, then anchor the second frame into the first. Style and create Articles for an accessible PDF. Export to an Interactive PDF.
   3. Table would appear tagged and in same order as it was anchored in the INDD file.
   4. Table is set as an artifact and does not appear in the tag tree at all.

4. inDesign 16.1 - New version(s) do not keep color settings for documents

   Just one more thing to check EVERY time I look at the document.

   Reverts to ---- Emulate Adobe inDesign 2.0 CMS Off

   ISSUE
   A. Even after changing the Color Settings in an open document when I switch apps and come back the Colors Settings have reverted ---- Emulate Adobe inDesign 2.0 CMS Off ---- this is really, really annoying.

   B. Opening a document that had been saved in the current version - the Color Settings did not save with the document -

   ---

   I just made my regular preference without a document open - quit the program reopened -- the Color Settings defaulted back to the Adobe 2.0....

   HOWEVER that time the document I had switched and saved kept the Color Settings.

   Just one more thing to check EVERY time I look at the document.

5. Rechteck Rahmen

   Es ist sehr mühsam in InDesign den Rechteck-Werkzeugrahmen zu aktivieren. Es funktioniert nur noch, wenn man exakt auf den Rahmen klickt. Klick in Table funktioniert nicht mehr. Das erschwert den Arbeitsablauf und nimmt viel Zeit. Bitte um Korrektur. Danke

6. auto page numbering does not work with auto-size text box

   The auto-sizing text box should resize depending on number and not the 'marker character'
   I'm pretty sure it used to work that way.

7. space bar short cut for Hand tool NOT WORKING

   usually when I have problem in one Adobe product, it is the same problem in all (Illustrator and Photoshop)... when it goes away in one, it goes away in all. Something is triggering it, but I can't reproduce it at will... just sucks when it happens

8. Saving postscript goes to wrong folder

   Indesign 2022 17.0 is saving postscript files to the wrong folder. It saves to the last folder that a postscript was created in rather than the folder the document was opened from. I've tried resetting preferences but that did not help.

10. Disable cross-references

    InDesign is far too slow when you have too many cross-references in a single document - and by too many I mean not many at all (I have 30 in one of mine, and the document grinds to a halt all the time). Whilst opening every single document that is references helps a bit, this is far from a satisfactory solution. At a minimum it should be possible to disable cross-references whenever you want, to avoid the performance hit. It would also be a good idea to fix the cross-references issue completely, so that cross-references are not constantly being updated all the time.

12. Saving a document

    There's a strange problem when I try to save a document in InDesign. It doesn't happen every time but it's reoccuring and quite annoying. When I try to type something in the "save as" field, all the characters change as if Cthulhu has taken over the system. The only way to be able to save is to cancel and try again until it doesn't happen. This problem has only occured in the Adobe Indesign 2021 version.

13. Text formatting can break backlinking endnote texts to endnote refs when exported to PDF (Print)

    Hi together,
    to explain the issue:

    Sometimes backling from endnote text to endnote reference number will not work.

    To make it work at all I found the following minimum requirements for PDF export:

    PDF Export (Print)

    Compatibility: Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)

    [x] Create Tagged PDF

    [x] Hyperlinks enabled

    Even with that sometimes only linking from the endnote reference number to the endnote text will work, but not backlinking from the endnote number in the endnote text to the reference in the main text.

    What I found:

    If you want linking back from the endnote number at the start of the endnote text you have to be careful with formatting of that endnote number which in fact is a special character.

    WHAT WORKED:

    The endnote is using a paragraph style without any specialities. No overrides, no character styles applied:

    RESULT: No issue with linking back and forth between endnote reference number and number in the endnote text.

    Now I had the idea to format that special character, the number that starts the endnote text with a character style.

    RESULT: Linking from the endnote reference number to the endnote text worked. BACKLINKING DID NOT WORK.

    WHAT BROKE THE BACKLINKING:

    [1] Character style applied through a GREP Style

    [2] Character style applied directly as formatting

    [3] Properties directly applied as overrides without a character style

    WHAT FINALLY WORKED:

    [4] Character style applied as nested style through the applied paragraph style:

    Character style to 1 tabulator character

    I did not test on to eliminate other factors.

    Maybe one of the used properties are the real culprit?

    What I defined in that character style and also tried to apply as character override was:

    Character width and height: 70%

    Baseline Offset: 2 Pt

    Fill Color: "C=100 M=0 Y=0 K=0"

14. [ID-4222229]Exporting to ePub (reflowable) when document has endnotes containing hyperlinks causes InDesign to hang

    Version of Adobe InDesign: 15.1.2 / macOS 10.15.6

    Steps to reproduce the issues: When exporting a document with endnotes containing hyperlinks to ePub (reflowable), InDesign hangs and needs to be force quit. Have tested removing all hyperlinks to tests, and document exports correctly. Have tested putting hyperlinks outside of endnotes and document exports correctly. The bug is specific to hyperlinks which are part of the endnote text.

    Expected result: Successful export with endnotes reciprocally linked to text, and hyperlinks in endnote text active to respective URLs.

    Actual result: InDesign hangs and needs to be force quit.

15. PDF Export causing font/item misalignment

    There seems to be an issue caused by Exporting PDFs created by Steinberg Dorico. The expected result can be seen in the file:

    Hancock - Organ Album AJ - Toccata PDF from Dorico no issues

    look at measures 25 and 31 for comparision to

    Hancock - Organ Album AJ - Toccata PDF from inDesign issues

    there is a clear misalignment of stems with noteheads and tails. This only happens when you Export out of inDesign, the PDF created by Dorico is as it should be.
    Any idea why this is happening and can you do anything about it?

17. After changing workspace the extension panels become huge

    After changing workspace the extensions panels contents become huge. Clicking on anything in the panel does not work. Turning the panel off and on, changing workspace several times does not help. Only restarting the application makes the panel the standard size (zoom). Today I updated the application to the latest version, but the previous version also had the problem.

    This is terribly annoying because I have to turn indesign off and on dozens of times during the day.

18. Fonts not copying when packaging a file

    I've been having issues ever since the update of InDesign 16.4. The issues have been fonts copying over when packaging a file. It's on all computers MacBook (personal) and two iMacs (work). Projects have been different but have same issue. So far I've only gone the manual route to retrieve the fonts but main problem is still ongoing. The fonts aren't from type kit or have certain permission restraints. These are purely installed fonts that I've had zero issues in the past been using them for the past 2yrs and ever since the update they no longer copy over. So I'm not too certain as to why I keep having the packaging error of copying the fonts.

19. Stylistic Sets do not work alongside feature variations

    Hi there! There seems to be a bug when applying OpenType Stylistic Sets to fonts that have feature variations. This has occurred with multiple fonts produced by me and colleagues, so I have made a simplified test font that you can use to duplicate the issue.

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    - select variable font with feature variation
    - use variable font slider or select named instance to apply feature variation
    - apply opentype stylistic set that affects same glyph as feature varation

    Expected result: Alternate glyphs from Stylistic Sets are applied to font.

    Actual result:
    - Selecting alternates from tooltip does nothing
    - Applying stylistic set to selection does nothing
    - Contextual menu says “OpenType properties are not available” even though they are

20. Paragraph border and shading error with anchored objects

    when anchored objects (such as column Text or line numbers) are anchored in a Text using the options "Paragraph border" and "paragraph Shading" the borders and Shades will "randomly" disappear, or new border-lines will appear (when more then one paragraphs are merged, the lines always appear between the different styles, even though they work fine again when the object is de-anchored). Sometimes the appearance doesn't change when an object is anchored, but when the anchored object is edited (for example, when the size of the anchored object is changed).

    This is reproducable on my Windows 10, using InDesign 15.1.4.
    Steps:
    - create a new document
    - create a paragraph styles using paragraph borders/ paragraph shading
    - create 1 or 2 more styles, based on the previously defined style
    - create an object-style using "benutzerdefiert" (individual?) - positioning
    - anchor 2 or 3 objects in the shaded text/ the text with borders

    The problem also sometimes appears when an object is anchored in a text using Paragraph border/ shading, when text anywhere else in the same story is edited.

    This issue continues to be seen in a PDF, which makes it really hard to have a stable document using this paragraph style options.
