3. Margins cannot be adjusted via the Document setup window

   Version: 16.3.2
   When trying to change the margins via the Document setup (alt+command+p) dialogue, nothing happens; the margins don't change. The only way is to go through Layout > Margins and columns...

4. Two finger trackpad zoom in OSX is broken

   I use Option + Two Finger Up Or Down on the track pad to zoom in InDesign.

   While it seems to zoom in fine, it almost never zooms out properly. Often when I try and zoom out it zooms in further.

   This behaviour works just fine in other Adobe apps such as Illustrator.

   I'm running Mac OSX Catalina 10.15.7 on a 2019 16" Macbook Pro.

5. Fonts' OpenType features not working in Composite fonts in InDesign

   When using any Hebrew font in InDesign, the diacritics (nikuds) are displayed in their correct location. This location is set within the fonts by using OpenType features such as ccmp (for glyph substitution) and mark (for glyph positioning). InDesign recognizes and applies these features.

   When this font is used as part of a Composite font in InDesign, the result is quite different. It seems like the ccmp feature is honored but the mark feature is not.

   The diacritics shift and the length of the text increases. Some of this fluctuation can be mitigated by Diacritics Position feature in InDesign however this feature only works on a paragraph level and applies the correction to ALL diacritics uniformly whereas the whole point of the OpenType feature is to adjust diacritics on a character level.

6. Screen Error

8. PNG visible on acrobat reader but white on firefox, chrome or printed

   I placed a PNG in front of a direct tone color and export my page as a PDF. The png is shown when I open it on Acrobat Reader, but he is white when I open it on firefox or chrome. The PNG is invisible when I print it too.

9. Custom menus created by script stay after relaunching InDesign

   There's a bug in InDesign 2022 where custom menus created by a script stay after relaunching InDesign.

   How to reproduce:

   -Run this AppleScript script which will create a menu titled Custom Menu:

   tell application "Adobe InDesign 2022"
   tell menu "$ID/Main" to make submenu with properties {title:"Custom Menu"}
   end tell

   -Relaunch InDesign

   The menu Custom Menu will still be there. While it should NOT be there unless explicitely created by a script again.

   The only way to remove it is to run a separate script that specifically removes the menu.

   It's a big problem for third-party software: for example, where users remove a startup script that created the menu - but the menu doesn't go away.

   There's a bug in InDesign 2022 where custom menus created by a script stay after relaunching InDesign.

   How to reproduce:

10. Adding file extension after first letter of file name when saving a new document

    When I save a new document, the default file name is "Untitled-1.indd" (or .psd or .ai). If I want to call the file "ProjectA.indd" when I start typing and press "P" all creative cloud apps add the file extension after the first letter then continue with what I am typing. So what should be "ProjectA" turns into "P.inddrojectA." If I only type "Pr" I get "P.inddr." If I start to delete and remove the r and the second d, it will add the file extension again so I end up with "P.ind.indd." If I delete back to the "P" and start typing again it will work and I can type "ProjectA" without InDesign adding .indd in the middle. Also, if after I get "P.inddr" if I highlight the entire filename and delete, I can type "ProjectA" without InDesign adding .indd in the middle. The same thing happens in Illustrator and Photoshop. Is there a fix for this? I am on a Mac running Monterey 12.0.1.

11. Transparency from PSD or PNG not showing in InDesign 17.0.1

    Since InDesign updated to v17.0.1 (from the v17 before this), transparency on pngs and psd's has stopped working. Instead it drops in a black background and messes with the colours.
    The image on blue shows how it should work (using a workaround dropping it onto white and setting the transparency to darken), the other is with the PNG or PSD imported with transparency. It was fine yesterday before updating.

12. keyboard shortcuts not working

    2017 iMac Retina 5K 27", running Big Sur 11.5.2, InDesign 2021.

    Suddenly, without warning or explanation certain keyboard shortcuts have stopped working.

    The T shortcut to change to type tool flicks to type tool and then back to original tool (eg Selection tool).

    Hand tool on space bar does not work and zoom on space bar + cmd does not work.

    For some time now, you can't hide ID when there are no documents open by using cmd–H.

    I have been using ID since almost the very beginning and these have always worked. As I'm paying a monthly sub for this very expensive but necessary software you need to get it right every time before release. These are shortcuts that I use as second nature but are now for some reason faulty.

    This isn't really an idea, it's a complaint.

    Background colors (that should just be white) go crazy on tables and other pages until InDesign is quit and re-opened. There's no specific action that seems to trigger the issue, and it appears intermittently. This is happening on version 16.4.0.54.

14. Transparent PNG Export generates dark lines in the half transparent shadow regions

    InDesign 16.2.1

    Trying to export transparent PNG files from InDesign from a page with a transparent PSD source, results in PNG files with dark lines in the shadow region of the exported png.

    When deselect or select the "simulate overprinting" checkbox before export, the lines may disappear and the exported png is as expected.

15. Wrong use of German term »Nutzen« in the PDF export options dialogue

    The term »Nutzen« is not used correctly as this usually refers to how many units of a design you put onto a printing sheet.

    What it should read in the options is simply »Doppelseite« or »Doppelseite fortlaufend« or »Doppelseite (Deckblatt)« or »Doppelseite fortlaufend (Deckblatt). The term »Nutzen« should be omitted completely.

18. Unable to create text box and select text

    InDesign 2021 version: 16.2.1.102

    Drag when using Type tool -> no text box create
    Using Type tool, Double click the text inside a text box -> unable to select the word
    Using Type tool, drag within the paragraph inside a text box -> unable to select the texts, instead will move the whole text box

19. Share for Review from InDesign Book 'artifact' error

    When I try to share chapters from a book for review the Share for Review either doesn't function beyond clicking the 'Share for Review' 'Create New Review' or populates the details with the wrong file name and then fails to proceed (giving an 'artefact' error.

    I solved it by doing the chapters one at a time with no other chapters open and the InDesign Book closed - but it took me a few hours to work this out.

    Even when doing the chapters separately their Title Field of the Share for Review document is sometimes the previous document's name and I have to go back a step or use the delete review copy option to get a fresh (and correct) start.

    I'm on a 2015 MacBook Pro, Mac OSX Catalina 10.15.7, Using InDesign CC 16.1

20. save as adds extra .indd extension

    If you choose "save as" and delete the default Untitled file name, the dialogue box automatically adds an extra .indd extension.
