  1. Scrolling is glitchy or nonfunctional in InDesign 2024

    Scrolling with a mouse (not the trackpad) through a document vertically or horizontally works, but not always. Zooming in by holding Alt and then scrolling is unusable because trying to zoom in causes everything to zoom all the way out, and continuing to try to zoom in only works sometimes.

    I have tried this with multiple mouses, and the issue does not occur in any other program, including InDesign 2023.

    In the attached video, I am holding Alt and trying to zoom in.

  2. Image Frame distorts with customization

    I'm trying to change the width and height of an image (cropping), and it used to never change the image within the frame. Now whenever I change the frame, the image inside changes proportion instead of cropping. Very frustrating.

  3. High Cpu Usage indesign 2021-2022-2023-2024 versions...

    Hello, unfortunately I have this problem too, it constantly uses 30% of the processor when idle, I tried everything, but the problem is completely related to the new indesign versions. Adobe has not made a fix on this issue yet, when will you fix it, Adobe?

    I never experienced this problem in old versions. This problem is valid for 2021-2022-2023-2024 versions.

    I tested by installing all Indesign versions on my computer and found that the only problematic versions were versions 2021 and above.

    From the attached images, you can see the CPU usage of the 2020 version and the 2021…

  4. open file multiple times

    19.0
    InDesign will open the same file multiple times. In the past, if you have a file open and accidentally double-click the file in the finder to open that same file, it'll just open the window that is already open. In the 19.0 update, it'll open multiple versions of the same file (only if the file is from a version pre 19.0 – pre-converted), which can create issues if changes are made to one file (and they aren't updated in the other). Version control nightmare!

  5. Installing InDesign 2024 wiped all my preferences and workspaces

    Just as the title said - preferences and workspaces wiped, despite ensuring the checkbox 'import exisiting preferences' was turned on during install.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.0.1.205). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

  6. Super heavy single page indesign file; add a purge button

    This single page file without any image or vector has 398 MB. How is it possible?

    I found a solutionL I exported a IDML file and then opened it on ?Indesign and saved a new INND. It worked.

    But it still: Indesign needs a "purge" button.

  7. Fonts only showing in drop down, cannot type them directly in

    InDesign 18.5

    Issue:
    Highlight text
    Click on the font Window (mine is displayed on right)
    begin to type in installed or adobe font, font does not populate

    When I type in a font, I expect to be able to populate it

    Wen I try to finish typing the font in the searchbar, it doesn't let me type in the next letter and just gives me a different font. Some fonts don't show up or do once and never again, yet are in font dropdown. This includes both installed OTC and installed Adobe fonts.

  8. Saving activates the scale tool next time…

    I've been encountering this for some time now. Might seem insignificant but can actually hinder workflow. When closing one InDesign file if the modal dialog appears and I hit 'S' on the keyboard to Save (rather than clicking) the next time I open an InDesign file the scale tool has become active. As I never use the scale tool, this can be a bit annoying if I don't spot it straight away

  9. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

    Hi,

    Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

  10. "Suppress Text Wrap When Layer Is Hidden" not working

    InDesign CC most current version 18.5
    1. Add text frame
    2. Add overlapping object
    3. Add text wrap to object
    4. Set layer option to "Suppress Text Wrap When Layer Is Hidden"
    - Expect that text wrap will be suppressed when I hide the object layer that has text wrap applied
    - Text wrap is still applied when the object layer is hidden, whether applying the layer option first or last, creating a new document and starting over, or trying each text wrap option

  11. Error on Save : "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged."

    While using In Design 18.2.1 on macOS 13.5.2 I am getting the above error (See attached screenshot) whenever I try to save a new file or save as an existing file on an NFS share. The server is not at fault here, as I'm able to Save new files from Adobe Illustrator for instance.

  13. InDesign not responding, unable to close when a file is closed

    I am using InDesign (18.5), whenever I closed one file the whole InDesign became not responding, unable to close, open new file, or do any at all. I have to open task manager to force close every time.

    Is this an issue with the new version or others. Please help.

  14. Cannot paste buttons

    My version of InDesign (18.5 for Mac) will not allow me to copy and paste buttons correctly. The pasted button shows up in the buttons list, but it is not visible or selectable.

    InDesign 18.5 will not start/open - need to uninstall & reinstall everyday.

    I have tried
    - switching off Connect Fonts (Suitcase)
    - restarting computer and opening InDesign as first app
    - opening through double clicking on a .indd file

  16. Red shapes appear on Indesign Pages

    • Indesign 18.3 (but problem has persisted from earlier versions)
    • Mac Book Pro with M1 Max running Ventura 13.4.1 (but problem has persisted from earlier versions)

    This bug has persisted since I upgraded to my current MacBook. When dealing with (usually large) documents, strange red shapes appear on the pages in . Zooming in or out or changing the view or Display Performance settings can get them to disappear, but they eventually return.   17. InDesign failing to start up

    I'm experiencing an issue where InDesign is repeatedly crashing during start up. The only fix I have found is unistalling and reinstalling which fixes the issue temporarily, but I am having to do this multiple times daily.

  18. relink with file extension bug

    Relink File Extension is not working. This bug seems persistent so I can only assume not too many people are reporting it, but it's slowing down my productivity. When I try to use Relink File Extensions and choose the option to link images that have the .psd extension rather than a .jpeg I get the error message "Failed to find 1 links in new folder.   19. Drag copying to move the duplicate object no longer shows the original during the move.

    Bug, or simply changed way to do this with modifier keys? I've noticed that lately when I drag copy an object to its new position, the original vanishes during the drag. Often I need to drag it and still see the original while dragging for an exact placement in relationship to the original being copied. Has that vanished from InDesign? If not, I've not been able to find a list of modifier keys for drag copying variations.

  20. Find similar image

    On the latest update 18.4, the find similar image function is not working like before. I've even used an image from the Adobe stock library and it cannot find its own image. With the last version, this feature worked as expected.

    To reproduce this issue, place an Adobe stock image in InDesign, right-click on it and choose "find similar image".
