1. Adjust Styles when you Adjust Layout

   Discovered that when you use the new adjust layout option to change a document from an A3 to and A4 (for example), the character and paragraph styles already applied when it was A3 do not change to reflect the new text size that has been adjusted when going to A4. So when you go to apply a style to a new piece of text, the formatting is wrong. It also removes the styles that have been previously applied to some of the text. I have searched for a work around and cannot locate one.

   Could you please add an option/check box in the adjustment layout window that you can apply the text size adjustment to styles? This will save a lot of formatting time, especially if you're in a work environment where you are producing presentations and portfolios constantly, coping text, importing tables and need to apply styles, etc.

2. Chrome OS support please!

3. Make Libraries Panel Drag & Drop When Adding

   Hi There,

   I only use libraries for one client but am quickly discovering it's not that intuitive. It's great that libraries now isn't the default but when you need it, why can't you drag everything into it?

   Obvious examples...
   - You can't drag colours
   - You can't drag text styles (paragraph or character)

   And regarding text, if you drag a text box, dragging it back should add the textbox with text etc. If you drag a text style onto an existing text box, it should only apply the style etc.

   Just let us add anything to the library via drag and drop - right?

4. Interactive features retained when PDFs placed in InDesign

   When PDFs are placed into an INDD layout, and then the layout is exported to a new PDF, all of the interactive features in the 1st (or source) PDF are removed:

   -- Hyperlinks in the source PDF
   -- Buttons in the source PDF
   -- Accessibility tags and functions in the source PDF

   It's as if the PDF is treated like a dead graphic. All of the interactive features built into it are lost and must be recreated manually in Acrobat.

   Two excellent examples of how disastrous this is for designers:

   1) When a magazine places a PDF of an advertiser's ad, the hyperlinks to the advertiser's website are lost and must be recreated manually in the final PDF. For a magazine with dozens or hundreds of ads, this is a helluva lotta labor to correct the URLs.

   2) When making accessible PDFs, a designer might place a PDF of the president's letter into the layout. The source PDF's text is accessible and tagged, but once the final PDF is exported, that's lost and the president's letter is a dead graphic. That type of item can't have Alt-text on it (Alt-text usually is limited to 200 characters). The real solution is for the letter to remain as live, tagged text in the final PDF.

   SERIOUS shortcoming in the InDesign-to-PDF workflow.

5. Make All Styles Explicit and Accessible

   Currently we can open a pallet for Object Styles, Paragraph Styles, Character Styles, Table Styles, Cell Styles, and of course Style Packs.

   We need to be able to access TOC styles, Caption Styles, Image Styles, Effect Styles, Animation Styles, Group Styles, Text Frame Styles, Image Frame Styles, Fill Styles (swatches), Stroke Styles, .Basically, anything that contains a defined set of characteristics that can be interchangeably applied to various objects..

   That is to say that styles must be interchangeable with other like styles. For example, you can apply any paragraph style to any paragraph. Every paragraph style will work on every paragraph. The same should be true for all styles in context.

   In addition to having these styles explicitly declared and accessible where we can apply them to the object they are associated with, we need to be able to export a style table and generate a CSS Stylesheet or JSON/XML equivalent.

   P.S. We already know that you have predefined style objects for TOC, Fill Styles (swatches), because you can synchronize them. Add Captions and you are halfway there.

6. Endnotes placement needs to be adjusted

   The way books work is that the notes to a chapter fall immediately after the end of the text, not on a new page. Please change this feature so that we can force the notes to a new page if that's how we want them, but they normally fall after the end of the text. Other than that, the dynamic endnotes feature will be nice when someone decides to add or delete notes.

7. Equivalent to Ai's 'Hide Edes' to hide selection higlighting

   When choosing a color or a font for text, it's very hard to judge the appearance when the selected text is hilighted/inversed.
   A function like Illustrator's 'Hide Edges' (cmd-H) would be of great help, to invisible select text.

8. Split Columns doesn't work correctly yet

   If I use the option "Split column" all the paragraphs at the bottom of the page aren't splitted, the option doesn't work correctly (1.png), except when the text boxes are closed manually (2.png), as you can see from the attached files.
   I don't understand the utility of not splitting two columns at the bottom of the page when this property is selected in the options.

9. Paragraph Styles Larger Tab Markers

   I use windows 11 with a display settings at 125% scale and monitors set to 3440x1440 resolution. I use a magnified mouse cursor as well. When using the Paragraph Styles Tab feature, the tab stop markers are so small it makes it very difficult to select them to adjust their position. I would like to see the User Interface designed with larger tab stop markers or a dialogue box that allows for input of the left align and hanging indent settings.

10. We need an Adobe product that creates charts better than a MS product!

    Years have gone by without Adobe recognizing that InDesign is used for a LOT of annual reports that are chart-heavy. Built-in functionality in Illustrator is appalling at best, then to have to break a chart apart and literally re-type every label for potentially 100+ charts for a report is ridiculous. We need the ability to control the look and feel of a wide variety of charts natively (with the ability link to various data sources -- spreadsheet, odbc, etc.).

    Alternatives?
    Use Excel and export as a PDF and link it. However edits are onerous when you have to change the excel doc, re-output the pdf, and update the link. Text colors/sizing are never quite correct (let alone needing to make a change document-wide -- FORGET ABOUT IT), alignment never seems to be exact, and it's just a poor approach, honestly.

    Another alternative (even recommended by admins here) is an expensive font that only uses whole numbers up to 100 (made that mistake, waste of money). Bar chart with decimals? Nope. Reporting on the GDP of a region? Can't do it.

    For a company that's so focused on being data-driven, it's pretty ironic that we can't create compelling charts in one of your flagship products -- especially when products like Excel and PowerPoint can do it. What gives?

    PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR USERS DO SOMETHING!!

11. Add comments from InDesign to reviewer using Share for Review

    It seems like owners of documents can only reply to existing comments made in the Share for Review document but can't create comments in InDesign that appear in the Share for Review document. Often, we have a question about text or images that the reviewer needs to answer, but we have to first Share for Review and then create the comment there. It would be great if we could convert InDesign Notes to comments for the reviewer that they can see in the Share for Review side panel.

12. Preflight Profile for Accessibility

    Add options to run accessibility checks in InDesign. Acrobat already has the ability to run an accessibility check. It would be so helpful to be able to run a preflight check for issues (e.g., alt text, table headers) before exporting.

13. Add Sticky Notes to Incopy like in Acrobat

    The Layout and the the Editors work pretty close together in our company. The ability for the Editors to correct their text in the Layoutview is a nice thing for both... Layout and Editors. But we really miss the "Sticky Note" Feature known from Acrobat. When the Editors try to communicate, that they want changes being applied to the Design, thats not really possible with Incopy right now. For example, the editors would love to click the sticky note tool, so that they could place it right next to a picture and add their notes. For exmample: "make this one bigger", "Erase this on", "Please take Picture 678 instead", and so on.

    We would really need a sticky note feature.

14. Export from InDesign to Adobe Express with frames & keep the frames as frames not as shapes that can't be filled with photos or color.

    Export documents containing frames from InDesign to Adobe Express & keep the frames as frames not converting them to shapes that cannot be filled with photos or color.
    I'm working on a project with a document created in Adobe InDesign, which may have photos, fill colors, or be blank to fill in Adobe Express. When I export to Adobe Express, the frames convert into elements/shapes, preventing me from placing photos or changing the fill color. This limits my ability to design efficiently and uniformly. Recreating in Express or using new boxes and masking doesn't solve the issue, especially for custom shapes like trapezoids with rounded walls or specific corners. It seems like Adobe could add this functionality easily, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to do this? I prefer to stick within Adobe InDesign and Adobe Express without using a third program as a bridge or to convert.

15. Keeping the format when updating the spreadsheet link indesign data merge

    After creating a linked data merge file, you can then go in and edit certain field. But, if the excel sheet needs updating, you then have to 'data merge' again and lose all formatted text/images etc. There are third party apps, like WordsFlow, but this is expensive. Please have this feature in InDesign! Thankings.

16. improve pdf comments!

    Firstly, kudos on the improved PDF comments. They are much much faster. No comparison. Thank you. It also seems to be working (although not tested much) much better with mixed English and Hebrew.

    However, if you look at the attached screenshot, ❶ the comment icon is small and b/w. It would be extremely helpful if this was large and ❷ just like in DC, the comments box wastes tons of space. It would be nice if the text was much larger. This was executed very nicely in Acrobat XI (ruined in DC which nobody can use now). Could you make it mimic XI? It would be much much easier to implement corrections.

    Secondly, something I have complained about before: you give the option to either enter one correction at a time or enter all of them for the whole product. It would speed up the process many-fold if I could on one page choose more than one correction to apply. Say I have 8 corrections and I want to apply 5. I would like to be able to select 5 corrections and apply all 5 in one go.

    And finally, and this is absolutely critical to truly make PDF comments useful: Right now, if I apply a correction, it’s almost impossible to see the correction. With DTP Annotations, you can apply all the corrections or just 15 on a page, and wherever corrections have been applied, I can easily see since the correction is marked in yellow. With PDF comments, all I have is a tiny very light blue “:” which is impossible to see.

    I welcome the improvements in 15.1.1 – they have sped up my workflow, but the above features (that one guy managed to do years ago for DTP Annotations), would be a game-changer.

17. Make a real collaboration with InDesign/InCopy via CC

    It was hard to see, that InCopy is still using E-Mail to collaborate with editors on another place. I thought it's all in the CC!! For this is a must have: I'm sharing an InDesign-document (or parts of it) save it for my incopy-editor. The editor gets a notification (email or instant) and will open it and makes changes and new content, save it and the designer gets a notification that there is new content from editor xy. He can now accept this and the new content is inside the InDesign-document. Finish.
    But ash the moment it's very hard to check out/in make assignments, export it directly or as package. And saving on dropbox produces many errors/bugs (can't work in text-frames in InDesign nor InCopy …).

    Please, make it real user friendly and smart for small teams over the world! (I thought it is, when I step into CC!!!)

18. Show error when paragraph composer cannot render lines

    All too often, I run into text that doesn't render because of some feature of the text (unsure of all cases, but examples are words that exceed the line length, common in some languages and in URLs). I have a stable of techniques for dealing with these issues, but most usually I'm poking around in the dark: the lines I'm trying to fix are not visible in InDesign; I don't know what exactly is offensive (e.g., Chinese lines were usually things work, but sometimes they don't); and the offending text might have gremlins from the source text that are not rendered in InDesign even when I can see them.

    It would get great if InDesign had an option to 1) show the error/reason that the line couldn't be rendered, and 2) to force render the line so that users are not guessing at fixes, or what I often do, throwing text into a basic text editor to attempt to clean the source text (which is a 50-50 or worse solution).

    FWIW, I see these errors most commonly in Chinese text, and perhaps most issues could be solved with a default Chinese dictionary. How I solve these Chinese issues can be bizarre, however: technique #1, adding spaces between words, then kerning out the spaces; technique #2, adding tab characters at the end of the paragraph (not even sure how I figured out that one!)

    One thought here would be to provide an option to render overset type within the Normal screen mode. Or to add a more specific error to the Preflight panel (e.g., sure its overset, but not because the frame isn't big enough, so what is the problem?)

19. inverted color option with objects

    When I select a text I really like how something looks when it's inverted by having it selected. having a feature that allows you to draw a shape so it inverts colours underneath would be cool. I can't seem to figure out how to do this in any other way.

20. Duplicate Spread n times

    In some occasions, I use InDesign to collect Photoshop or Illustrator artwork.
    In that case, I create a page with a Rectangle Frame, Auto-Fit checked.
    When I need e.g. 20 of these, I have to duplicate many times 1-2-4-8-16 etc.
    Why not add a number to the duplicate function?
