Preferences | Spelling... Add Find Option to Ignore Check Spelling on Master Pages and Pasteboard
Please add an option under Preferences | Spelling... Add Find Option to Ignore Check Spelling on Master Pages and Pasteboard.
This should be a Preferences feature under Spelling that can be turned on and off. I see that other people have asked for a similar feature so it's definitely a popular ask.
I'm a design professional and I create and use templates for a large corporation's various product marketing teams. Even with the best editors typos will slip through so it would be nice to be able to run a quick spell check on a document. Unfortunately, a quick spell check on a document with 4 or 5 Master Pages is not quick. And, the hack of selecting all the text on the master and making it have no language is not an option in a production environment because the templates need to have paragraph styles applied to the placeholder text on the master pages so that even a junior level designer is able to quickly assess and use the template.

I can't believe that it's been almost 7 years since I requested this feature and it's still not a reality... sigh. :(

If you could please enhance the Check Spelling option by incorporating features akin to those found in the Find/Change button, it would greatly improve user experience. Specifically, having an "Ignore/Include Masters" button during the spell check process would be particularly beneficial. This addition would allow users to seamlessly choose whether to disregard or include master elements in their spell-check sessions, thereby providing more flexibility and efficiency. Such a feature would streamline the editing process, especially for those working with complex documents, ensuring that they can focus on the necessary corrections without disrupting their workflow. Your attention to this enhancement would be immensely appreciated, as it would cater to the needs of users who require greater control over the spell-checking functionality. Thank you for considering this request!

Agreed, I waste a lot of time on skipping the same static pasteboard notes all the time.

Users should be able to spell check printable area only—what's actually on the pages, not in the workspace to the sides.
