1. Pages panel for book wiev

   I want the pages panel to display the whole book. Sometimes it is very useful to see the transitions between chapters before exporting to PDF. Double click a page and it opens the file.

2. Allow designers to "group pages" for to provide easier re-organization

   Similar to grouping layers in photoshop and illustrator or styles in INDD, you should provide the folder option inside the pages panel to "group pages" to make sections easier to reorder.

4. Please let apps remember dialog box size & position

   Please make CC-apps aware of user display setups and changes, single or multiple screen resolutions. Hunting for them acress multiple screens, repositioning and resizing them each time is needlessly cumbersome and time consuming!

   1. Default:
      – in case of multiple screen setup: main screen (as specified in OS display preferences), centered.
      – in case of single screen: centered

   2. User settings
      – record and store user changes to dialog box sizes and positions with current screen setup. Store setups in prefs file.
      – make CC app recognize changes in multiple screen real-estate and store and recall users dialog box positions from this setup. Update catalog of setups accordingly after each screen stup change.
      – include reset dialog box positions button in CC app prefs to restore factory settings.

5. Option to ignore the non breaking space and thin space of the font

   Many fonts created by English-speaking designers are poorly adapted to French typesetting in terms of the width of the non-breaking space and/or the thin space. It should be possible to ignore these spaces and use InDesign's default spaces.

6. Copy Artboard Size across CC apps

   I do this a lot: I have a diecut in Illustrator and need to create the layout in InDesign. I have a little OCD (like most DTP/Artworkers :)) ) so I create the diecut in Illustrator and then fit the artboard size to the whole art. When I start creating the layout in InDesign, I create the document using the same page size as the Illustrator file. And I do this several times a day. :)

   It would be great to have an option/button in Artboard Tool (Illustrator) / Page Tool (InDesign) to copy the size and be able to create a document with the same page size in the other program. I'm thinking something similar (not the same) to the Photoshop default option of creating a new file with the same size as a printscreen/copied image.

7. Make cells split over 2 pages like they do in Word

   Please Make cells split over 2 pages like they do in Word. We publish very large books that are updated all the time, having to manually cut cells at every page is an unimaginably heavy work load! And it is wasted work. It has to be redone every edition!

8. InDesign's own favourite 'edit original' software

   With the feature "edit original" in the context menu of images, InDesign opens the image in the OS-default software.

   I Think it would be handy to choose a different default edit-software for InDesign only.

   If i want to use this feature (especially with shortcuts) I have to set the default software for all images to photoshop (system-wide!). But I do not want to use Photoshop everytime as a default for every image, it's only necessary in InDesign.

   It would be great if I could set a default editing software in the settings of InDesign, in wich I can set the default software for each fileformat.

9. Font style and weight should be separate properies

   I think text properties should be more adapted to the CSS structure. This includes applying several styles to a character/paragraph but that topic has already been discussed here https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests/suggestions/31112107-allow-multiple-character-styles-to-be-applied-to-c

   This time, My suggestion is to separate weight (thin, light, regular, medium, bold, black, etc.) from style (italic, oblique, etc.). I know this would be a major change but it's worthy. This would make character styling much easier.

   Maybe width (compressed, condensed, extended, etc.) property should be an option, but this isn't important.

10. PDF comments: see/keep local formatting

    I’m missing two things. First, the PDF Comments panel menu doesn’t display local formatting (italic, bold, bold italic) whereas these are visible in Acrobat. Second and most important, when accepting a comment, any local formatting doesn’t translate into InDesign. As if the whole content is treated as plain text.

11. Anchored illustrations

    The layout of anchored Illustrations can NOT be moved around freely on the page it is anchored on. If you try to move the graphic around on the page or next page, the text is obscured or destroyed - the text is under the graphic. If you use the "inline" function the result is the same. The ability to move the "anchored" graphic anyway on the current page, page before it or the next page without the text being effected in any way. The TEXT should re-position itself around the image wherever move it.

12. Add Eyedropper function to swatch options

    Add eyedropper functionality to Swatch Options so that I can quickly sample a colour from anywhere on my screen to change an existing colour (similar to photoshop colour picker).

    I am in the process of updating a calendar which has numerous elements coloured by month name on each page - the client has given me an image of 12 swatches to change each month colour and an eyedropper would make this much easier...

13. Make it possible to (gradually) lock pages in the pages panel

    That is a nice way to disinguish pages that are finished and pages that need work. An, off course, to prevent pages from changing.

    I understand there are some challenges, like multipage stories and master items, but maybe the lock function should take that into account, a dialog that gives the user the choice: 'The pages you are going to lock contain parts of stories that are connected to unlocked pages. Do you want InDesign to split those stories? Or do you want a 'soft lock' that locks all positions, but allows text to reflow?'

    And then: a fully locked page will have a black padlock icon, and a smart / soft locked page may have a gray padlock. Or something.

14. Show Cross-References

    Under Type menu, have option to show cross-references, or have a way to show that something is a cross reference when showing "hidden" characters.

    Currently after creating a cross-reference, it is very easy to lose it by typing over the text because nothing differentiates the cross-referenced text from regular text in paragraph.

    Would also be cool if there were some sort of control feature as in "indexing" so that you could see all the cross-references that have been created. Very helpful in long documents.

15. Ability to add alternate text to long hyperlinks

    One of the suggested techniques for complying with WCAG 2.0 AA is to provide alternate text for long urls so that screen readers read the alt text rather than the url when tabbing through. This can only be done in acrobat at the moment. Which means it has to be done every time a PDF is created. We regularly amend our files and have many documents with many long (2 line) urls so it is going to be very time consuming to do this every time we create a PDF. I appreciate one way round it is to have human readable text with a hyperlink behind it but some of our users require us to have the full url present. Thanks

    Thank for your attention and helping. On behalf of my region, I would like to make a request boldly to your company about the new effect of vertical typesetting.

    The existing versions of indesign equipped with CJK typesetter and applicable to East Asia have only one text arrangement direction for vertical text arrangement - the first column inherited is on the right, from right to left from ancient China.

    CJK in this article is a combination of Chinese, Japanese and Korean. There is one thing in common: all are square characters.

    With the development of the times, in the birthplace of vertical arrangement, it is no longer emphasized to inherit this text arrangement. Now in China, this arrangement is no longer taught.

    However, because of the square attribute of each Chinese character, even if it is no longer taught in the classroom, the text will still be vertically typeset when typesetting. But, now in China, reverse vertical typesetting of words from left to right also exists, such as the newspapers in China.

19. Share for Review: Tracking Resolved Comments

    While the Share for Review option is so handy for clients to make edits, it is a nightmare to track what has been implemented because as soon as the edit is resolved it becomes unmapped.

    It is very hard to keep track of revisions so I would love a feature to glance back on previous versions (either by highlighting, creating a pdf including comments, or a window that you can click a page to see before and after results) to see where the markups where made. Clicking back to unresolved doesn't work because once a change is made the text it was anchored to is gone. I have a list of unmapped comments with random instructions that have no bearing on what the text currently looks like.

    Clients have come back and asked me for the previous marked up copy where they can see the comments they made to compare and check corrections were made as they had intended.

20. Cross-Reference feature

    I'm an avid user of InDesign; currently working on a book-length document of about 150 pages. I often want to cross-reference something said earlier; however it is buried somewhere in the hundreds of paragraphs of the article story format. That means it's very hard to find that paragraph so that I can simply refer to the page number it's on (see attached file of image capture).

    Here's my suggestion: Add a field in the cross-reference dialog box where you can copy in a few leading words of the paragraph you want to find, then have the paragraph text field find the matching text. That's it; it would be so helpful.
