1. Make embedded video readable in Adobe Reader as before

   For many years InDesign has given us the feature to embed video in PDFs. We built a business round this format. Now, with the demise of Flash Player, all our ebooks with embedded video (not Flash content) are not usable by the customers who have bought them over past years, all round the world. We pay no small sum to use InDesign and CS. You have given us this format, which still exists, yet you won't update Adobe Reader with a media player to play the resulting files. How difficult can this be? Other formats exist, yes, but none of them do the same job and they all have problems either with monetization or delivery, so we as a business are in a catastrophic situation. Shame on you Adobe for abandoning your customers of so many years. It makes no sense on many levels, including marketing. Adobe Reader with a media player creates an entry point to Adobe products for many people. You are so missing the point here.

2. Cover page for printing book should have their own setup by default to reduce confusion

   I having issue seriously with page numbers. If its 38pp but in my pages box, shows 34pp example. Why do i need to get confused here?

   I think indesign perhaps should have an option where I can right click and say page 1 and 2 is the cover, than the last two page is also a cover. Page number doesnt change, instead, right click and select it as book covers and boomz.

   So confusing when i exported it shows 34pp in pdf preview, and indesign shows 32pp. So yeah. That could be one feature adobe team can seriously look into. Instead of renaming the pages, why not FC is for front cover etc.

   Why i suggest? Because i forget my indesign show 30pp but actually front cover and inner front cover is 1 and 2, and my third page was renamed as page 1, did this so the page numbers start as 'pg 1' etc on page 3. T_T Confusing. HAhaha. Sorry but yeah. Hope this help.

3. Liquid text fields for forms

   Allow for text fields to expand (liquid) within middle of a sentence/paragraph. And be able to retain copy placeholder for forms when exporting to interactive PDFs

4. When creating hypertext links, please add the ability to configure the link to open in a new browser window.

   Many of the PDFs I create are opened and viewed via Web browser. It's annoying to the user -- and takes them away from our content -- when they click on a link and the link opens in the same browser tab.

5. File handling behaviour

   I would like indesign to First, look in its resident (root) folder for fonts and links, then look in subfolders (ie packed folders "fonts" & "Links") and only then, if it cannot locate them, go looking in the folders defined as "original links folder" or "most recent links folder".
   I would like this to apply to both opening a file and to saving the file and exporting files (pdf etc)
   and if this cannot be a default behavior, then I'l **** it to be an optional behavior.

   Why?
   because when I package a file I want the indesign file to use the packaged resources.
   because when I copy the whole folder to experiment on a file I do not want to find out later that indesign has been working with the original links which should not be altered (because client has approved them)
   Because after experimenting on the file and deciding to run with the new version, I overwrite the old links file only to find that I am destroying all the work just completed.

6. Add comments from InDesign to reviewer using Share for Review

   It seems like owners of documents can only reply to existing comments made in the Share for Review document but can't create comments in InDesign that appear in the Share for Review document. Often, we have a question about text or images that the reviewer needs to answer, but we have to first Share for Review and then create the comment there. It would be great if we could convert InDesign Notes to comments for the reviewer that they can see in the Share for Review side panel.

7. Bug: XML w/Images Export (filename)

   Just discovered during XML w/images export that ID is converting images w/spaces in filenames to underscores (causing mismatches, XML itself is correct) — is this a bug? Using ID 13.0.1

   Btw - I know this is a feature request post, but I can't find an easy way to submit bugs!

8. Hold Alt when dragging from Bridge/Explorer/Finder to pop the 'Import options' dialogue for that file placement

   QoL improvement - would allow you to skip using the menu interface when you just want to set PDFs/AI to include bleed or not - or when you want a specific page or layer from a paginated or layer file type.

9. InDesign Review saving all the versions

   I really have to prove that I made (25) revisions but I don't want to make PDFs. Is there a way for InDesign Review app able to save all the versions without 'Saving As' and creating another and sometimes huge memory file?

10. Automatic back-linking to endnote source in text

    At the moment, endnotes in exported pdfs are hyperlinked to the endnote page, but there is no "round-trip" backlink from the endnote entry number back to the point of origin in text - as there is in exported epub documents.
    This would be a very useful feature!

11. reorder bookmarks

    Let's say we have a document 40 pages long. The usefulness of all 40 pages vary because of end-user knowledge.
    As such,
    Master users will preferably only read 5 out of those 40 pages.
    Experienced will read 15 pages
    Intermediates 30 pages
    First time users 40 pages.

    Now this already is possible with a plug-in, but I fail to understand why Adobe don't see plug-ins as a clear sign that users want / need the functionality.

    Ok, what would be great is being able to script a user end button that calls the sort bookmarks function. The PDF would already have bookmarks on the pages that needed to be put together.
    But if a "master" then clicks the "master" button, the script reorders the specific pages and puts those exact 5 pages in the beginning of the document.

    In short... a scripted button made on design level, but active on user-end.

    Like I said, this is already possible with purchasable scripts, but it really should be built in in InDesign or atleast in Acrobat.

    Same goes for the other types of users.

12. Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.

    I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to their new locations. Even if it got them close but I still had to nudge them to their precise spot....just the action of them moving to the new area would literally save me a ton of time. I am a new user trying to move all of my files from QuarkXpress 8. So far I am very impressed with I am learning and how many things ID can do that QE cannot. Thank you for consideration. 13. Add the following features to Buttons and Forms menu.

    Add the following features to Buttons and Forms Format menu.
    Options: Alignment - Left, Right, Center, and Default Value.
    Format: Number, Percentage, Date, Time and Special - Zip Code, Phone Number..
    I create a LOT of fillable PDFs and it would save HOURS of time if I could format the fields in InDesign.

14. lace Images Behind Text Without Outlines (Layers like Photoshop)

    Description:
    In Adobe InDesign, there is currently no option to place images behind text without converting the text to outlines or paths. In Photoshop, this is easily achieved using layer masks and clipping masks. It would be highly beneficial to have a similar feature in InDesign, allowing users to place images directly behind text that can still be edited (font, size, and content) without converting it to outlines.

    Benefits for Users:

    Increased flexibility and efficiency when working with text and images
    Ability to maintain the editability of the text (users can continue to adjust font, size, and wording)
    More intuitive design options, especially for users familiar with both Photoshop and InDesign
    Reduces the need for complex workarounds and saves time by allowing direct, flexible adjustments to text and image placement
    Feature Suggestion:
    Introduce a new option allowing users to use text as a transparent "mask" through which an underlying image layer is visible. This could be implemented as a "Layer Mask" or "Image Mask" feature, functioning similarly to clipping masks in Photoshop.

15. Combine Enhance Scanned File with AI

    I have a very large scanned pdf of a document that was typed with an old typewriter. I am transferring it all to InDesign and the quality of the text when I copy and paste from the scanned document is awful which is making me have to retype large chunks.
    It would be very powerful to use AI to test the text and make sense of it rather than the current output which is mostly garbage.
    And when I use the spell suggester, it comes out with such random suggestions which bear no relation to the actual spelling of the word - no context is taken in to the suggestions. Also, the number of times it suggests covid and brexit are ridiculous.
    This whole area of InDesign could be massively improved.

16. Include bit depth (8/16/32 bits per channel) as an item to be included in the Links panel (or at least in the Info panel).

    I know that bit depth is included in XMP File Info but as this panel is modal (and overly high) it is tedious to fetch this information from there. It would be convenient to have both in Links and Info panels. Possibly these panels could be updated with other useful data, too,. This is useful as HDR is becoming increasingly popular, and while PDFs can include 32-bit images, I'd imagine they are problematic in press.

17. Faster Form Field Workflow - Batch Editing, Fields List Panel, Faster Renaming

    Need the ability to select multiple form fields to edit their input appearance in batch. Bare minimum we need a list of fields in a panel, similar to Acrobat.

    Couldn't get Acrobat to recognize table fields in a form I made with InDesign, so I converted the cells to graphic cells and made them text form fields. But then I could only select one at a time to edit their names, choose font, etc.

    Working on forms with a lot of fields takes a lot of clicks as it stands now. A panel with all fields would allow faster renaming and editing. Allowing edits of multiple fields would be a huge speed boost.

    If Adobe are so keen to help with sharing and workflows why have they failed to add a decent way of exporting to Rich text Files or .DOCX from Indesign?

    I propose an adobe RTF /DOCX exporter that ships with Indesign.

    Currently we have to rely on a third party product or a script to do this. It seems ridiculous to have to pay for software that is keen for AI to fill in the gaps but miss out on something as basic as this.

    If anyone who has to re-assemble a document format PDF export knows what a nightmare this can be.

    Implementing a native RTF (or MS Word) exporter would significantly enhance user experience. It would enabling seamless editing within their preferred word processing applications. Integration like this would streamline workflows, especially for professionals who require quick, efficient document editing and collaboration.

    Relying on third-party plugins or exporting solely to PDF can introduce inconsistencies and compatibility issues. Whereas an Adobe-native solution would ensure consistent and high quality output.

    Please add an option to align text frames by the actual letterforms instead of the font’s bounding box.

    InDesign currently uses the em-box and sidebearings, which means misaligned text when trying to align separate text boxes that contain different styles or type sizes. This makes precise alignment for headings/subheads really frustrating.

    Illustrator already allows bounding boxes that hug glyphs more tightly, so it feels like a big gap in InDesign.

    Proposed solution: Add a toggle or context menu option (e.g. “Snap Bounding Box to Text” or “Align to Glyph Edges”) so users can switch between:

    Align to Frame (current behavior)

    Align to Glyph Edges (new option)

    This would save huge amounts of time and eliminate clunky workarounds like converting text to outlines, using proxy rectangles, or constantly drawing new guides and nudging objects.

    There is the potential for InDesign to be a powerful QC authoring tool in our industry. We apply technical charts over the images which designers have created, like pitch/checker-decks. We need many different aspect ratios but repetition of the overlays and much of the info. We previously had over 90 layers the user would need to make visible or invisible - this is tedious and antithesis of good UX.
    Essential Graphics in AfterEffects is somewhat close to the idea we seek.
    InDesign is ALMOST there with ObjectStates, but these also require layer selection and a chunky workflow.
    Wiring ObjectStates to Buttons and Forms is exciting - but does not work in the ACTUAL INDD DOCUMENT - so it's not a solution.
    There's so many clever ways to solve the problem by building custom control panels with the Interactivity, but none of that function is available INSIDE OF InDesign - and exporting to EPUB/PDF is useless because we need to drop dozens of images into the pages.
    There's a precious chasm that sits between InDesign and XD that could be bridged - find some way of EMPOWERING AUTOMATION, allowing the creation of better/custom UI/UX, which builds better tools for the creators, not just end user product for display.
    This is valuable because it extends the function of InDesign to become more of a tool for making tools for others, rather than just a tool to make static, re-baked product.

    Interactivity, LIVE while using InDesign - Object States and Buttons that work at ANY time - ala AE 'Essential Graphics'.
    There is the potential for InDesign to be a powerful QC authoring tool in our industry. We apply technical charts over the images which designers have created, like pitch/checker-decks. We need many different aspect ratios but repetition of the overlays and much of the info. We previously had over 90 layers the user would need to make visible or invisible - this is tedious and antithesis of good UX.
