  1. Text wrapping around image should honor Corner Options

See this forum thread for details: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/wrapping-text-around-a-graphics-frame-with-corner-options/m-p/11776379

There are two issues - a feature request and what I think is actually a bug (related to the workaround for the lacking feature).

The primary question I asked in the forum feels like a bug to me, but I'm told it should be considered a feature request. So I request that in terms of text wrap, graphics frames generated by placing an image would behave the same as graphics frames created by the frame tool. If an image is placed and then Corner Options are applied, text wrap set to Graphics Frame…

  2. Establish a display of current baseline grid “increment every ##pt” and also a link to change in the paragraph styles menu.

I teach design at the Univ of MN. I stress the importance of utilizing baseline grids, but students are constantly confused how to establish and modify them despite my best efforts. For how vital baseline grids are, the modification of their settings seem very hidden with the settings panel. Also the language surrounding baseline grid is vague — align to grid could mean the square grid, the column/margins grid, or the baseline grid.

By establishing a display of the current baseline grid settings in the paragraph styles (indents & spacing), a more obvious connection to that grid would be…

  3. Inadvertently dragging image frame contents instead of moving frame.

I am frequently inadvertently dragging the contents of an image frame (photograph) out of the frame, instead of moving the frame itself. This is even while the Select Tool is chosen.

It seems to matter whether the frame was previously selected and where in the frame you click/drag.

I would like this to only be possible with the Direct Selection Tool.
Or at least, an option that can turn off this frustrating 'feature'.

  4. Relink already placed images with new images

When I tried to relink an already placed JPG in my InDesign CC 2019 file with a larger version of the same graphic with another file name, the Links panel showed the new file name and the new graphic size, but the placed image in my InDesign file remained the same.

For example, the original graphic was 1" wide and the new graphic was 3" wide. When I relinked the 1" graphic to the 3" graphic file, the image in my InDesign file still showed the graphic as 1" wide even though the Link Info showed the new file name…

  5. Ratios of Height to Width

I would like to see ratios of height to width in InDesign similar to Photoshop. In PS, when using the selection marquee or crop tool, you can set the tool to a ratio of height to width. InDesign should have that when making a frame shape and when making a page size. Designing content into frame regions that express a ratio of H x W furthers graceful design.

Is it possible to export a PDF with FLIPPING Pages options to be uploaded as an ebook without being obliged to buy another tool like ISSUU and FLIPSNACK...etc?

  7. Hi. I have my panels on the right and would like them to expand to the left and collapse to the right.

I keep my panels on the right and would like them to expand to the left and collapse to the right. This option is definitely available in Adobe Illustrator. Seems like a logical feature and probably easy to implement.

Need More Info  ·  Anonymous responded

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for making this suggestion. I tried this out on my machine. What you have in the expectation is exactly how its working, or am I missing something here. Do you have multiple monitors where you are using this, a screenshot of the issue would really help.

    Thanks
    Javed

  8. Integration of AI Text Generator in Adobe InDesign

If InDesign had an integrated AI text generator, it would be wonderful. Having the ability to correct texts, check spelling and grammar, rewrite something that doesn't sound right, and so, would be a powerful tool for those of us working in editorial design. I think this feature is a no-brainer for a program like InDesign, but since Adobe doesn't have a text generator (that I know), we haven't seen it yet. Dreaming is free! I believe it's an incredible function, and it would be fantastic to have it in the future. Fingers crossed!

  9. Smooth trackpad two finger scrolling

Smooth trackpad two finger scrolling. Using Macbook Pro with m1. Currently, scrolling two fingers via trackpad is laggy. Wish it was as smooth as scrolling while using the hand tool.

  10. Subject: Request to Reintroduce Removed Features and Add New Enhancements in the Latest Adobe Version

    1. Manual Second-Line Indent Adjustment Using Shift Key:
In earlier versions, within the Tab Settings panel, we were able to manually adjust the second-line indent by pressing and dragging with the Shift key. This provided precise and quick control over hanging indents. In the current version, this functionality has been removed, causing difficulty in achieving the same results efficiently. New Features Requested for Addition:

    2. Missing “Title Case” Option in Paragraph Style > Basic Character Formats:
Previously, users could set text to “Title Case” directly inside Paragraph Style > Basic Character Formats. In the latest version, this option no longer appears,…

  11. Paste where you click

When you copy an element and paste it with the shortcut Cmd+V, the paste is randomized.
Would it be possible for this Cmd+V function to take into account the location of the last click on the work plan with the selection tool?
For example, I want to place an existing circle that I want to copy to several locations. I could click exactly where I want to place it, do a Cmd+V, and it would be placed exactly where I clicked.
This saves having to place it every time, especially if I have 20, 30 or even more circles to…

  12. Make an option for "freezing" document window during searches

Currently, when executing a series of finds, a document with spreads will jump around within a window, even if view is set to "fit spread in window," as described in this post:

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/searching-a-file-in-indesign-causes-the-spread-to-jump-all-over-the-place/m-p/11118210?page=1#M185629

The expected behavior is that the page where the text is found should be centered on the page. That does not work with spreads. If panels are open on the side of the window, found text can frequently be hidden from view.

So I believe there is a bug with the expected behavior. But it would be even better than the expected behavior if there were…

  13. Multiple Image Export With Individual Names (JPG/PNG)

I want to export several pages, all in different formats, as JPG or PNG, each with a unique and specific name.

The 'rename multiple files' Tool don't work here, cause each name is completly different.

    Currently you have 2 Options:

    1. Export each page one-by-one and name the file right.
(If you have over 20+ Pages, thats not fun)

    2. Export all pages in one go and then rename every single file.

Update (Edit): If you gave each page with a new size individual name (for example names of the different master pages) you could use this when export so each file…

  14. Differentiate Native Styles vs Styles that came in with copy/pasted text

I would like for there to be some type of differentiation between Styles in documents when copy/pasting or bringing in new styles. Old styles get mixed up with new ones, some have the same names (body copy for example) so it's hard to tell which ones are from pasted copy and which are the ones I'm currently using in my document.

Open to any format as long as the Styles from the original document are all in one grouping and any styles from Copy/Pasted text are in another distinct grouping. This could be done by folders, or color-coding, splitting the…

  15. Swap Dropper

Instead of simply using the eye dropper tool to copy the style from one item to another, it would be cool if there was an option to swap the styles between the two items.

  16. sidebar right not scrollable - Bedienfelder rechts nicht scrollbar

Die Bedienfelder auf der rechten Seite können nicht mit dem Mausrad hoch und runter gefahren werden. ich muss immer in den Balken klicken und kann nicht mit dem Mausrad scrollen.

The panels on the right cannot be scrolled up and down with the mouse wheel. I always have to click in the bar and can't scroll with the mouse wheel.

  17. Add ability to convert a cross-document shared destination hyperlink to a regular URL without losing/re-entering the link

    FEATURE REQUEST

In order to help avoid broken and/or inadvertent cross-document shared links, please:

    1. Add a function to the Edit Hyperlink dialog to CONVERT a hyperlink url currently shared from another document into a normal self-sufficient url unlinked from the source document. (Currently, making this change to a hyperlink requires the user to change the selection in the "Link To:" dropdown menu from "Shared Destination" to "URL" which clears the previous the URL, and then hunt down the source URL and manually re-input it.)

    2. Add the ability to apply this conversion to multiple selected hyperlinks at one time from the…

Under "help" there shod be an option to click on a question mark, and then to click anywhere within the inDesign program, and it will give you a basic explanation of that feature/tool and what it is used for.

  19. Review pins hard to spot

I struggle finding the pins associated to the comments in my designs.

When working with huge very colorfull and image rich brochures the marked pin is very difficult to see a lot of times. Its really frutrating.

I have two suggestions that would fix this problem.

    1. Don't zoom out the view by default when you click on a comment. This would solve my problem, as I would zoom in close on my page and then click the comment. But now it zooms out the view when I click on a comment.

    2. A quick animated arrow that points to the relevant…

  20. Make Table of Contents menu robust and intuitive

Make Table of Contents intuitive. It's a powerful tool, and yet difficult to set up even for an experienced user. The navigate the setup menu is static but closes every time. The explanations are poor, and impossible to navigate without watching a bunch of tutorials (and the user manual is not helpful either). Because the layout formating is done in paragraph styles it's difficult to know what and where to change to get a specific result. This software is supposed to make creating a long document easy and yet formatting a TOC requires so much pre-knowledge without any directions in…
