It is SO important to have footnotes continue the numbering throughout a whole document without restarting the numbering every text frame
It is bad document design to have the whole document in one single text frame (a nightmare when doing changes and everything moves). At the very least each chapter should start with a new text frame. So it seems crazy that you can set footnote numbering to restart every page, spread or section but when none of these are selected the numbering should flow through the whole document! NOT restart for each text frame. Thank you.

Kerning Editor (with individual margin alignment options)
A Kerning Editor would fit nicely into the kerning feature, which allows to choose between optical, metrical kerning. The user would define his own kerning names.
The Kerning Editor has a GUI which allows the user to define his own kerning pairs which override the metrical ones defined in the font's kerning tables. There I can load the metrical kerning or the optical kerning as a start for my individual kerning.

In the pop up window file menu, "Object, Transform, Scale", when scaling a warning can be shown that object can't be scaled as they'd fall
In the pop up window file menu, "Object, Transform, Scale", when scaling a warning is shown that objects can't be scaled as they'd fall off the pasteboard. This is mainly due to the wrong point indesign scales from. IE it may be set to top left whereas centrally or mid right may scale no problem. But because the warning pops up you have to cancel what you're doing, select the different point then start the scaling process again.
Can the squares of the object not be combined with the scale pop up window please?

'Paste Attributes' - just like in Premiere Pro
If I have a couple of images placed on a page, if I want to match the attributes (eg. reference point, x offset, width, rotation angle, etc.) of picture B with picture A, I have to either manually remember (or copy) enter each of picture A's number and enter it into picture B's attributes, or use a script such as Equalizer.
It would be fantastic to have something just like Premiere Pro's Paste Attributes. Using this, I could select picture A, do Edit>Copy, then select picture B, do Edit>Paste Attributes... and a dialog box would pop up asking…

Fitting Content - Define Zoom Percentage
Add a feature to let me define the Zoom percentage instead of just the standard selections. Example, an 8.5x11 from a manual has margins. If the manual needs to be printed smaller, having to place every page into a defined size requires touching every page instead of just enlarge/reduce to a specific size.

Zoom box in Pages Window
I would like to see in CC InDesign the ability to see where you're zoomed in at in your pages window. Also, I'd like to be able to click and hold onto the highlight zoomed in the area on the pages window and move it to update the preview when I let go of the highlighted zoom box.

Footnotes *from different text frames* in *separate text frame*
New footnotes in InDesign 14 does not suite for complex layouts with many text frames and tables on one page.
There should be also a solution for footnotes collected from different text frames / tables on a page.

Add row/column dimensions to table styles
When a document includes multiple similar tables, I would like to be able to quickly set them up to have the same column widths for better consistency. Adding this kind of information to styles seems the most logical place for it.

Bring Back the DPI!
Dear Adobe,
How could you get rid of the term DPI, especially in InDesign, and replace it with PPI?!!!! As a print designer for the last 15 years, it breaks my heart to see that the premiere software company for designers has abandoned a term that is part of the fundamental lexicon of graphic design. I am a print designer at a CA State University and it kills me that our graphic design students graduate with an BA in Art/Graphic Design without having set foot inside a print shop! Icon Localization for Asian Users
I am a Korean user.
The menu and description is well displayed in Korean.
But why does the Japanese Hiragana 'あ' appear on the letter ratio icon and the lettering icon?
Does Chinese users see that icon too?It seems that CJK version is using icons together while localizing.
If Adobe respects each country's culture, I would like to change that icon to suit each country.
(ex: '가' for Korean users)

Windows within Pages Panel
When working on a long document, you may need to refer back to an earlier page for information or formatting consistency. An easy way to do this would be to allow for the Pages Panel to be subdivided into windows or views of the overall docuement. That way when you are at page 120 and need to look at 80, you could simply get 80 in one window and 120 and its adjacent pages in the other. Placeholder Text Feature
Seeing as InDesign has interactive PDFs in mind giving us the ability to create forms easily and then export them as a PDF to open in Acrobat, I feel like a feature to inset placeholder text to fields shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
To clarify, I was hoping to find an option under the Buttons and Forms toolbox that allows us to check off a box for placeholder text so when someone types in the field the original text there is overwritten with the new content. Like a "W" for width and an "L" for length in field boxes…

Adding a separate pages or extract pages as individual pages feature.
Working in a newspaper environment, our layout clerk sets up our paper in sections. If our A Section is 12 pages, she sets it up as a 12 page section and dummies the advertisements on the pages. When our editorial staff grabs the pages to do their jobs, they need to be able to work on each page individually, not as one full document. We need feature variables
Ideas for expanding the functionality of text variables have already appeared here. It would also be interesting to create variables to describe the properties of non-text objects. For example, color, font size, size (length / width), page position, styles, etc.
The benefit of such an introduction is obvious: you do not need to create many monotonous styles that differ only in one or two common features. It would also indirectly affect the number of master spreads created.

Script Label Manager
We use scripts and script labels on a daily basis! It would be absolutely FANTASTIC to have a window (similar to LINKS) that when opened, displays ALL script labels in the board/file, along with a link to where it is in the page (selects the item that's labelled).
It is extremely tedious to use script labels when there is no way to properly organize and manage them.
Please please make this Script Label Manager a feature!

Updating numbers only in a table of contents
We should have two options when it comes to update a table of contents.
1- Update entire table
2- Update page numbers onlyWord allows it. Why don’t InDesign too?

Make Color Books available under Window menu, like in Illustrator
I can no longer view Window > Swatch Library > Color Books. This now missing function allowed me to view/choose Pantone and other color books PLUS opened a window with all the swatches at once, just like Illustrator does.
Please reinstate this feature! of viewing the color book swatches arrayed in rows/columns in a scrolling window. See attached screenshot for how it used to look (matches how it works in Illustrator).1 vote
