1. Paragraph Style Option Dialogue Box - Bullets and Numbering

   We had to change the font we're using for a checkbox in one of our paragraph styles. We have it set up under Paragraph Style Options / Bullets and Numbering. To add a character you want to use for a bullet character, you click add. There is no way to sort glyphs (by math symbols, greek, etc.) in the next window, and there are no scroll buttons. You have to grab the handle on the screen and scroll, and it jumps so fast, you can't navigate from one screen to the next. It just took me 20 minutes to find the "LOWERED RIGHT DROP-SHADOWED RIGHT SQUARE" character for a check box. You can't copy it from another place and paste it in to this window. We use the feature a lot. We used to use Zaph Dingbats, but for some reason have had a lot of problems with the font lately, even after purchasing a new version. We searched many fonts to find this character available in a font all our users and translation agencies would have. (We translate our technical and sales documents to 12 other languages.) After trying to fix this style in all 12 languages, I would like to say - love the feature...do NOT love the interface. Is there a way this could work more like the glyph palette?

2. make font preview display filtered weights properly

   I'm attempting to preview all san-serif, heavy weight, regular width fonts. While the filter shortens the list of fonts in the preview window, when I use the arrow keys to see my live preview I am getting only light weight previews. If I want to see the heavy weight version, I have to pop open each font group and select the heavier weight version. What gives? This is such a basic idea... please show me ONLY bold, heavy, extra, etc. Don't show me light weight previews when I am filtering for heavy weight. This limitation makes live preview almost useless.

3. Option to recognise different paragraph styles as the really part of the same style

   When creating multi-level lists you need to use different paragraph styles. This creates a problem where the spacing you want at the end of the whole list and the start of a new paragraph is applied when you are in the middle of different levels of the list.
   I am thinking a little checkbox next to the 'Based on' paragraph style section in the 'General' tab of the paragraph style settings window that allows you to link the new style as a child of the top-level style.
   This way, those end of paragraph spacings won't be applied to the child (or sub-level) styles...

4. CC Libreries

   Sería estupendo contar con un sector de búsqueda por texto dentro de la ventana CC LIbraries para archivos y elementos subidos. Cuando guardo archivos le pongo un nombre por ejemplo: Logotipo de piscina 01. Entonces, me es más práctico buscar por nombre ya que la ventana tiene miniaturas demasiado pequeñas.

5. page sorter

   When I'm working on a long document, it's very hard to find a specific page that I know the look of, but don't know the page number to. And trying to move pages around is also ver hard in the small Page panel.
   It would be nice to be able to switch views in the main document window/panel to something that looks like the slide sorter on Microsoft Powerpoint. Where the thumbnails of each page isn't as small as they are on the Pages panel and there is a much larger screen real estate to sort through the pages.
   We could toggle between regular view and slide sorter view with a shortcut button maybe next to the Split Layout button on the bottom right.

6. How to release an IP address on a Mac?

   To release and renew your IP address in Mac OS X, you’ll use the Network system preferences to renew the DHCP Lease.

   1. Click the Apple button and choose System Preferences.
   2. Choose the Network icon.
   3. Select your method of connecting to the internet. In most cases it will either be Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
   4. Click Advanced.
   5. If you selected Ethernet, you should already be in the TCP/IP tab heading. If you aren’t, or if you selected Wi-Fi, click the TCP/IP tab heading.

8. Popup message if INDD document opens as "read only"

   We work on a cloud server (Nasuni). There is a slight lag (up to a few minutes) when a user opens a file and the lock file is synced to the cloud server.

   Occasionally, someone will be able to open a file that another user already has open. When that happens, in the document tab, the document shows as (read only). But there's nothing beyond that small text in the document tab to tell the user they are not working in a file they can save (and that someone else has the source document open).

   What I would like to see is that when InDesign allows a user to open a read-only file, that they get a pop up window that informs them they are opening a read-only version, similar to the way that MS Office informs the user that the file is open elsewhere and asks them if they want to open a "read-only" version or cancel the document opening.

9. Update the Review Panel

   I have been using Share for Review for a couple of years now.

   First: Kudos to Adobe for the recent update to the website tools, especially the login banner and the zoom buttons.

   There are still a few things that I would suggest changing on the app side, specifically to the review panel and the window from the share drop down:

   -Can we add an update button to the review panel? Or, even better, when you save (NOT Save As) have an option to update the review during the save process? Better than digging into the share windowpane just to do an update.

   -Can we have a toggle to hold comment changes in ID until the review is updated? Had a couple of times where reviewer goes "Where is my comment?" because I resolved the comment but had not yet updated review.

   -For the share settings windowpane, how about putting a comment toggle on the IDs in the invite list, with the owner automatically ON and guest commentator automatically OFF? And maybe a toggle for allowing just replies to existing comments? Again, better than having to drill down an extra menu and windowpane to control comment access.

   I have been using Share for Review for a couple of years now.

10. Accessibility Facilitate workload & Preview mode for barriers

    For large projects, for example we are currently working on 46 brochures for a redesign, it would be more economical if the workload for accessible PDFs would be significantly lower. We have to split the production due to the high effort (creating all formats, meta descriptions with SEO incorporation, creating articles, alt texts, etc.) and can only produce fully accessible for the next production. This is a great pity, but not possible otherwise due to the tight project schedule.

    It would be great if the articles resulted from the formats or an assignment via drag & drop (or as in After Effects a link... or inutitv as in XD). It would be even better if "Adobe Sensei" could automatically recognise the images and deposit ALT text suggestions that are then visible in a window at a glance - so that you don't have to open each individual image to edit it.

    And if I could keep dreaming, a preview mode showing the individual impairments would be optimal. So, for example, how the layout for red-green impairments work, whether the contrasts are sufficient ... etc. and, if ID can read out the document directly once - where you can then make changes directly, e.g. bring text areas forward or define them differently when reading out.

11. How to password protect a Mac OS X application?

    Start by installing the AppLocker app from the App Store on your Mac.

    When you open the app, you’ll find a new icon in the menu bar. You’ll see a popup asking you to set a password. Here, click on the “Setup My Password” button.

    From the Preferences menu, create your password (something that you won’t forget), and if you have a MacBook with Touch ID, you can also check the “Enable Touch ID” option. Now, click “Save Password” and then click on the red Close button in the top-left corner to exit the Preferences pane.

    Go to the menu bar and click on the AppLocker icon. You’ll see in the dropdown that the app is locked. Enter your password and click on the “Enter” button to unlock the app.

    Here, first check the “Start at Login” option. It will make sure that AppLocker starts up automatically every time you boot up your Mac and locks all your selected apps. Second, click on the plus sign (+) to add an app.

    From the new window, search for an app on your Mac and then click on it to instantly add the program to the locked apps list.

    Now, when you quit the app and try to launch it again, AppLocker will ask for a password.

12. New "Justification Auto-Correct" Feature

    Justification, while pleasing to the eye from the perspective of an entire page, creates problems. Hyphenation can correct this, to some degree, but it too has its problems. In the end, when justifying text, certain lines of text end up being scrunched while many others leave wide open spaces between words.

    In doing my best to correct for these problems, I tend to make most use of the horizontal scale feature. I often find that most of these visual blemishes (scrunching or overly-wide word spacing) can be corrected by either reducing the horizontal scale down to about 97% (in the case of scrunching), or increasing it to (usually) 103 to 106%. In the worst cases, I have found a need to increase the horizontal scale to as much as 112% or more. When this is necessary, I have found that compensating by reducing the vertical scale to 97% often visually corrects for most of the weird look created in the letters by stretching them to 112% or more.

    I would like to see a feature where InDesign could auto-correct for justification problems such as these. It would obviously need to analyze the spaces between each word. When the visually pleasing average spacing is ruined by justification, this justification auto-correct feature would employ similar changes as I have described, above.

    This would of course require a new element introduced in the Paragraph Style Options window, possibly called "Justification Auto-Correct," with a similar on-off check box akin to the one on the Hyphenation tab, and with standards set of reducing scrunched lines by as much as 3% horizontal scale (to 97%) and a standard of up to (at least) 106% as a standard. As already noted, exceeding 108 or 109%, in my experience, tends to get to the point where the letters look stretched--too much. Thus, an option to allow for reducing the vertical scale (standard up to 97% perhaps) when the horizontal scale exceeds a certain amount would be prudent to include in this feature, as well.

    I can spend HOURS manually correcting these justification problems. I would imagine that most people simply ignore them, because they are pesky, require you to read through the text carefully in order to spot them, and---when you make changes--require you to remove the manual correction you have made.

13. Better use of tags to create a barrier-free PDF with InDesign

    Hello Adobe InDesign Team

    for accessibility I have to use TAGs in PDFs. I creat my PDF out of InDesign and InDesign has already some features to add TAGs and structure to a PDF when exported but some features are buggy or incomplete so the PDF has to be revised manually, which is a big disadvantage especially when there are changes in the original InDesign file later.

    So here some of the most imported things I would changes to make this process easier.

    1. Add PDF/UA-1
       A barrier-free PDF need the PDF/UA-1 Note in the XMP-Metadata. I can only be done via Acrobat by now. (see PDF-UA-1.jpg)

    2. Add custom alternative text to „all“ link-TAGs
       Every link-TAG needs an alternative text to be barrier-free. By now you can only add custom alternative texts to links-TAGs that are created via the hyperlink window. But InDesign creates also link-Tags for other elements where you can not add an alternative text. This is the case if you

    3. create a table of contents with InDesign

    4. use end or footnotes

    5. use cross-references

    6. Missing Tags in the Paragraph Styles tag export setting
       In the Paragraph Styles setting under Tagexport is no option for a caption tag or a quote tag:

    7. Undefined path object
       If I use graphical effects for texts or tables (drop shadow, colored underline for text, colored text box, line between table rows…) this path objects are not tagged when exported. They need to be tagged as arte fact.

    8. Tabel, TH not THead , TD not Body
       InDesign exports tabels with wrong tag. The tag for a table head is TH not THead. The tag for a table cell is TD not TBody. Also you need to be able to be more precise to define what cell is a TH in a tabel and what cell is TD. Also you have to be able to define if TH in a column refer to TD in a row. See tabel-head.

    Here’s how to install Flash Player on your Mac:

    1. Click the Missing Plug-In button.
    2. Click on Download Flash.
    3. This will take you to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ which is a legitimate site – if you ever get taken to a site that is clearly not Adobe be very cautious, it is likely you are being taken to a malicious site.
    4. Click on Download Now. The download is ~20 MB.
