Package items included on pasteboard
Basically our agency puts together loads of creative presentations in inDesign.
A great way to do this is having mock-ups on main page, but build an associated inDesign editable graphic and we normally put that to the side so if we need to make changes we can do on fly and get the editable file right which we can then very quickly update a PSD smart object mock-up for example. So we can keep all workings in one ID doc and it is easy to manage.
But if you package work it doesn’t include pasteboard links and I can get why, but it would be great to have a check box to ‘include pasteboard items’ when packaging.
A workaround is increasing slug to one side of page and if you place graphics in there it packages. But if you could make it easier that would be easier.
Cheers

The workaround I use for this is to expand the slug area in the document setup to include items on the pasteboard. Everything within the slug area will be packaged, and then you can revert to previous doc setup.

This would be incredibly valuable and generate easily achieved productivity gains.

Totally support the utility of a checkbox method to ADD PASTEBOARD ITEMS when Packaging. Those of us who do periodicals (magazines, newsletters), are constantly putting boilerplate items that you sometimes use/sometimes DON'T on the pasteboard. Don't need it this time, but NEXT issue I may use again. But when you open up your archived package from the last job — OOPS — now you've gotta go hunting on your hard drive for a handful of files so they link and display and print correctly. What a silly waste of time that a checkbox in the Package function would have cured.

Was also looking for this...thought I'd done this in the past, but must have been mistaken. Agreed that this would be highly helpful. In the meantime, a workaround:

Basically you make a book file, add the file you're trying to package, and in the book panel "package book for print."
Seems to work for me.

A checkbox to include pasteboard links (or "All" links) during packaging would be ideal. I'm forever chasing clients who have included alternate states on the pasteboard.
Have it remember it's state per document. If the doc hasn't been packaged before, use the state from the last file that was packaged.

There are many other reasons to want pasteboard items to be included in a package. Archiving is one. Sharing or passing off partially completed documents is another. The suggested check box to "include pasteboard items" should be an easy fix that would make many users happy.

Why not library and snippets? This is not a PageMaker workflow. My strong IMHO
