spell check
Spell check in Indesign is not fit for purpose in its current state, it is slow and clunky and gives no indication of where you are when checking a long document, could it not give a list of words like links panel that you can click to go to? At least implement some sort of progress bar and indication of how man words are incorrect/need reviewing. Keep Comments on the Spread When Resolved
My reviewers love being able to see the conversation and comments all the other reviewers are making, saving them time by not making the same comment over and over. My proposal team thinks the interaction between InDesign and SFR is wonderful!! In our large documents, we have found as we start to make the edits, the comments disappear making it challenging for the document editor to find where they were. The comment totally disappears or it throws them to the end of the list in a pile of "unmapped comments." BUT it then totally moves the comment off the spread.…

Smart Object typography in Photoshop Be Editable in InDesign
I work in sports so I have create schedule graphics. I love to format the text in InDesign and paste it into Photoshop as a smart object to build out my digital graphics but when I need to edit that smart object it kicks me into Illustrator to edit the text. I would love to be able to edit the smart object typography in InDesign where it was originally created.
(My work around has been to edit the text in InDesign and just re-paste into Illustrator.)

Highlight text in preview only
InDesign is often used for templates. It would be really cool if we could highlight text so that it's ONLY highlight in preview mode (W) and the highlight doesn't show in print, PDF etc. That way we can highlight the areas to change each time we edit a template but the highlight doesn't get printed.

Export to a Word/.doc file
Would like to be able to export a project to Word. Which typically exporting to PDF is fine, there are some clients that require us to send them Word/.doc file. I've been exporting to PDF and from there exporting to Word, but that means much of the formatting is lost.

Thin space export to ePub
Thin/hair/em/en spaces are not exporting to ePub.

fix options for interactive forms (text fields) - default text, font, size, color, alignment, etc. - none currently work CC 21
when making interactive PDF, the Text field doesn't hold the default text, or the font, size and doesn't hold the color.... The text field should hold all the text & attributes that are set in indesign, but even the options for the text field doesn't hold the font or size.

spell check - add option to limit to one layer
Please, please add an option to limit spell check to one layer only throughout the document - for example the currently chosen layer or the layer with a specified language. When doing translations of children books we need to work with two text layers - one for the original layer and one for the translation. When running spell check at the end of a translation it is always highly annoying to have Indesign jump randomly between the layers resp. languages. Character Limits, Comb Line Form Fields and Font Alignment for Form Fields

I would like to suggest that character limits can be set for comb line form fields. Also I would like there to be a possibility of creating comb line form fields (without creating tables). In addition, there should be alignment of the text as an option in the form field (whether left, center or right). This would save so much time and effort so that once the document is exported as a tagged PDF, those features mentioned would also be set. Finding Clipboard Contents Formatted and Unformatted
Indesign has the feature of replacing any text with clipboard contents formated and unformatted ^C and ^c. This is very useful but this same feature is not present under find > other
This is needed because for eg. we can find a wrongly rendered conjunct in the text and replace it throughout the file by copying the glyph. Later when we need to export the text to word or html, we have to replace the glyph with the wrongly rendered character. This is where InDesign does not presently have the option.

Export options for Share for Review
Ability to select page range(s), individual pages vs spreads, etc. directly in the export process, not buried in the last PDF export settings.

Changes to the tab order interface - make it work like layers pallet
It would be great if the tab order box that allows you to reorder their order could function like the layer pallet - allowing you to simply drag the order up and down as required while the document remains active.
This would allow complex interactive pdfs to have fields added and reordered with ease.

Exclude Parameters from Paragraph Styles
A bit CSS-like.
E.g. exclude Character Color from a Paragraph Style, to allow changing all but color by editing the style.

Hover over panels to expand them and let them collapse automatically
Hi
When working on a single (and small) monitor setup I am constantly collapsing and moving the panels of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator because that specific panel is hidden behind another expanded panel.This should fix that problem and should save me multiple clicks:
The option to expand panels when hovering over the panel's icon and auto-collapse them when the mouse leaves the expanded panel. The workspace stays clean that way and I don't need to constantly close unused panels.3 votes -
Make Display Performance High Quality by Default.
I have been using Indesign for about 10 years. I thought in the past when you set display peformance to high quality, then closed and re-opened indesign, the setting would stick.
Now, on the latest version, I have to set it to high quality each time I open a document, which is stupid considering probably 95% of user's computers can handle high quality mode these days. This is so much more basic than dealing with proxies in Premiere which is not on by default... It really should be set to high by default. It's really annoying to have to go…

Urgent support needed for .webp images in InDesign & Photoshop
With the latest MacOS update Safari is now allowing .webp images. As a design studio we do LOTS of moodboards, research docs etc. gathering 100s of images at a time. Now I realise half need to be manually resaved — and in Preview of all places because not only are they not supported in InDesign, but Photoshop either. Urgent help needed!!!! This is adding so much time to my day.
