There is no auto work around save multiple pages as a layout in PDF.1 vote
When you place an illustrator file into InDesign, you can select which artboards you want to place. The same should be done with Photoshop artboards (instead of having to place the entire photoshop document).1 vote
Right now Adobe has an option to have Lightroom and Photoshop in a special photo CC package for $10. How about making it where you can choose any two programs? I don't need those two but I would easily upgrade may aging CS6 Indesign for a package like that.1 vote
More and more product needs to be interactive.
Indesign allows us to make beautiful interactive pdf's. But there's a problem, the i-pdf doesn't work on all pdf-viewers and pre-viewers. Only adobe-reader or opening in the browser, but not directly from for example Gmail.
Also some functions in indesign could work much better, for example the button; it work perfectly as an roll-over, but not as a click-go-to-pageX. Those functions should be usable together.
Can we make an i-pdf feel like/work as an offline website?
And i would love to see more features/functions!2 votes
Is it possible to simultaneously save to .idml at same time as saving to native Ind file format? Using tryout now and wanted to save any live work both ways so if I decide not to subscribe, I won't have to go back and save all docs to idml.1 vote
Allow an an every other page option when you only need a header on the even side (left) of a table in a spread.2 votes
Sometimes large documents that have been translated into other languages will still have English written in them (company names, brand names, stuff that original creator wants to remain in English). Many times the English text will use a specific font, but that font does not support other alphabets/characters that appear in other languages, so the unsupported text comes up as red boxes.
There is no feature in InDesign that allows you to correctly identify the foreign language (all the red boxes) and lets you pick a different font WITHOUT changing the font for English. The only way to do this…2 votes
When placing a PDF, default setting for actualization is "keep user-defined visability ...".
Once switched to "keep PDFs visability ...", in the next document it is again on default "keep user-defined visability ..."
I would prefer to have "keep PDFs visability ..." as a stable default for placing.
1. I added a new Layer to a PDF, but set it invisable by mistake.
2. On actualization, I accepted "new layers visible as in PDF".
3. Later, I remarked my mistake an repaired the PDF.
4. On actualization again, nothing got better ...
I would prefer to know the PDFs…3 votes
I had the occasion to open a couple of older inDesign documents that are stored on my NAS drive. At first, I thought it was the network speed that took so long until I saw the popup dialog box explaining that conversion was in process. I can't believe how long it took to open the document. Am I the only one experiencing this or is inDesign becoming unproductive?1 vote
Because I file share with others, it would be nice to have the option to auto embed all links with InDesing.

I would like to see custom panel layouts carried across when you upgrade to a newer version. It is rather frustrating and counterproductive
I would like to see custom panel layouts carried across when you upgrade to a newer version. It is rather frustrating and counterproductive to have to set them up each time you upgrade. Not to mention it often takes a few days of moving things and showing panels before you get it back to what you remember1 vote
In Find/Change have an option to paste a variable. I will often search for a word and then need to paste a variable. Currently I have to right-click the results, choose Insert Variable, and then choose the variable.
Do that 10 times when a writer forgets to use a variable, replace all would be great.2 votes
When I enter a leading in mm, InDesign will always recalculate to pt. Please give us the possibility, that InDesign does not recalculate values entered in other units.
Or at least give us the possibility to change the field value into different units. Now I have to blindly try out or use my calculator if I see a leading of »12,756 Pt« – is it 4,5mm or 4,45mm or what?5 votes
Have 2 buttons on a page in indesign cc 2018, each starts a sound file playing, if reader clicks on one and then the second both files play at the same time. I want to click on one button and have it play a sound file and turn off the other sound files if they are playing. Think of it as a menu of sound files in a list but I want only one to be allowed to play at a time.1 vote
Please add an option to export ranges of pages as single page PDF files from Indesign like Illustrator(save individual artboards). This would simplfy sending pages to assembly station for imposition and corrections afterward.12 votes
Hi All, this feature is now available in the latest version of InDesign i.e. InDesign 13.1
Kindly update InDesign to get access to this feature.
Until now, coming from CS2, Indesign was not able to store the security settings in a PDF export profile. Every time when exporting a PDF I have to set these settings manually, plus the password. I know I could do that in Acrobat with an action, but that's only worth doing when exporting more than two files at once. The same PDF profiles could also be used by Distiller when converting EPS to PDF by drag 'n drop, so the target PDF would always be password protected. I call this automation.1 vote
It would be awesome if the size of the shape doesn't matter of the size of the contour. For example, if i draw a 10x10cm square in illustrator, the size is the same with 0pt contour or 20pt contour.
Bur in Indesign, the size is 10x10cm only if there is a1pt contour, and 10,7x10,7 if there is a 20pt contour. It is very disturbing when you have to create a cutting shape.2 votes
It would be great to be able to select an object or page and undo the last change that you made to it.
I think this would be good in illustrator too.2 votes
When I try to open an existing InDesign document from inside the InDesign program I don't get the full range of folders (1). This does not change when going to an upper level and into the detail again despite there is an original InDesign file in one of the hidden folders. I have to go to Windows explorer (2 and 3) to start the file.1 vote
Indesign in CS had the feature that every path in every dialogue was the same (when you opened a doc the import path was the same as well). Nowadays I feel like using Xpress all over again: every dialog has the path it had from the last access (open would be e.g. on C:\, place file on D:\foo\bar and so on. Can there maybe a checkbox to sync paths between the open dialogues that indesign manages?2 votes
