Ctrl + Backspace
In almost any Windows program (including InDesign) hitting Backspace while pressing Ctrl deletes the word to the left of the cursor., while hitting DEL while pressing Ctrl deletes the word to the right.
With InCopy on Windows, the word to the right is removed no matter if you use DEL or Backspace. This is very irritating and a bit pointless, since Backspace and DEL are just a few cm apart.
Also, I find myself wanting to delete the word to the left of the cursor much more frequently than the word to the right. For me this is a deal…

Enable switching of pages in imported pdfs
I wish there was a way to change the page of an imported multi-page pdf instead of going to relink the image (to the same file) and selecting the page with the import options clicked. This would save me so much time. All it would require is a page up/down button in the links palette that would only be visible when a multi page pdf was linked in the document.

We want a "Flush Return" character like "Flush Space".
The gap between questions is not equal. Automatic vertical blocking character can be added.
We want a "Flush Return" character like "Flush Space".
Page design production will be faster and smoother.5 votes -
Additional PDF export button for "CURRENT PAGE"
Without a lot of expensive coding, could you add a button for "CURRENT PAGE" in the dialog box for export PDF? It would be a lot quicker than having to enter the page number every time you want to export each page separately.

Would like to be able to ignore specific flags in Preflight
When preflighting a file, I would like to be able to choose to ignore specific flags that are brought up, that do not actually pose a threat to processing, while keeping in place the original settings that caused the flag to begin with (as in most cases it is an issue that needs to be fixed).

Add an option to rasterize chosen graphic objects on export (especially vectors)
Often we have to work with vectors, and often they take up a lot of space, which leads to the growth of the final PDF document and the slow rendering of the document in browsers. The trick with reducing transparency, when we make the selected frames 99% opaque and turn on the flattener, does not always give a good quality result and can cause stitching.
I suggest adding the option "rasterize" to the settings of the style of the graphic frame, so during the export the vector object is replaced with a raster copy. The quality settings for rasterization can…44 votes -
Remove hyperlink:
Remove hyperlink: There is no simple convenient way to remove a hyperlink. When you check, you find, "Edit Hyperlink" or "Go to destination". So, you go to "Edit" and find the hyperlink field, with the only option to delete the hyperlink being the word/letter info of the link that's in the entire field. But then it won't let you do that, saying: "! Invalid Entry". So, you have to reenter the text you had hyperlinked, then delete the text with the hyperlink. Please add a menu line, in both "Text-Hyperlink" and right-mouse-button "Hyperlink" that says and does "Remove Hyperlink", along…
19 votesIf you have InDesign CC 2019, when you select a Hyperlink and look in the Properties panel, you will see 3 buttons – ‘Remove Hyperlink’, ‘Edit Hyperlink’ and ‘Manage Hyperlink’.
Remove Hyperlink does what it says – it removes the hyperlink. However, it retains the applied Character Style which can be manually changed by clicking the [None] style in the panel.
Manage Hyperlink opens the Hyperlinks panel (if it’s closed) and Edit Hyperlink lets you edit it.Hope this helps.

Allow for fractional changes to % in image size (and other) fields using the keyboard arrow keys
Thanks to images off cellphones, etc I find it difficult to resize images to fit a box using the arrow keys. This is because the dimensions are large and the resolution low.
WORKFLOW :
I place an image and it comes in at 4.732% (for example).
I need to make it bigger to fit - but 5% is not big enough, and 6% is too big.
Now I need to enter numbers into the fields - or scale using the image boundary.
Neither are effective methods when the books I work on contain 1000 plus images each - I just…2 votes -
Style counters
I would find very helpful to have a counter near any style (in particular for tables, but can work with other styles too) that enlights the number of items to whom is assigned the style and add a function, similar to the error panel, in which one can scroll to the elements, double clicking, and be brought to the item itself.

Smaller increments when zooming using Keyboard Shortcuts or Mouse Wheel
If someone is using a Mac laptop, the zooms that can be achieved using the trackpad can be very precise, however the zooms with Mouse Wheel or Keyboard Shortcuts can be a bit too "jumpy" and frustrating.
For example it jumps from 50% to 75% to 100%. What I often need given my screen size is 60%.
Maybe if the zooms were smoother all the time it would allow more users to find the right zoom for their comfort, especially if working with several screens19 votes -
Automatically create page hyperlinks from page. numbers entered to the page in the document
Have an option so that when typing an index and I type in a page number on the index page the program automatically creates a hyperlink to that page - it would save me hours every year. Even if you had to create a column within a table or something to do this.....
Of use the chapter heading at the top of the page to automatically create an index

No scroll options in Font menu
Please, add a scroll bar and/or scroll wheel/page down/page up options and maybe start typing font name desired to functionality in the font menu in InDesign CC PC versions! Painful at best without these options.

Auto update the Table of Contents when saving or PDF'ing
Currently you have to REMEMBER to update your TOC before you export to a final PDF (or before a final print). It would be helpful if it updated automatically upon saving or maybe include it as an option in the Adobe PDF presets, checked by default together with "View PDF after exporting" etc.

Now that we can choose the fonts and sizes for forms in indesign it would be nice if we can choose the colour of the fonts too.
After finally being able to choose what font and it's size and style in the forms section of indesign, we seem to be missing the final piece of the puzzle, which is the colour of the font too. Would be really nice to finally get that added in.

Make "Paste without formatting" work for any type of text in clipboard
If I want to paste text into InDesign and use the destination formatting rather than whatever the source is, I'm hard-wired to use "ctrl + shift + V". However it appears that if the contents of the clipboard are plain text, this command isn't available, presumably because InDesign thinks it's not necessary.
This means that the interface is inconsistent, because sometimes you need ctrl + V and sometimes you need ctrl + shift + V, depending on what's on the clipboard.
The option should always be available so that if you want plain text you can use the ctrl +…

Save\Package Option
As I am finishing work on a new document, I would love a selection box for "Package Files" inside the Save Dialog or a Save\Package option. This would make it easy when saving at the end of the day if the files could be automatically packaged into one location if the selection box is checked.

Easier way to restart endnote numbering
Thanks for the new endnotes feature. Arrived just in time, as i had to do a book with two extensive sets of notes and was dreading the thought of having to do one set manually.
But having to break the chapters into stories in order to restart numbering on the notes was rather a nuisance. I don't like having to break a book text into stories (creates too many opportunities for things to go wrong). How about creating a function that allows a number restart after a paragraph style? I would think that most users would want to restart each…

Please expose a PDF's page count to scripting
To place a PDF in InDesign, you have to know the PDF's page count. The main point of the PlaceMultiPagePDF script is to show how you can place a PDF without knowing its page count, but it's slow business and get very tedious when you want to place part-ranges that include an open-ended range, such as 10-20, 30-
There is a hack, but it's ugly and unreliable.

Add "Unmap All" to Map Tags to Styles
In the Map Tags to Styles popup panel, please supply a "unmap all tags" button. Sometimes we use the tags to prestyle text, but then apply manual overrides, and want to retain the manual overrides when importing new XML. We currently have to manually remove all mapped styles from the tags before doing that, which can be very tedious when working on large numbers of documents.
