  2. Rework Grid: Set Grid opacity, Add Grid to Document setting in stead of Preferences

Grids are very usefull. But when those are In Front, it would be convenient if the opacity could be reduced. 100% opaque makes it hard to make design decisions when the grid is active.

An old (Xpress legacy?) irregularity, is that Grid settings are part of Preferences, while these should be part of Document Setup.

Grids belong to a document, not the application.

  3. Option to open file path after PDF export

Could the PDF export dialog box have an option alonside 'View PDF after exporting' for something like, 'View file in finder after export', so that I can really quickly send the file in an email.

Or even 'Send file after export' so that I can super quickly flick the file off to our account managers?

  4. Open multiple files from the 'Open Recent' thumbnails page would really help speed up getting back into work flow

From the 'Open Recent' screen, the ability to open multiple documents without having to go into the open dialogue would be great.

  6. Stop making the CC Libraries the default!!!!!!!

I am sick and tired of the Library panel popping open because there are embedded defaults that make EVERY new thing I make think it needs to be added to the cc library.

I DON"T WANT TO USE THEM AS DEFAULT!!!!

If I want to use them I will decide.,

    STOP MAKING IT THE DEFAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. touch bar support

I've been using the touch bar of my MacBook Pro for a lot of things, including Photoshop. As I am mainly using Indesign in my everyday work, it would be great to have touch bar support, for instance for applying paragraph styles to texts.

  8. Not truncating filenames in window when relinking

  10. beeing able to save document bounds (document preferences)

I have this problem, that my workspace layout has pallettes docked to the right screenside. With multiple document windows set to non tabbed (see screenshot; red area), the initial opened window will extend under my pallettes (green area), making it impossible to see the scroll bar. Also the document page isnt centered (blue area), and objects on the pasteboard are dissapearing out of sight under my palettes (yellow area).

    I have this covered by a start-up script with an event-listener 'afterOpen': app.layoutWindows[0].bounds = [81, 40, 1357, 1762];

But i'd like to see this as an option.…

  11. The fill and stroke selectors on toolbar when in the single column option are too small.

The fill and stroke selectors on toolbar when in the single column option are too small. By comparison in Illustrator in the same single column view they are much bigger and easier to select.

  12. Jump to page 1 = just go to first page already

If my document is numbered pages 43 to 59, for example, and I press Command -J and enter "1" for "Go to page:" PLEASE just take me to the first page in the document! Is that too much to ask? ;-)

  13. Add full fullscreen/splitscreen support for Mac OSX

OSX has a fullscreen/splitscreen mode, integrated into their Spaces (desktop view dedicated to one app only) support in almost any app.

Acrobat (!) already added this fullscreen support.
The classical design workflow would be greatly improved if InDesign (and most other CC apps) would support this native OSX feature.

Especially corrections, copying text, comparing artwork and final lay-out, switching apps, would go much faster, with less switching of views, apps, moving windows around etc…

On a MacBook, this would make all Adobe apps much more useful. I (and many others) do not want to pay for a second monitor, only…

  14. Put the Tab panel in the Text and Table section of the Window menu

The good old Tabs are still standing strong, and they can still do stuff Tables and Character or Paragraph settings can't, like tab leader dots, align on specific characters, fill to right tabs, etc.

But users are always looking for it under the Text and Table section in the Windows menu. I know, it might technically not behave completely like a regular window/panel. But it looks like a window, it moves like a window, so to most people it's a window...

  15. Put the Stroke Styles in the Styles section of the Windows menu

It's so simple, and so obvious.
No one knows there are Stroke Styles (and brilliant ones) until some one tells them to look under the side menu of the Stroke window...

  17. Default black pasteboard option across all documents

At present if you unselect matching the pasteboard to the theme, the only default is white. Please can we have a black option so we don't all go blind.

  18. print-preferences should auto-sort alphabetically

Just a thingy: Im not able to alter the order of my styles, thats fine and dandy. But then I would rather have it sorted alphabetically.

@screenshot: See how "A1" (2) is at the bottom, where my brain want to find it at the top of the list beneath A1 (1).

  19. Open failed (.inlk): Dialog "Open As Copy?"

Ever "browsed" thru a fileserver to doubleclick the document from Finder/Explorer?
Bad for you, if that file is in use by someone else, because:
Now you can redo the browsing within InDesign, just to access the "open as copy" within the file-open-dialog.

What if the "No access, maybe locked."-warning can be a dialog like this: "No access, maybe locked. Try to open as Copy?"

  20. Please, please, please support Emacs-style key bindings...

...at least for macOS. Virtually all macOS apps, especially those developed by Apple, support Emacs-style key binding that are incredibly useful for text navigation and text selection purposes. As an almost daily use of InDesign—and a 26-year employee of Adobe—I would very much like to see this supported. Most of the commands involve the use of the "control" key, which appears to be unused for InDesign keyboard shortcuts, so this is likely to be a no-brainer.
