1. lowercase icon should match the other text modification icons in the Control Panel

   With InDesign 20.4 the option to lowercase text was added. But the icon in the Control Panel differs from the other icons shown there.

   Please modify it, maybe like I did in the image attached to this feature request:
   red = actual UI
   green = better version

   Of course the icon team of Adobe will make an even better solution than my simply drawing.

3. Make it possible to simply drag an image from Apple Photos into InDesign

   Right now there's many steps required to add an image from Apple Photos to InDesign. You have to download all your images to a folder. Then you have to open the file directory from within the app and search for the image. If you're working with hundreds of images this process is very time consuming and is a real bottleneck.

   What if you could just simply drag and drop? Please make this process easier and more intuitive.

6. Hanging Punctuation needs to include more characters and be customizable #Optical Margin Alignment

   Many people need more characters to hang when Optical Margin Alignment is turned on than what is provided by default. This panel should have settings to customize from the default. The workaround to add a space before the character you want to hang and then adding a huge amount of negative kerning, works, but seriously that's all we've got? That is not a real solution, nor is it efficient for multiple instances in multiple documents worked on by multiple people every week. The time used fussing with this alignment must add up to dozens of hours per month, just within our small group. This feature really needs attention. For example:

   In typography, a reference relating to the main body of text, positioned at the bottom of the page. Footnotes are referenced by certain symbols (*, †, ‡, etc.), letters, or numbers, most often in superior or superscript form.

   A footnote begins on the same page as its reference call, but it may be carried over to the bottom of successive pages. A short rule or additional space should separate the footnote from the text. The first line of each footnote is normally slightly indented.

   Point sizes for footnotes are usually 7- or 8-point. By law, footnotes in financial forms, annual reports, prospectuses, and other SEC documents must be no smaller than the text size, which is 10-point.

   The most common sequence of footnote reference marks is: 1. asterisk (), 2. dagger (†), 3. double dagger (††), 4. paragraph symbol (¶), 5. section mark (§), 6. parallel rules (||), 7. number sign (#). If more are required, they can be doubled up: double asterisks (*), double single daggers (††), double double daggers (††††), etc. However, when many footnotes are used, it is more practical to use consecutive numbers to identify each footnote.

   The Story panel could have options such as "include all characters defined as punctuation in this font" or "only include characters defined as punctuation in this font" and even the ability to define your own list of characters. The characters defined as punctuation are already "known" to InDesign, see the Glyphs panel. It must be possible to link this definition that InDesign already "sees" to Optical Margin Alignment in the Story panel.

   I know this feature was not developed for lists, but it could be very useful for lists with these improvements!

8. Improve links palette to include AI file color information

   The Indesign Links palette should show the Adobe Illustrator file document color mode so that I can easily verify that art is CMYK without having to open it in Illustrator. Raster images show RGB, CMYK or Grayscale, but AI files currently give no color information. I understand this might be challenging for EPS or PDF files, but AI files have a Document Color Mode that you must be able to parse from the file.

9. Turn off blue dots in menu

   The blues dots adressing new functions in the menus are distracting. In the preferences menu there could be and option to turn them off.

   It's rather annoying for a seasoned pro user to allways have to click the functions to turn the circle off.

   However, some circles are permanent. We got blue light random places in the menu. It's bad UX with no possibilities to turn them off. Now the UI is getting cluttered in showing off whats new with dots that will not disappear.

12. separations preview - keyboard shortcuts to toggle one channel on and off

    At the moment, the separations preview has the ability to toggle ON an individual channel by using a keyboard shortcut e.g. viewing the Cyan channel only can be done by going cmd + opt + shift + 1. Similar shortcuts can be used for the M Y & K channels as well as 5 spot channels, and all 4 process channels at once. However, they only toggle the separation ON. What would be preferable would be the ability to toggle a channel OFF.

    Here is a use-case: I'm a finished artist inspecting a magazine layout from my designer. They have used thin tinted black type over coloured areas and these will be an issue later. However to see this I have to - using my mouse - toggle the black eyeball on and off of the black separation to see where the white knockout of this light type would be. A preference would be to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle the visibility of the black channel only on and off, while keeping the other channels visible.

I am constantly having to click on List view and setting it to sort A - Z this is becoming cumbersome when trying to quickly navigate my files saved to web in InDesign and other CC applications. I've provided two screen shots. The first one is in grid view which is what adobe always defaults to. The second screen shot is how the view I always use that would be so awesome if it would save which view I am using so I don't have to change it every single time I am navigating file/folder structure.

15. Urgent: Flatplan workflow feature request for InDesign / Bridge (critical for all magazine publishers)

    Hi Adobe team,
    We’re honestly desperate at this point.

    We’ve been trying for weeks to reach someone from Adobe who could even acknowledge this topic — through enterprise support, admin console, chat agents, even our reseller — and it’s absolutely impossible.

    It’s insane that even as an enterprise customer, we can’t reach a real product contact to talk about something so fundamental.
    We’re part of BurdaMedia International (Czech Republic), publishers of ELLE and ELLE Decoration.

    But this isn’t just our pain — it’s something every single magazine publisher still using InDesign is facing.
    There’s simply no native way to plan or visualize flatplans, page structures, ad positions, or collaborative magazine layouts inside Creative Cloud.

    Legacy systems like WoodWing or K4 are outdated, overpriced, and don’t fit today’s workflows — yet Adobe still doesn’t offer even a lightweight in-house alternative.

    Here’s what we’re asking for:
    → A Bridge-based flatplan module (or workspace) that can visualize InDesign pages as individual, draggable objects.
    → The ability to reorder pages, assign colors or labels (editorial, ad, marketing), and link InDesign or PDF files to each position.
    → Automatic renumbering in InDesign when page order changes.
    → Optional PDF preflight and simple export for final issues.

    It’s a technically simple concept — no new platform, just a smarter integration between Bridge and InDesign — but it would solve a huge, decades-old workflow gap.
    This isn’t just about convenience for publishers.
    It’s about Adobe’s relevance in real production.
    If tools like Affinity Publisher or Apple (after acquiring Pixelmator) start offering integrated flatplan collaboration, many teams will start moving away from InDesign.

    We love Adobe, and we’ve built our entire production workflow around it — but right now, we’re forced to sketch magazine layouts in Excel.
    That’s… absurd in 2025.

    Please — could someone from the InDesign or Publishing Solutions product team contact us so we can share our technical brief and prototype concept?

    We’re ready to collaborate and show how easily this could be implemented.

16. Switching language resets preferences and breaks app recognition in Creative Cloud

    I’m writing as an enterprise customer managing multiple Adobe Creative Cloud licenses across a multilingual team. We frequently switch UI languages and reassign machines, so consistent environment management is essential to maintaining workflow stability.

    When switching InDesign’s UI language through Creative Cloud (for example, from Czech to English), all user-specific settings — workspaces, keyboard shortcuts, export presets, print settings, and scripts — are effectively lost.
    This happens because each language version maintains a separate preferences folder (csCZ, enUS, etc.) with no migration or shared profile mechanism. After changing the install language, Creative Cloud also misidentifies previously installed applications as uninstalled, causing confusion and unnecessary duplication.

    This design makes environment management extremely inefficient for enterprise and multilingual users. Reconfiguring an entire setup every time a language or workstation changes is unproductive and error-prone.

    At the enterprise level, we expect:
    1. Centralized, cloud-synced user preferences tied to the user’s Adobe ID — covering shortcuts, workspaces, scripts, and presets.
    2. Team-level sharing and deployment of those settings to ensure consistency across multiple users and systems.
    3. A proper migration utility for switching application language or version.
    4. A cleaned-up folder structure, as the current InDesign and Creative Cloud environment creates excessive fragmentation and clutter across system directories.

    Additionally, it’s quite concerning that as an enterprise customer, there’s no direct way to reach Adobe’s product or technical teams through the Admin Console. Even with enterprise credentials, the only available channel to report structural issues like this is via public forums. That’s not acceptable for enterprise-level support expectations.

    Adobe software produces one of the most chaotic preference folder structures in the industry. Modernizing this system to a unified, cloud-based model would eliminate countless hours of redundant setup and maintenance.
    This issue directly impacts productivity, IT efficiency, and user experience in professional environments. Please escalate this internally to both the InDesign and Creative Cloud teams for review.

    I’m happy to provide detailed workflow examples or configuration data if that helps the product team understand the enterprise-level impact.

20. REMOVE those endless tool tips - hate them.

    OH MY GOD - adobe what are you thinking??????? the software just gets more and more crowded with useless stuff for juvenile users. professionals are pulling out their hair with all the clutter. and those endless, useless tool tips. every time i paste something i'm getting a tool tip - are you people insane????????????? what happened to professionalism. you have a captive audience and now this feels like harassment. EACH AND EVERY - EVERY - EVERY - TIME i do anything i'm getting a tool tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! make an option to TURN THESE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
