Same problem here. I do not want to delete the markers, which can be easily done by searching, only the generated index. This takes ages, no matter whether I delete the text or the pages. The same when I want to copy a generated index. Why? A lot of hidden hyperlinks?

Hello All,
Kindly provide more information about this ask. How do you plan to use the Action Panel in InDesign? Do you want it to work exactly like that in Photoshop? What are the most important actions/operations that you want to record?
Thanks

I would love to be able to record the following operations, which I do every day with a lot of documents, in order to clean them up prior to printing:
• Select all unused character styles, replace with none and keep formatting, then sort the rest by name
• Delete all unused paragraph styles, table styles, cell styles and object styles, and sort the rest by name
• Delete all unused color swatches, and add unnamed colors
• Delete all notes
• Delete all imported PDF comments
• Set conditional text indicators to hide
• Delete all bookmarks
• Delete all hyperlinks to web pages
• Delete unused layers
• Delete all images on pasteboard
• Turn off smart text reflowAn error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
If you want actions to do find and replace, there are several scripts which will do the job just as well by chaining saved queries. I can warmly recommend the one described here: https://www.creativepro.com/automate-grep-find-change-indesign-chaingrep/

This is still a problem in InDesign 2021, Mojave.
I have got 58 documents collected in a book, about 2 GB in all, 704 pages with more than 10.000 index entries, many of which are marked with number style overrides to make them appear as bold. When I generate the index in one of these documents, everything is fine. But when I do it in a separate document containing only the index, there is not a single bold page reference. When I do it in one of the documents, only the entries from this document appear as they should. When I open all the documents and check the Index Window with book turned on to see a preview of the final index, I find that these number styles overrides are all missing. The funny thing is, if I add the number styles overrides in this view, they work, and keep working. Would have been good to know from the beginning!
So I have two options: 1. Tell the client to mark up all their bold references again, using the book view. 2. Combine all the files into one much too long document, with all the dangers that this entails.Anonymous supported this idea ·

Fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign version - InDesign 2023. The fix should solve most of the issues that were seen earlier.
A new option "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap" is introduced in Preferences > Composition dialog. It is turned ON by default for new documents created in ID2023. For documents created in previous InDesign versions, this option is turned off by default - which can be turned ON to see the improved behavior.
Please let us know how the fix is working for you.

Please also give us the choice to keep the document windows settings as chosen by the user, such as "Spreads", instead of changing the view with every found item. Often you need to see what is being found in context, in order to determine whether it should be replaced or not; besides, this jumping around makes one dizzy :-)
