Empty index feature
Since 2016 people are trying to find a good way to reset/whipe/delete/empty the INDEX when things go wrong. This issue is not solved. It takes massive amount of time to delete an index manually.
I had "assistance" from Adobe online chat. They even think it is possible. But when checking in Indesign. They too find it impossible to empty an index.

Same problem here. I do not want to delete the markers, which can be easily done by searching, only the generated index. This takes ages, no matter whether I delete the text or the pages. The same when I want to copy a generated index. Why? A lot of hidden hyperlinks?

Caution: If you use the Script to remove Index Topics and Page References from the Index panel, your Index Markers also get deleted. Same thing happens when using Find / Change.

I was talking with Justin Putney at the InDesign Conference this week in Seattle and he wrote a Script that (when installed) appears in the Index panel. It removes all Topics and Page References.
Install instructions:
1. Quit InDesign (Script gets loaded when launching InDesign.
2. Copy the file into the following folder: Applications/InDesign [version]/Scripts/startup scriptsJames Wamser

This has been solved in other posts.
You search for the index markers in your text ˄I.
You erase them all from your text via a Search All
You then chose in your Index panel: Show unused themes
With one such theme selected you do Erase all unused themes.
Your index is empty.
